Great info on understanding the issue thanks. Only question I would have is I have a 2016 2.0 just had intrusion in cylinder 2. I have Alldata and it’s gives me TSB 19-2172 and the part number is J2GZ-6006-F there is not part that is associated it that number. Will the J2GZ-6006-E witch is the second gen EcoBoost block work with my 2016 witch had the gen1. Thanks in advanced have done hours of research. My long block is FP5Z6006AARM I don’t want to but a new one and it do the same thing.
Thank you for your time!! It's because we value your opinion on these engines!! For myself, I didn't know how to access the library, and appreciate you posting the direct listing!! With the price of cars now, and past problems with the EcoBoost engines, most probably want to make sure the problems are 'fixed' before buying a new Ford/Lincoln!!
My 2017 Ford Escape Titanium AWD 2.0. Just had a new long block installed. Put 500 miles on the new long block. Seems to be doing fine. As of now. Ford Boss me guided me through the whole ordeal. Watched his videos. Yes, He answered my questions too. It took over 2.5 months to get my new long block. Plus! The Dealership got bought out during the wait. Everything went the way he told me it would. People just go threw the videos. It's time for him to move on from this issue. He has been nothing but kind and generous in his time. He has showed us how the problems began and how to fix it. Thanks once again Ford Boss me! Couldn't have done this without your great videos and info! Shawn.
Nice. It will last a long, long time! Be sure to use good "full synthetic" engine oil changed @5k mis max. I use Motorcraft filters as they highly rated @great price pt. Just got new '22 Edge AWD w/Gen2- 2.0L Ecoboost 4mos ago..my 2nd Edge. Awesome vehicles!
Just went through this issue with my 2017 Escape 1.5l AWD. Blew the head gasket and after going back and forth with my warranty company...brand new motor installed with only 260 miles left on the warranty. Got the car back after about 1 month. Thank you Ford Boss I have learned so much from you with this issue and others. I truly appreciate you and all that you do. Truly happy with the end result and the vehicle is great so far.
@@Davido50 How does synthetic engine oil affect the lifespan of head gaskets? It doesn't. The coolant intrustion issue is a block design defect that can't be prevented by routine maintenance.
I just found this channel a couple weeks ago because my 2017 Ford Edge 2.0 had coolant intrusion. It’s currently at the dealership getting a new engine. I appreciate your channel for helping me figure out the issues with the engine before I took it to the dealership. I walked in already prepared for them to tell me the engine needed to be replaced. Keep up the good work. We really need a good honest mechanic we can trust.
I took the time to research what I wanted to know about my 2.0 EcoBoost Bronco Sport engine. Fearing I might have purchased an engine guaranteed to have a catastrophic failure in a short time. This is one of the videos I came up with. I am glad I came across this video and I'm very appreciative of people like you who enlighten others with your knowledge.
Thanks for your time & knowledge! I've had great success w/ Gen1 - 2.0L TGDI in my '15 MKZ AWD & Gen2 - 2.3L in a '20 Ranger XLT FX4 & lastly a Gen2- 2.0L in our '22 Edge AWD. These are very stout engines w/ forged internals. Simply keeping your oil change intervals @5k MAX & using a good brand *full synthetic engine oil* will allow these advanced engines to perform @there best & last a long, long time! I use top tier rated midgrade 89 fuels always... sometimes premium 93 for added cleaning detergents . Reg 87 unleaded is all that's needed. Just be sure your getting a top tier fuel for added detergents etc to prevent carbon buildup esp. Enjoy. - Ohio
Loved this! The people that think that they are entitled to your time without compensation really needed to hear this. NOTHING IS FREE! Thank you for all of the information that you impart to us.
Used your video's to get my own short block replaced....no charge. 93,000 miles and Ford still paid for it. Had the knowledge going in. Saved me about 8,000 dollars.
I guess I got extremely unlucky with my 2022 Bronco Sport. The 1.5L cracked and leaked coolant into the cylinder at 24,000. And I have babied it. I'm not mad anymore, though. Ford made it right but I was pissed losing my car for 3 months.
The 2020 and newer Escapes have completely new engines. The 1.5 THREE cylinder is completely new, and unknown territory for me. To be honest, we haven't moved a lot of 2020 and newer Escapes, nor do I see a lot of them out there. My personal opinion is, I think a lot of people have soured with the problems of the 2017 to 2019 models that they are reluctant to get into a newer model.
