I remember when we first got my third gen, this was almost 10 years ago. I vividly remember this car being google famous while getting inspiration for our build. Awesome to see it in a video!
Glad you liked it! I'll be sure to get a follow up video with Rob after he finishes with the 2 67mm turbos he has mocked up on his other car. Hopefuilly I can catch him at some autocross drag events next summer too!
Great video, I didn’t realize that car was built to those standards! Amazing built Rob ! Beautiful 3rd gen camaro. Great job on the video as well Gearhead syndrome!
That parking lot was extra rough, once out of there its was definitely on the stiffer side but not at all unbearable. Excited to see how it does at autocross next summer
Yeah, my thirdgen is somewhat harsh on almost stock springs, I was gonna say it looks like the suspension would shake your fillings loose. Think I actually did have this as a screensaver at one point. Definitely a nice car.
I’ve honestly never seen this car before but, wow! Awesome build. I really like the turn signals in the side view mirrors. I had a ‘86 a couple years ago. Like a moron, I sold it though. I could kick my own butt every time I see a good build like this. Props.
I think most of us have a car we regret selling. I'll be following up with Rob once he finishes the twin Turbo set up this winter if you havent already subscribed. Cheers
ALL YOUR MISSING IS THE STICKERS,AND 3 BAR IROC RIMS,BUT THOSE ARE COOL NO AIR RIDE THOUGH,HATE AIR RIDE HEADACHES....OTHER THAN THAT TONY THE TIGER...."ITS GREAT"..LOL
100% agree. The stock IROC-Z decals sets off the look of those - as do the wheels. I remember back in the day, that those 16s" looked so big since most fullsize cars were running narrow 15s". That said, they make replica iroc-z wheels in 18". I think that could be a good compromise.
Rob built another for a friend that's all black. They did the car show circuit in 2023 as Vader next to the storm Trooper haha. The link to his socials is in the video description.
That's awesome. I'm based in Moncton and will be doing a follow up video after Rob turbo charges his Camaro. If you haven't already, I'd love if you subscribed to keep up to speed on the car.
Robs socials are in the description if you have any questions. Thanks for watching. If you want to subscribe I'm doing a follow up video this coming spring after he turbo charges it.
Had me @ 0:15 with the signals inside the mirror housing. Must know everything else, pour it into my brain-case in the next 16 and a half minutes. (Just, aim better than the F-Body's namesake!) _I can take it._ If not, I'll be back to talk to your mom/manager/sergeant/tuner
That parking lot was pretty bad, and it's built for track/performance use so its really stiff. There is no compliance in the chassis for pot holes with the chassis rails, massive strut braces, and roll cage.
Yeah I agree, I'm trying to by a black 87 iroc, it's all completely original and only has about 10k miles on it. Its a convertible and the guy bought it for his wife brand new and he said she just hardly ever drove it. Only problem is he wants 30k for it. I offered him 20k but he wouldn't take it, and I haven't got him to budge on his 30k asking price. He said since 1990 it's only been driven a few hundred miles or less a year, and said that was mostly just trying to keep it maintained.
That's unfortunate, because this isn't your typical stance, parking lot princess set up. From what I remember its a new system designed for performance. Rob spent the summer tuning it for autocross and track days.
That's one man's opinion. Ther have been air suspension set ups in race cars for decades. To each their own. But thank you for notifying everyone about when you stopped caring. We were all so interested.
That side mirror turn signal should be patented. That’s a money maker. I’d buy it b

Is this Spikez's car?
It would look complete with factory IROC Z decals on the sides and IROC Z emblem on the back bumper!
Don’t like the single exhaust on the back , this beast needs dual outlets
Those headlights!!
Great video, I didn’t realize that car was built to those standards! Amazing built Rob ! Beautiful 3rd gen camaro. Great job on the video as well Gearhead syndrome!
Thanks! That means the world to hear. I'll be sure to bug Rob for a follow up next year when he has the twin turbo set up all sorted!
It's looks exactly like a iroc minus the "iroc z" emblem. Looks really clean imo
Door gaps are perfect. Love it
Beautiful iroc z
It's super clean. Well done
Mullet gang 🫶🏾
See what it means to have vision and imagination?! Excellent build.
It is a fantastic car. I'll be doing a follow up video next year when Rob is done fitting the two 67mm turbos he has mocked up on his 88!
And money
Great video and back story! One of the best ones so far! 👌
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love it! I’m also currently building a 3rd gen Camaro. A 1991 RS
Suspension seems harsh for street but very cool

SO happy to see proper three pedals!
Storm Trooper theme, nice idea...
Misses the signals and signs.
Beautiful car. A lot of tasteful mods.

