I will never get tired of watching people fall in love with One Piece. In my opinion, the greatest story ever told. I'm not a cryer but One Piece makes me cry like a little baby. Alot. While it has scenes and things that will rip your heart out the overwhelming feeling is one of joy. Friendly advice from a long time fan: 1) Don't google anything. ANYTHING. You will be spoiled. 2) Maybe have a friend send you certain clips from the anime to add to your reading experience. Highlights. The voice acting and music really add to the already crazy emotions. Can't wait for more!
Yes! I'm going to read the manga until I think Wano and then change to the anime to watch the scenes! Of course if there are scenes in the manga that I would love to see animated, I'll do that. I appreciate the advice!
I thought One Piece was gonna have the same feels as Pokemon. I thought it was gonna have a goofy with the-villain-of-the-week storyline. I thought it would also be like episodical cartoons, where there are minor stakes and the focus will be defeating-this-island's-villain... What I didn't expect was the overarching storyline which started in episode 1 and builds up episode by episode, where, if you wanna know the context for episode 1000+ then you have to start with episode ONE... What I didn't expect was the heart-gutting and soul-wrenching themes and backstories that have a very disturbing, horrid or uncomfortable subtexts despite the series having a cute and goofy art style... What I didn't expect that I would finish 900 manga chapters in 3 weeks... and finish 700 anime episodes in 3 months! And after that I have been diligently keeping up with the manga and anime weekly! Prior to this I have been a huge manga/anime fan and seen/read so many series before One Piece. Naruto and Bleach were even my first anime... But after a whole decade of being a One Piece fan, all I can say is that it ages well compared to every other anime series I've experienced.
idk about you but pokemon often has me crying too lol, am i the problem? Yes! I totally get it. It's literally about the JOURNEY right? Wow you blew through it! That's awesome. I still haven't decided if I want to start watching the anime with it once I get to Wano.
@@muffintoppu For pokemon, some stories maybe? The movies are great too! But I was thinking more about the buildup and the overarching plot beats that's worth 2 decades hehe. I stopped reading/watching for a long while but when I tried to catch up, I sped through 300 episodes within a week again. 😂😅 It's just that good.
@@muffintoppu IMO, Wano is better experienced in the anime. I watched that rather than reading. But I still think you should read it in the manga since you may need to see the differences, it's very interesting. Plus the cover stories and SBS are important 😊
I agree about the tone of One Piece being light and hopeful being needed. In a world where nihilism feels to be very prevalent One Piece is always idealistic. Btw another cool thing you get in the manga that you dont get if you watch the anime (which I love btw the voice actors and the music add so much) is the cover stories, the panel before every chapter with a small story about whats going on in the world aside from our strawhats.
Yes the cover stories are actually so good! I will switch from manga to the anime in Wano! Because I really wanna see the animation and hear the voice acting.
I never got into One Piece because of the art style. It didn't do anything for me. Since then, I never thought I would get into it but over time, I kept hearing how good it is was and how even years later, it's as strong as its ever been. I did finally read the manga and it's great. I did know some spoilers since I didn't think I'd ever read it but it still didn't detract. Now that I'm caught up, I'm reading arc to arc so now that this last arc just finished, I'm going to wait till the next one is done till I continue.
I totally get this! It was very of its time, and also kind of goofy and overexaggerated. But the story is so good huh? :D I'm glad you gave it another shot.
The way you describe One Piece makes me know it's something I definitely would like. The only reason I ever skip these is because once they get too big in episodes and volumes, I get scared away by the time commitment required. The latest anime I've seen is Demon Slayer, which has the same goofy comedy you described, but also the honor and friendship vibes too; especially during boss fights. You would probably like Dr Stone as well, so check that one out too.
Yes! That's what I love about demon slayer too! That brotherly camaraderie and goofiness between the super dark and heavy battles. Just chip away at one piece little by little, you can also use one pace to watch without fillers. :) It's worth it I think.
@@muffintoppu If you like mysteries, science knowledge, incredible storyline, comedy humor, and with sprinkle of fights, altogether you will definitely love Dr. Stone

I will recommend always have a box of tissues nearby for when you need to cry, One piece will have you ugly crying and crying tears of laughter, sometimes you'll go from one to the other and back multiple times in a single chapter. It's an amazing journey, welcome to the crew! Thank you for the video. P.S. You may want to watch out when reading comments, as spoilers may be contained in comments in the future, sometimes fans get worked up when chatting with each other about upcoming moments they're excited to see someone react to and will accidentally spoil things, or give you expectations for what will happen. It may be worthwhile to ask someone to moderate your comments for you so you only read the ones that don't have spoilers.
Yeah... I'm editing the orange town video. I was crying about Chou Chou too. I think I'm gonna lose A LOT of water weight with this series. But super excited to kick off my animanga channel and videos with one piece and getting comments from people who love the series so much has been really awesome. Thanks for the tip about the comments too, good call.

@muffintoppu I'm not Japanese, but Detective Conan was also a huge part of everyone's childhood where I grew up. I remember watching it fondly, although I did not remember any plot at all. I've decided to start watching it again over a year ago, filler and all, I'm over 600 episodes in and I'm so in love with it, it's crazy. As for One Piece, I've binged the whole thing in a few months last year and I'm currently a weekly manga reader. I don't think you're ready for the emotional impact it will have on you (in a good way, I wasn't ready either).
@muffintoppu not just Detective Conan, Hunter x Hunter 1999 was very popular as well, and Beyblade, and Captain Tsubasa. We grew up watching so much anime not even knowing that it's anime. I'd say Detective Conan, HxH were probably the most popular tho.