@@Rosso488 I seem to see more of the Bronco Sport models moving than I do Escapes (almost identical underpinnings and mechanicals). I have a feeling if this trend continues, Ford will pull the plug on the Escape, barring a miraculous increase in sales which I don't foresee at this rate.
Thanks for the info! I'm considering ordering a 2022 Bronco Sport Bandlands with the 2.0 EcoBoost. I just started researching the reliability of this motor and have been watching your video library on this motor. What I gather is to change oil every 3k miles with full synthetic, change plugs every 35k, install a catch can and use an induction cleaner to clean intake and valves every 10k. I have to do some research on how to properly use an induction cleaner and what brand to use.
Someone please answer this question I have - the 2.0 in our '18 MKC failed at 37K miles due to coolant intrusion, the dealer replaced the engine in MAY 2023 (assembled in March 2023), and this July, it ALSO failed from coolant intrusion after only 4,000 miles. The second replacement engine in it right now was manufactured this April and has the SAME exact block part number (J2GE 6006 AC) as the failed first replacement engine. The block part number on the original engine (assembled in December 2017) has the block part number HV 206 AA. Has Ford not solved the coolant intrusion problem despite "supposedly" redesigning the block starting around the 2020-ish model year?
Oh, Rich...nobody ever searches. Same thing happens on forums. I used to be a frequent poster on the Odyclub (Honda Odyssey) forum and I got so tired of answering the same questions over and over when a simple search would turn up the answer(s) instantly that I'd posted a hundred times already. When you tell people to search they get pissed off at you. You put out lots of good info. It's up to people to go find it and watch/learn.
Prior to retirement I worked as a technical support person doing data networking, I had sales people asking me for help I’m getting pricing information, I would ask have you looked at the process website where the information resides
I got an new long block on my 2016 ford edge, it has done 12000 kms ( 7500 miles ) in 6 months. I haven’t got any issues as of now. Gas economy has also improved with new engine.
Found you channel when looking for a newer car. I found a 18 escape titanium with 4wd and after watching your videos I knew what I was getting into for problems on the ecoboost motor. I made the decision to buy it with 44k miles on it and then buy the ford premium care. I’m cover up to 119k miles for warranty now. You videos are excellent In covering issues and as a TH-camr that has a real job you have one of the most organized playlists of anyone I’ve seen. Your very thorough and helped this guy with knowing what he needed because I simply just looked through your older videos until I found what I needed.
Thanks to you I'm aware of the issues of my 18 1.5 Fusion. It's currently at the dealership and they called me twice stating they can't find a issue. Twice I told them about your videos and they are finally doing a pressure test over the weekend according to the service writer. I'm feeling like that specific dealership doesn't want to try. This is the 3rd time it's been in the shop and hopefully they will do something about it. Thank you for the things you post.
I'm in the process of pulling the head off my 2017 2.0 ecoboost in a Fusion for the stupid cylinder groove cut issue.. Kinda pissed about Ford not doing a recall on this engine, I'm out of warranty as well and my extended warranty won't cover it cause it's a "Factory defect"....so I'm trying something. Going to attempt to fill the slit with either Belzona epoxy or a 750 degree low melt brazing rod. Can't hurt since it's already somewhat broke, not as bad as some I've seen. Belzona is actually a product recommended by Caterpillar on engines. I've seen this stuff work in some very extreme environments, wish me luck! Lol
Honest commentary 💙. I hear this on so many other TH-cam channels - people asking the same questions over and over and over because they don't want to take the time to just look at the videos already produced. I think we need to bring back the military draft so that young people are taught basic skills they need in life because it's not happening in the school system.
I just found your channel and really like your attitude about people asking the same questions. I've been leary of ecoboost since it came out. Now Im thinking of the next gen Ranger with the 2.5 eco. Im seeing that as a veru good ecoboost, so next year I'll give it a shot. Thank you for all the work you have done.
I have a 2021 Bronco Sport 1.5L. I’ve had the vehicle for a little over a year and it’s creeping up on 30k hwy miles. So far so good. Lots of annoying recalls but the car has been solid (knock on wood).
Thank you for sharing your experience. Is greatly appreciated, I didn't realized how much information you have in your channel and yes next time I have a question will check the library and find it. Again thank you.