I've always wanted an all black one but this is starting to change my mind

@@gearheadsyndrome oh that's awesome thanks
No problem.
If you haven't already, I'd love if you subscribed. Going to do a follow up video on Rob's Camaro when the twin turbos are installed.
Cool story, awesome unique car too ! I really wish it had dual exhaust though.
I agree!
Beautiful car!! Totally awesome!!
Sick ride
Couldn't agree more!
I've seen this car at alntic Nationals, building one thisbyear my self! Can't wait to drive it.

where’d you find bags at for these cars
Is that Spikes car? 😮 TGO legend
nice job on one of these cars i wish some one would remove the rear glass hatch and put it too metal all metal Hatch
Omg I had the same car. Wow
What rims are those and did you use spacers ?
Hey guys does anyone know what wheels (rims) are on the Storm trooper cheers
What size pipe and muffler did you use for the exhaust?
lol
CarDonain! 🤘🏽
Would love to know the specs on those 18s. Sweet ride.
Robs socials are in the description if you have any questions. Thanks for watching. If you want to subscribe I'm doing a follow up video this coming spring after he turbo charges it.
Damn, got a lot of work to do on my 91’ 😭
Gearhead can u get me info on that steering wheel please?
I'll ask Rob
Have you seen the one with the c7 interior
I haven't. Curious to see what that one is like. That's a whole new level of work to interior swap a car!
@@gearheadsyndrome it's on here just put custom interior in Camaros it'll pop up it's white and blue it looks sick
What type of steering wheel is that? And how do I get one?
I linked Rob's socials in the video description. I'm hoping to see him at speedsport 2024. Maybe get some more footage of his car on display

Rest assured I'll be following up on Robs Camaro next spring when he is hopefully done fitting both 67mm turbos he has mocked up on his 88.
why does it bounce when it drives, other then that nice build
That parking lot was pretty bad, and it's built for track/performance use so its really stiff. There is no compliance in the chassis for pot holes with the chassis rails, massive strut braces, and roll cage.
1990 RS owner/build
🏆
I personally, would leave it NA.
The twin 67mm snails are already mocked up on his 88. At this point boost is inevitable haha
Look like u feel every bump while driving
It's a VERY stiff chassis with the set up intended for back roads/autocross.
even a stock iroc rode firm, this will ride firmer had an 87 5.7 tpi,it was a blast have an 86 t/a now
That bus look better😂
What seats did you use?
I asked Rob.
He got them from Iroc motorsports: the Recaro 6le
irocmotorsports.com/product/sport-seats-pair-stock-to-roc-6le-recaro-style-sport-seats-with-mounting-brackets-82-02-f-body-package/
Why do don't call this a3rd gen? It's the 4th iteration.
The 2nd generation had a few major looks with the face-lifts it had but the chassis/roofline were all common from 1970-1981
Nothing against anyone..But a stock Iroc would and does look much better......
Yeah I agree, I'm trying to by a black 87 iroc, it's all completely original and only has about 10k miles on it. @GT-43 got a 88 iroc z 350 all black w/ t tops for 10k if interested 140k miles
All irocs look better with 295 rear tires though.
Give me his phone number, I will buy it tomorrow………
I would normally agree but this car is sweet!
86 come with light on back windshield that’s not a 86
The car is heavily customized. The chassis is an 86. He did everything to simplify the exterior. Even filled and smoothed the rocker panels
Proof "just bacause you can doesnt mean you should". Its a fun project, but the Iroc looks 5x better
Lost me at the air suspension
lol
I stopped caring at air bags.
That's unfortunate, because this isn't your typical stance, parking lot princess set up. From what I remember its a new system designed for performance. Rob spent the summer tuning it for autocross and track days.

Now im a firm beleiver in white vehicles look better, but the 3rd gen is the only car that it just doesnt look right on imo
What size rim and tires are those ?
Have to check with Rob. I don't remember
