    Thanks. Next week I have a prostate biopsy, so I'll have to wait for results. I also have to realize that until I hear bad news, I have to live as though it will be good news. Otherwise I am destroying precious days.

      I'm so sorry and I totally understand how you feel. I can tell you that throughout my life I've had some really rough seasons where I was waiting for life altering results and even after being alive for over 70yrs, I still need to remind myself to stay calm. Do you have any mindful practices that bring you a sense of calm?

    Just waited 5 days for my pap smear, and my anxiety was going through the roof.
    I convinced myself that the report would show something sinister.

      It's tough to keep that negative chatter at bay but I can assure you, the best practice is to create a toolbox for yourself because over the coming years, these tests are likely going to increase and get scarier. If you can collect practices, tips and techniques for soothing your anxiety you'll be better off. I've gone through several major procedures and outlived cancer and I promise you, it is possible to have a long, happy full life despite medical conditions.

    Thank you so much for this video Cherelle. My health anxiety has been out of control over the past couple of months. Had a routine blood test the turned up some abnormalities so have been referred for more tests. The compulsion to Google has been very overwhelming and has affected my mental health in a huge way. I'm now convinced of the worst case scenario and I am constantly checking symptoms. I'm trying everything to help me calm down with varying degrees of success. I think that your videos will really help me through the next few weeks. Best wishes and positive thoughts to you and your family. You're an absolute gem.

    This is such a comforting video Cherelle and I commend you for being brave enough to share let all us know we are not alone in this journey. Whatever the different struggles might be, the stress and anxiety that comes from not feeling in control or optimistic about the future is a tough battle. I've been diagnosed with so many different life threatening diseases over the past five decades and I've had so many cancers and survived each other (I think I lost count at this point). And one of the truths I'd like to share with this incredible community is that half the battle is won when we stop trying to resist "what is" and just focus on staying in the present moment. The more we try to think through the outcome or what the future will be, the harder it is to handle those feelings of anxiety. And for those of us who are natural worriers, we simply cannot think about the test results without getting triggered. When I talked about medical tests and anxiety in my channel it's really because I've come to realize that it is possible to not spin into a web of destruction during that waiting period. And while it may seem too simple, the easiest and healthiest approach is to figure out practices and techniques that keep your brain completely immersed in the present moment. I hope that helps and I'd love to hear your thoughts on this as well. Warm hugs from Granny Ronna.

I've been fighting the Google trap (and losing 😪) but I've been trying to remember that I can't do anything to change my situation, so I might as well try to live my life in the meantime. I have severe anxiety especially waiting on blood and urinalysis results to the point I feel sick. It’s the biggest reason why I don’t like going to the doctor but I know I have to go to keep updated on my body.

    • @grannyronna

      Anxiety especially for medical tests is such a common issue and I have to share, I've been battling with this for decades now. But over the years, I've found helpful practices and techniques that enable me to sooth back into a state of calm. I realize for example that anxiety tends to be the worst the more I think about the future or outcome. But in the present moment, I cannot control any of that. So rather than worry about what I can't control, I do my best to stay in the present moment. Try it and see if it helps.

    I had an abnormal result on an ECG, it showed my QTc to be abnormally long. So of course I looked it up and brought myself to the hospital freaking out...well a specialist from the best heart institute in my country said it was an ECG miscalculation which happens frequently and to not be concerned but I've convinced myself I have LQTS and am going to die at any moment of cardiac arrest...I ordered genetic testing just to stop my anxiety and now I'm fearful it'll come back positive and what then? 😭

    Anyone got advice for this situation when they actually keep finding things wrong with you? I keep “collecting” chronic illnesses - first hypothyroidism, then inflammatory arthritis, then trigeminal neuralgia alongside fibromyalgia. Now I’m waiting for results from a lung CT after having an abnormal chest xray(after a persistent cough after COVID). I’m anxious as hell because it feels like every time I get a test I end up being diagnosed with something new, and I know the xray was abnormal so I’m worried the CT will show something very scary.
    AND it’s about to be a long weekend.

      I've had doctors diagnosing me and giving me just a short time to live since I was a young girl. After making it 70+ yrs, the best advice I can give you is no matter what anyone tells you, do your best to just focus on what you can control. If you can accept the gift you have of life today, and accept yourself as you are now, then you won't spend any more energy trying to resist or fight the diagnosis. Instead you can shift focus and just enjoy whatever little health you have. And somehow, that might help soothe you a little and make this day a little easier. Just take it one day (or even 1 hr) at a time. Does that make sense?

    The thing that freaks me out the most is that my GP practice usually completes general/routine bloods within 24hrs. If I get a text, it's usually the following morning, and it being so fast is always frightening.
    Nine times out of ten there's something ever so slightly off, or borderline, and it's nothing to worry about. I think it's the speed at which you I up hearing back kicks my anxiety into a higher gear.

    Hi cherelle! I just got my brain MRI results back concerning MS. The scan was all clear. I've only made it 48 hours and I already want to ask for a spine MRI to entirely rule it out. May I ask your thoughts on this? ❤️

    • @cherellethinks
      @cherellethinks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey Courtney! Oh I’m so sorry to hear you’re not fully reassured. Honestly, from what I’ve read, the vast majority of MS patients have lesions in the brain. And, nowadays there are other indicators of MS other than just lesions & white matter. I think we have to trust you doctor here. If there were any signs of MS on your brain scan, they’d have absolutely suggested a spinal MRI if they needed to clarify. I know it’s hard but try to remember that this is just your catastrophic brain at play. ♥️