A year ago we needed a car quickly because our 18 Focus SEL lost the dual clutch trans at about 40,000 miles. No parts available and no prospects. After waiting 3 weeks we bit the bullet and bought a 21 Escape, but only the 1.5 3 cyl was available. We HATED that car. Droning between 40 and 50 mph, constant shifting on highway acceleration, and rough shifts on coast down when stopping. At 8k miles we took it back and test drove 22 Escape with the 2 liter. A totally different and more pleasant car. The 3 cyl is a total dog that should be put down.
Hey, I'm new to your channel but I certainly appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge with us. I bought a Bronco Sport with the 2.0 and it brings me some peace of mind to hear you haven't heard to many issues.. YET. Time will tell. Appreciate it 👍
Glad you put this out. This is the Ford Boss Me channel, not Google, and it takes a ton of time to record/edit/publish videos. I get that not all people are mechanically inclined and don't have a similar thinking pattern like us technicians. However, all of us viewers have the same access to his library of past videos. So, check them out! You'll sometimes get an answer sooner that way. Sir, your information is not a waste of time. As long as your channel exists, and as long as your past videos are still available, you will be helping out many other people for years to come. I guarantee it.
Thanks for the work you've done on the 1.5l engine issue. You were the first source online to address this issue. And yes, I got it in the first series of videos. Good luck with your channel and the continued effort you put into it. How you juggle a job, youtube, and still get some sleep is a mystery.
Surprised to hear a 2019 edge had that problem, from the TSB description I thought they changed the block design when they refreshed the edge. Guess I’ll have to keep a lookout for those too.
First time I drove one of the new escapes I was blown away at how well that little 3 cyl ran. I had one that was misfiring on cylinder 3 that I found a cracked spark plug in. Other than that they get oil changes. Not had to touch one yet, thankfully. I really like them for such a small powerplant.
We have also done about four 1 l engines in the ecosports. Couple of them the timing belt broke and bent the valves. This timing belt sits in the oil pan. I noticed it more so happens in the cold weather.
The one liter engine lock up because the belt stretches and once the belt stretches the oil pump doesn't turn and eventually burns the motor oil because it's not getting oil where it needs to go
I work at a Chevrolet dealer, and when they went from the old 1.4 ecotec to the new 1.4 and 1.5 they developed their own problems that weren’t realized by gm a little over two years of them being out and some of these issues still trickled down to the 21s. We had a 2021 equinox with 10k miles on it and the ring lands on cylinders 1s piston cracked. This was a big issue in the 16s from pre ignition and the solution was an ecm reprogram. May have been a bad part with this equinox but we won’t really know.
Yeah I had a 2016 Chevy Malibu 2LT and it had the 2.0 L turbo engine and there was a lot of pre detonation you can hear it really bad in between two walls and the car ended up getting stolen lovely because it was back in the shop 12 x in twenty thousand miles
When I worked at Hertz rental car we would have to reprogram the computers on any of the turbo 4 cylinders change the oil and filter because it was melting the piston rings destroying the engine
@FordBossMe It is really sad that big 3 can't make good cars 😢😢😢. Toyota and Honda prices are more than 20%-30% than Ford, but people still love buying Toyota. The cheapest 2023 Escape which is seating at my local dealer 100 days is $25K plus tax. On the orther hand, my Toyota dealer does not have any Rav4 LE and XLE. Even if they have Rav LE, customers have to pay packages and adjustment price plus tax. People blamed that Japanese stole American's jobs in 1990s. They were wrong.
You know the more I hear about the 1.5 ecoboost the more I’m glad I got rid of my 17 Fusion with that engine. It never had any problems so I never concerned myself with it. Had it for almost 5 years with no issues. Glad I bailed if it was only a matter of time.
Welcome to dealing with the public, everyone wants information now and free without doing any work for it. I work for a manufacturer, I can’t believe how many times a day I offer the easiest obtainable information over and over, I often wonder if they have heard of Google? You can’t let it get to you, walk away from it if it’s causing you stress, I worry that you are a little obsessed with these motors, way more to life unless this is your hobby or passion with free time which is always your choice, take care.
I have no issues paying you for your information and time. I’m in the same boat as you. I’m a Master Plumber and I always try to help people & yes it becomes overwhelming. I definitely understand. I enjoy working on my own vehicle’s due to me wanting to be mechanic, but I became a plumber.
I mean if the information is there already there's no reason to pay somebody anything unless you want personal help then it's different you know and sometimes that's what people want and I don't fault them for that but got to pay up then
Well the first 4 minutes of your video told me you will not allow me to ask questions be about anything, because you have mastered the art of (my viewers will watch every video I have made before commenting). So just wondering... what happen to your eye? I'll ask someone else about the 2023 Ford Maverick I'm ordering through the MAS program as a deployed member. Cheers bud. Learn some people skills if you refuse to learn social media skills.
