Look Back is more than just an anime, its the will to keep going
Look Back has to be anime of the year.
My personal favorite of Chainsawman’s creator Tatsuki Fujimoto.
Just finished Goodbye Eri, keep an eye out for that and somehow give me the strength to start Firepunch.

    typically Netflix just buys for streaming rights of anime... but actually in DanDaDan case I do think they paid for production in some capacity. why it isnt Netflix exclusive is very curious. i love the character designs. id def still call anime cinematography 'cinematography'. just that the camera is more 'meta', but framing of shots still works regardless of a physical camera or not. the abduction scene was ... extreme. i didnt see it as explicitly fanservice cus it was so uncomfortable. but its definitely fair to dislike that aspect. honestly, the aspect of DanDaDan i love the most is with the character relationships & interactions... which isnt really in the first episode or arc. so it be a series that gets better & better. if your curious why theres a focus on genitals, the mangaka explained that he wanted a story hook. like a protagonist losing a hand is a common story hook... but he wanted to go freaky with it.... it definitely is a tone setter ill say.

      Oh interesting! Lol yeah i recently read that the mangaka was with a shueisha editor and they were drinking and were like, "yo what if a ghost stole your balls". And thus, Dandadan was born lmao. I love that. I also read that he read like over 100 shojo romance manga to write romance better! I love that, I kinda wanna take on that challenge for myself.

    If you're a Makoto Shinkai fan, did you have the chance to watch Kanojo to kanojo no neko? It's 5 min long, super low budget, minimalistic, a lot of still shots, Shinkai's the VA for the cat and he basically narrates all the way through. Even though, you could tell even then, that Shinkai's a master of setting up a mood and knows how to get the viewer emotional. If you didn't and you have 5 minutes to spare, it's on TH-cam.

    I'd like to say that I didn't see an anime that felt this special in a long time, but Frieren just happened. Besides Frieren though? It was a long while. I went through the entire manga in a few days (ended on the day when they released the final chapter before a 3 week hiatus, which always happens to me when I catch up to a manga!) and to avoid spoilers I'll just say - it's a beautiful story. Also, there's nothing compared to that ep 1 scene (though I still defend it, because it really feels like it's done right, has a purpose and it ends with Momo being empowered and saving herself with that great comeback to her kich from the first scene) and any horny/creepy stuff is minimal and mostly in the earlier chapters.

    • @arisaakamine
      @arisaakamine 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes! This is what conflicted me. It was an awful scene that made me so uncomfortable but it was also the catalyst for Momo’s power spike to save herself and to give Okarun the desperation to come save her. Sometimes it takes something truly awful, to see what we can really do. So, as weird as it was I felt that it contributed to the plot and character development and wasn’t just smutty fan service. I’m excited to continue Frieren, it’s been put to the side for now with catching up on One Piece and rewatching all the Ghibli movies hehe

    I read Look Back this year, it resonated deeply with who I am. In the end Fujino has to accept that Kyomoto is gone and past will never change, even if she died because she made her leave her room, it made her life so much better. So, next time Fujino looks back she won't look back in anger and regret because her selfshisness torn them appart. She will have to look back with joy cause both met and her life was better becasuse of that. The only testament will be art, she will have to keep on drawing. Good-bye Eri and Firepunch have sentive themes, specially Firepunch. Fujimoto writes about the human condition but despite its horrors he always finds room for humor and references to cinema which he loves. Even Chainsawman is tame in comparison to Firepunch in some aspects. Finishing Firepunch reminded me to Arthur's C. Clarke's Childhood's End, Fujimoto definitely cooked. I hope both works get animated. Talking about animation, Look Back movie, which I sadly missed on theaters, IS a work of art and passion. Reading the manga is a great experience but watching the characters move, their little gestures and expressions, the AMAZING voice acting (I think watching it in japanese at least one time is a MUST), words aren't enough.

    • @arisaakamine
      @arisaakamine 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You’re making me cry at a public coffee shop. T_T It’s so true though! She had so much regret for bringing her into danger, but danger exists no matter what. She should know she is also responsible for bringing her out into joy, and they created something really amazing together and when she continues to draw, she continues a legacy for both of them. Gawd damn I am bawling in public rn. There is a beautiful scene, when she has the what if flash back, she turns around and sees the jacket she signed. It says, “Fujimoto Ayumu” which is like a beautiful and subtle fourth wall break. Because it is Fujimoto addressing himself, and telling himself to walk forward in his dream. Which is the kanji meaning of Ayumu. Wow I wonder why fire punch is not talked about so much? I’m gonna start reading the manga now.

    Many so called "survivors" of alien abdcutions very often recalled being sexual assaulted / probed. And many ufologist claim extraterrestrials are interested in interbreeding with humans. So the whole bit of the aliens being creepy sex weirdos is entirely based on IRL ufo lore. DDD's core theme is love and how it relates to sex. Okarun has self esteem issues, he is also very submissive and "unmanly", hence he is constantly losing his manhood (literally). Momo wants to date but lacks maturity and understanding of the dangers males can pose, you can see that her ex bf was PoS that just wanted to take her verginity, and the male-coded aliens tried to rape her as soon as they met. And finally Aria, is obsessed with being a high quality girl and being the prettiest, she has a lot intenalized misogyny with how she spreads a fake rumor about Momo being a "slut" and tries to force herself on Okaru after consuming a ton of pornography and falsely concluding that all men want to have sex all the time.

    I saw the opening of this when it first leaked and knew it was something special. I wasn't hooked right away, but that episode closing (after dealing with Turbo Granny) where they say 'goodbye' hit me. Okarun pauses, and Ayase catches him with "See you tommorow!", and the screen fades to black before he says 'Okay!'. I melted into a puddle at that part. The very next episode solidified it for me -- the school episode where they eagerly search for each other because now they are 'bae'. And that music after the clink teeth scene is exactly what you are talking about, where the soundtrack just fits perfectly. This is the only anime were I never skip the opening, and frequently listen to it since it immediately puts you into a happy mood. Not a single criticism from me for Dandadan.

And i harvested it as much as i can. I felt like i was born just to fail and fail and fail. Just to be trampled by others stronger than me. A purpose drives a man to move into action. I didn't have a concrete dream. A strong desire. Other than a fascination with space when i was a child. And great lust for women when i grew into adulthood. I have an experience working as a sailor. And it is pretty fun. Even without pay it was fun . Just being able to have a purpose. You are right. If people have a great desire, hunger , and dream they should grasp it right away. Me and the boys rewatched Your Name a couple days ago and we fell in love with it again. Sooooooo good 😭😭 I'm a Japanese raised and living overseas so I can relate to your experience though. I understand 80% but the English subs really helps fill the holes.

    You should combat death by creating life. You are a woman and have the unique privilege of bringing more people into this world. Don't make the mistake of waiting too long! Celebrate your heritage by continuing the lineage as much as possible.

    I dislike this girl, she got all offended because some fans were lusting for her, yet... what did you expect? You are not funny or interesting, all you got is that you are cute. Since then I stopped following her, just for being a b!tch. I dunno why youtube recomended her today, I didn't even bothered to waching the video, lol.

      She might not have people to talk to, so she's talking to the camera. I think it's fair to kick people out of your community that you don't want there, that's how you cultivate a good vibe to make content creation fun to engage with. You gotta make sure to run your community before it runs you and you're just living your life trying to meet expectations or jump through hoops like you're in a circus. Calling somebody cute sounds different than expressing lust too, and it sounds like it might come down to being disrespectful and not the fact that they were experiencing lust.