If you did what I do every single day and if you dealt with the volume of people that I deal with every single day you would know the amount of stupidity that I have to deal with every single day now granted there are some really good people and people that will respect my time but the majority of people they won't and they don't care and that's why I am the way I am and if you fault me for that well then so be it
I had one or two popped blood vessels from the hernia surgery I guess they said sometimes these things can happen shortly after you come out of surgery
I have the 2015 ford edge 2.0L with 108k miles on it and it developed coolant head gasket leak into cylinder 3 (cylinder 3 misfire code). Supposedly it doesn't have the slit between the cylinders and still had the problem or does it? I ended up trying bar's head gasket Grey goop to seal it and it worked for now. So did the year have the slit design or is the ecoboost motors just prone to this issue
Welcome to Earth my man. People have mobile computers in their hands yet research still cant be done. Repeated comments and questions all over social media.
So I don't know if you're trying to troll my account here or not or you're trying to cause problems for me but I just went and typed in 2.0 and there's a ton of videos so let's make sure we're searching correctly because I'm not going to deal with the trolling stuff
@@FordBossMe you need to lighten up a bit. All the negativity is very boring. No, I'm not trolling. You stated in a vid that you had stuff sorted and when I went to your channel and looked at the playlist labeled 1.5, 1.6, 2.0 Ecosboost that you posted below there were zero vids labeled 2.0 in the list. Have a nice Thanksgiving and keep up the good work. Best, Bill
So basically what you're saying is: LOOK UP YOUR ENGINES!! Sorry man I just couldn't help myself. Also, offering consultations for a fee is an excellent idea. Some guys just need a little "coaching" I think. It will give them a confidence boost before tackling a job they may not completely understand. As always Take Care and be blessed Rich Donut Dan
Hello. I have recently found your channel and I love it. It gives me hope with my situation. I really appriciate your informative videos and don't know what I would have done without them. I own 2018 Mondeo with 1.5 ecoboost and got "lucky" with the engine coz it lasted 170.000 km (108k ish miles) before the coolant problem. Which I was told is higher than avarage with these engines. Sadly the problem occured after warranty and now the dealership wants me to pay for the repair but they can't guarantee I will get the newer version of the engine (Europe). I found non authorized repair shop that repairs the engine, not replace it. They just did the same engine from C-MAX and its much cheaper than replacement. Apparently they reinforce the critical parts of the engine that causes the leaking issue. Do you think, from your proffessional point of view, that I should go with the repair or pay the huge money for new engine block? Sorry for bothering you but I am torn, since there is no recall for these engine ecoboost issues in europe which pisses me off and they can't even guarantee the 2020+ block engine replacement.
Just subscribed. I agree with the donations to be walked through something. You have aggregated a lot of information on your channel. (Not asking for help btw). Sometimes it’s annoying to find information on a specific year or engine type with these fords. I have spent countless hours researching specifically the 2013 Ford Edge sel 2.0l eco boost. After spending thousands at various shops and never having my issues actually fixed (this includes the local dealer). I had to replace the 6f35 at 45,000 miles. Just outside of the range for the recall to get it replaced by ford (now at 88,000 miles it’s having issues again already). And not I have a coolant reduction happening over time. So I’ll have to have the long block swap before long. Another $7,000. For what I have into this car in repairs with less than even 100,000 miles I could have went and bought a whole other base line vehicle brand new from a dealership. Which is sad. But I digress, what I mean to say as thank you for putting this info together. Your info focuses specifically around the 1.5l or at least that’s what most of the titles say. I haven’t watched all of them. So my only ask is there a generalized keyword grouping that I can search to actually find info specifically on the 2013 edge 2.0l sel ecoboost fwd? As everything I find is always a 3.5 or some other version. I can find only very limited info on my specific setup. Great videos and thank you for your hard work.
I'm from the UK iv had the 2.0 ecoboost INA focus ST great engine IMO i now have the 1.5 3 cylinder engine in a fiesta ST producing 200 bhp. Fantastic to hear there's not many problems with the new engine 😃 I appreciate your videos for sure 👍 just one question? In the UK this engine has cylinder deactivation so runns on 2 cylinders goes the dragon engine in the US have cylinder deactivation too??
A lot of folks will not even put the effort into reading an operators manual. Keep up the good content and don't care for those who can not care for themselves.
You’re doing a great job bro. Don’t mind the trolls, some people don’t know how to navigate TH-cam. Your videos are spot on, and I’m thankful for them.
I bought a 2016 ford edge early this year took it to the dealership and was eventually told I needed a new engine for 12,000 dollars. I looked into the failure and found out there is a class action lawsuit which I am a part of. The lawsuit has been going on since 2020 and the law firm tells me they don't know how much money I will get or when. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? I am thinking about selling it for cheap. The main office in Dearborn MI said there is nothing they can do to help me. Should I sue the company directly?
I really want a Bronco Sport Badlands But I am really spooked by all the issues Ford has and how long it takes them to fix there seemingly very poor engineering. History has me spooked
I bought a 2024 Badlands about 3 weeks ago and from my research the 2.0 seems to be a solid engine....finally. I only have 300 miles on it, but I'm very impressed with the power, smoothness, and quietness. My only issue is the transmission is a bit rough shifting in the lower gears from a takeoff. This is common knowledge for this transmission. However, it does smooth out after driving a few miles. Also, putting the trans into ECO reduces it. It's actually quite minor, but I was accustomed to my previous 2019 Maza CX-5 which was a very smooth shifter.
Hi, I have been looking for information on the 1.5L Ecoboost engine for about 2 weeks. Today was the first time I came across your channel. Thanks for the information. I have a 2018 Escape sel where I had a mis fire on cylinder #2. I thought I had the cooling problem. However, Right now I do not. I just hope The engine will last for 1 more year. I was wondering what you answered if the repair they made was working. Thanks for your video!
Hey ford boss I have a 2017 2.0, I hope I don’t have to ever deal with this but I have a theory. If I’m in that situation I don’t have the money to fix it with new long block. I saw some people building race motors with open decks fill the water jackets with sugar up to about top inch and fill with epoxy to make it closed deck. This got my gears turning. What if you filled the channels between cylinders with epoxy, get newer head gasket and drill a pass through hole. Now I know some say there are micro cracks in the wall but what’s there to lose with doing this experiment if your options are 10 k for a motor or get rid of car. Just a theory that went through my head which I would try if I unfortunately encounter the problem. What do you think (I know it’s not a proper fix but hey it might just work).
Ford is ticking me off on this 2.0. 2019 Escape. Built on May 2, 2019. Cleveland engine built on April 29. TSB states the revised engine was used on the Escapes after May 16. So mine is the old slotted block. But then it states for the Lincoln’s you need to validate that the engine number is 910. Mine is clearly 920, giving me some hope that it is the revised design. Maybe wishful thinking, but my dealer seems clueless about it. Wish I knew someone at Ford that could say yay or nay. I have seen other chatter about the revised engine kicking in a times different than the TSB states as well. Anyone know anything about this 910 versus 920?
@@perryheideman9007 I have a 2019 escape titanium that was built in July 2019 so I should be good. Where is this sticker on the engine? Is it on the passenger side up top?
I did a walk around on a 2021 bronco sport big bend yesterday. It has the 1.5 liter 3 cylinder in it. Not a bad ride. Did you ever fix the oil leak on that new explorer where a bunch of stuff had to come apart to get a bolt out. I may have missed the follow up. Notifications are on
wondering if anyone can tell me the differences between the 2021 2.0L ecoboost and the previous 2017-2019 2.0L ecoboost. Mostly interested in the long Block differences. I understand its different but wondering if 2021 long block can be use on prior years. Done some research and all that is out there is that 2020+ 2.0L has new internal. thank if you can help
I got a 2020 Ford escape with a ego boost three cylinder engine in it and already got 7625 miles on it and I’ve had no problems with the engine the transmission or anything inside the vehicle
Great video, people never seem to want to do their own leg work, they just want someone to hold their hand, I would say a library tutorial is in order. Also what are your thoughts on the dislike counter being unavailable? Whenever I am looking for a skilled video to learn something there are a lot of bad videos, and the like to dislike ratio is usually a good indicator on what to spend my time watching.
That this like counter being removed I like because I had a guy that was a subscriber here and he was personally attacking me for months and he would try to get his other subscribers to come here and do things to my videos and although ever worked out in his favor and the lights were always 95% more than the dislikes it's not a good indication on the quality of a video to be honest with you
Thank you for your time. Do ford engine have actual engine specific identifiers? For example Toyota has 2tz, 1rz, 1az, 1tz, 6ar, t24a for all their different 2.0L engine. GM has the LHU, LTG, LSQ, LNF, anyways. Making it easy to identify each engine. Ford seem to only have Ecoboost 2.0L first and second gens. Are there actual engine number/ Identifiers. seem that all 2010-2019 escape with 2.0L engine are identified with number 9 on location 8 on the vin. Reason I ask is because I'm trying to figure out what the actual difference is between the Ecoboost 2.0L gen 2 engine (2015-2019)and new 2020-2022+ 2.0L Ecoboost? The new 2.0L. would the 2020-2022 2.0L be considered a 3rd gen, or 2nd gen with different externals. Wish each gen had a different engine number/identifier. Easy to see the differece between a 3 cylinder 1.5L and a 4cylinder 1.5. visited ford authority and they have nothing on the "new" 2020+ 2.0l Ecoboost. Called Ford and all they would say was ask a Ford tech. When you have time and if you can would you specifically cover the difference between the 2.0L Ecoboost engines. way to long a know thanks
Rich, the truth is people are just lazy!!!!!! Your search on the channel library works well. Just searched PTU and all the videos about PTU come up. I am planning to have the dealer change the PTU fluid when I hit 20,000 miles, my only worry is if they refuse to change it or give me a bunch of bs. I Have a beautiful black 2017 Lincoln Continental 3.7 V6 all wheel drive, no turbos the normal 3.7 V6, I know from you and other channels the PTU's are proven to be an issue if you don't change the fluid every 20,000 miles.
@FordBossMe I thought bigger Ford engine is more reliable. I am going to buy Edge 2.7 v6. I don't worry if I pay more for reliable cars, but I won't waste any pennies for junk.
1.0 Litre 3 cylinder ????? Hi, Can you tell us, is there a DIFFERENCE WITH THE 2018 onwards / eco boost 1.0 three cylinder? Can you say if the 2018 onwards 1.0L three cylinder has the new design block ?? Thanks
The 1.0 was not designed like the 1.5 L exactly but the 1.0 had a notorious problem for sharing teeth off of the oil pump drive belt and it could have coolant intrusion problems also
I am getting my 2017 Edge long block in a week or so and thanks for the info on what was going on with the 302 code and misfire. My question is could this coolant leak damage the turbo since the moisture is being pushed thru the system?. Do I need to question them on this when I take it in? Thanks for all the info you put out in my case it really helped.
How would I no if my 2019 ford focus 1.5 ecoboost 3 cylinder is the new engine the cars date of first registered woz 19/07/2019 coz I can smell antifreeze coming from engine bay
Hey thanks for educating the public but I have to ask I Have 2014 Ford Fusion when should change the time belt on this vehicle. I have 85000 on this vehicle.
No if you would have done a basic Google search and typed in 2.0 L EcoBoost coolant intrusion TSB you would have seen that in 2019 was the last year for the coolant intrusion and they went to the newer updated block and 2020 was the last year for the fusion
you're about as real as they come and not afraid to tell it like it is, which some get offended, good information from a knowledgeable tech right at Ford that cares about customers and the work that you do!
I have a 2017 Explorer 2.3L ecoboost and have all the symptoms of coolant intrusion. I can't find any TSB that specifically mentions it. What would be the recourse? long block replacement?
Guilty! I was looking for 1.6 info ref coolant intrusion. On that note, how do I know my replacement motor is the new “fixed” design? I also never found out for sure if it was long or short block. Thx sir for post!
You can't really tell if it's a new updated design you just have to take their word for it and you just have to go off the receipt and you should be able to look at the motor until it's new in the whole thing should be new If you got a receipt for it or paperwork saying that it's been done under warranty it was done because Ford will call that motor back for accountability the old one if not the dealership will get charged back that entire amount warranty had to pay
@@FordBossMe thanks for reply sir! The ambiguity with EVERYTHING about this Escape is crazy. It was impossible to get a straight answer about ANYTHING. Oddly, my service ticket for the new engine was only 1 page, which blew my mind. In defense of my dealer… I will say that 16,000 miles in, no issues.. no weird noises… no codes of any kind. I was even worried about stuff like coolant leaks from uninstalling/reinstalling hoses and PAG oil amount etc but far as I can tell- she’s all good. Again, appreciate the reply!!
Thanks for your information on all the latest automotive Ford products. I've been looking at the new maverick. It is getting some good reviews. I would love to know your take on it.

Thanks have read and viewed, glad I got the ext warranty have a good day.
Full heads up, most of us just watch your videos, and never really respond. Love your content, keep it up.
You have not wasted your time thank's for your knowledge.

Enjoy. - Ohio
Some people are not the brightest in the world. Thank you for your time to educate us
Thanks for the video. A friend is looking at the 1.5 3 cylinder so the information is very appreciated.
Not to mention the new one isn’t all that nice.
Perfect
When the manufacturer and dealers are not helping, you my friend are really helpful!
That’s great; the dealer is going to replace the long block of my 2017 Edge, it went out at 80k miles. I hope the new block works fine (VEP).

@@FordBossMe honestly all the thanks goes to you! I also really enjoy your oil filter videos. Great content all around
You may have to go to another dealership
Did you pay for the test? My dealer charged me $100 for diagnostic.
Thanks for the video. I just stumbled across this video on you tube. Very informative.
Lol
I actually just now learned about the search feature for channel vids. Good to know.
Thank you for your help. We appreciated everything.
Thanks!
I would love to see more 21f150 powerboost content. I did see your initial thoughts vid on that red truck. Awesome channel thanks rich
I have a 2021 Bronco Sport 1.5L. I’ve had the vehicle for a little over a year and it’s creeping up on 30k hwy miles. So far so good. Lots of annoying recalls but the car has been solid (knock on wood).
Your engine isn't the same as this 1.5
I'm doing research right now about this issue and I came across this video.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Is greatly appreciated, I didn't realized how much information you have in your channel and yes next time I have a question will check the library and find it. Again thank you.
As soon as you detect lazy, entitled or pushy....get the $150 up front! You are the valuable resource 💖
yes you are a great guy your knowledge and time you have given me has helped me alot thank you
A year ago we needed a car quickly because our 18 Focus SEL lost the dual clutch trans at about 40,000 miles.
Appreciate it 👍
The new 2.0 is not like the old one....it's much better
Appreciate your time and information, thank you
Thanks ford boss you definitely have helped me along the way and beyond
Same people who are too lazy to research questions are the same folks who neglect their basic maintenance on their cars 💯
I alway put at least 10 hrs of research on any major purchase I make no matter what I’m buying. The larger the price the more research I do
Thanks for the work you've done on the 1.5l engine issue. You were the first source online to address this issue. And yes, I got it in the first series of videos. Good luck with your channel and the continued effort you put into it. How you juggle a job, youtube, and still get some sleep is a mystery.
It's not easy brother

Your hard work and info is always appreciated here. I liked what you had
to say and some people really need to hear that. 🙂🐶🐾👍🏼
I subscribed to your channel for the great information for I work at an independent shop that gets newer vehicles. Keep the good quality videos. 👌
Surprised to hear a 2019 edge had that problem, from the TSB description I thought they changed the block design when they refreshed the edge. Guess I’ll have to keep a lookout for those too.
Mid-2019 they did change it
First time I drove one of the new escapes I was blown away at how well that little 3 cyl ran.
The one liter engine lock up because the belt stretches and once the belt stretches the oil pump doesn't turn and eventually burns the motor oil because it's not getting oil where it needs to go
I love your work man. Keep it up!
You awesome man… love this channel👨🏽🔧👍🏽
Just picked up a 2022 maverick with the 2.0 ecoboost. Hope it holds up...
Those have been solid
@@FordBossMe Good to hear! I absolutely love the truck so far.
my 2.0 ecoboost are great
just use full synthetic oil
clean intake valve every now and then
change the coils every now and then
Makes you wonder how much testing Ford actually does. The talk about the millions of miles of testing, but I guess that is done in a computer.
I mean if the information is there already there's no reason to pay somebody anything unless you want personal help then it's different you know and sometimes that's what people want and I don't fault them for that but got to pay up then
Understood. I’m going to purchase a new engine tomorrow.

Cheers bud.
As for the 2023 Maverick you're going to love it it's absolutely phenomenal it's a great vehicle it is just an amazing piece of machinery
1:27 it’s basically a close deck block the design before is called a open deck block.
You rock brother. Thanks for the info.
Please do a history on the 2.7L; the good the bad the ugly and differences in the years. Does the 2nd generation need catch cans too??
Unfortunately I feel your pain. I have the same issue but alot of people are lazy to search for anything. It's frustrating but be patient.
Went to you library/playlist. 54 vids, but not one titled about an issue with the 2.0.
Type in EcoBoost try different selections I know there's videos there you didn't look for something correctly I can tell you that
So I don't know if you're trying to troll my account here or not or you're trying to cause problems for me but I just went and typed in 2.0 and there's a ton of videos so let's make sure we're searching correctly because I'm not going to deal with the trolling stuff
@@FordBossMe you need to lighten up a bit. All the negativity is very boring. No, I'm not trolling.
I would have to know more about the type of repair that they actually perform to give you better advice
Your year didn't have the coolant issue, the edge issue with the coolant intrusion was 17 and 18 I believe
Yes it does.
Good video. And btw, I don't mind when you speak your mind. People don't have to watch if they don't like your style.
Well I put a tutorial up now
I bought a 2016 ford edge early this year took it to the dealership and was eventually told I needed a new engine for 12,000 dollars.

I really want a Bronco Sport Badlands
But I am really spooked by all the issues Ford has and how long it takes them to fix there seemingly very poor engineering.
We rarely do any 1.6's.... 2/3rds of what we do are 1.5's, and the rest are the 2.0's.
I believe it was still working
Where did you get those numbers from? Is there a sticker on the engine?
@@newfie-dean5803 Yes, there was a sticker on the engine, stating 920. Never could figure this out with Ford.
Make sure you're doing those oil changes by every 5,000 miles and no more
Great video, people never seem to want to do their own leg work, they just want someone to hold their hand, I would say a library tutorial is in order.
When you have time and if you can would you specifically cover the difference between the 2.0L Ecoboost engines. way to long a know
thanks
I mean the engineers may have some kind of lingo that they use but we don't
Rich, the truth is people are just lazy!!!!!! Your search on the channel library works well. Just searched PTU and all the videos about PTU come up. I am planning to have the dealer change the PTU fluid when I hit 20,000 miles, my only worry is if they refuse to change it or give me a bunch of bs. I Have a beautiful black 2017 Lincoln Continental 3.7 V6 all wheel drive, no turbos the normal 3.7 V6, I know from you and other channels the PTU's are proven to be an issue if you don't change the fluid every 20,000 miles.
Thank you. I will look it up about 1.5 3cyl
Which is a new Ford turo engine reliable? Why do they stop making good engines?
We don't have that vehicle here
@FordBossMe I thought bigger Ford engine is more reliable. I am going to buy Edge 2.7 v6. I don't worry if I pay more for reliable cars, but I won't waste any pennies for junk.
So...are you saying that the new coyote engines are not having the same problems as my 1989 mercury sable??? Just kidding, your awesome man!!
About 100k typically is the time
If my 2022 2.0 ecoboost can last close to 200k I’ll be happy..
Sorry if you've already addressed this, but do the 2.0 blocks in 2020 Fusions have the same problems as previous engines? If not, what was their fix?
No if you would have done a basic Google search and typed in 2.0 L EcoBoost coolant intrusion TSB you would have seen that in 2019 was the last year for the coolant intrusion and they went to the newer updated block and 2020 was the last year for the fusion
I feel that hybrid drivetrains are more reliable than the regular ones.
Ha lol I have a 2017 fusion energi and I went through 3 transmissions but had a warranty and it paid all them but my warranty just ended
you're about as real as they come and not afraid to tell it like it is, which some get offended, good information from a knowledgeable tech right at Ford that cares about customers and the work that you do!
I have a 2017 Explorer 2.3L ecoboost and have all the symptoms of coolant intrusion. I can't find any TSB that specifically mentions it. What would be the recourse? long block replacement?
On the 2.3 l EcoBoost we seem to find that it is the head gasket and what we typically do is remove the head and do a head gasket service on it
@@FordBossMe Much appreciated.
Guilty! I was looking for 1.6 info ref coolant intrusion. On that note, how do I know my replacement motor is the new “fixed” design? I also never found out for sure if it was long or short block. Thx sir for post!
You can't really tell if it's a new updated design you just have to take their word for it and you just have to go off the receipt and you should be able to look at the motor until it's new in the whole thing should be new
If you got a receipt for it or paperwork saying that it's been done under warranty it was done because Ford will call that motor back for accountability the old one if not the dealership will get charged back that entire amount warranty had to pay
So far it looks really nice and seems to be working out for people
@@FordBossMe Thanks, look forward to seeing and test driving one. I like the 2.0 EcoBoost motor
