I can’t take this episode off my mind. The way it was written, I can’t help but feel how sweet revenge could be. Oh how good would it feel to make someone suffer how they made you suffer. But to be slapped back with goodness and kindness and that blessed feeling of empathy and compassion for those who have been wronged is an awakening.- there isaGod.
James Whitmore an highly underrated actor. I haven’t seen him act in very many movies 🍿 but in the ones that I had seen I’ve been impressed. One in particular I’ve seen twice and enjoyed it immensely. I think that the name of it is The Tenderfoot. It’s a western. 😊
Another great episode of Bonanza👍. I just liked good ending when hatred forgotten. Though many missed Adam as he was one of the Cartwrights, I do liked the actor who took role of Candy when I first saw his appearance in Bonanza. Always thought it would it be great if Adam didnt quit.
Bonanza is and was one of the few shows that has so many lessons and virtues to offer the viewer, here is pain, confusion anger, hatred, revenge longsuffering, understanding, nature taking her course of reconciliation worry patience, renewal, and forgiveness. Not in that order. Would have been interesting to watch a trial, and conviction again, and back to prison. Another phenomenon I really liked is the boys didn't give up, no give in.
Wow, what an episode.From the obviously bigger budget and different filming locations, well written story and the carefully crafted direction and James Whitmore's fine acting as a guest star, this stands as one of the best Bonanza episodes of all time. I wonder why they went all out on this one? Perhaps sweeps season or something like that. Thanks for the upload!
Ok, I always like to criticize so I couldn't let this one go with no criticism. Look at 2:07 . There's a shadow of a man on the side of the cow but the shadow doesn't have a cowboy hat like all of the characters would working steer on such a hot day, and he just seems to be sitting there. Obviously a member of the crew.
"Ain`t no big thing being friendly to folks" boy we sure could do with more of that these days . And that was stupid Hoss and Little Joe both going down that hole. And that beard on Ben suits him Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
I recognized Brooks from Shawshank Redemption and found it interesting he was being released from prison. No way the old guy was not a suspect and they wouldn't look at his mine sooner. The Sheriff should have been more involved also why did they not have their guns on them. I did enjoy the episode very much.

With Ben's level of compassion and feeling guilty that his testimony would lead to a guilty verdict, I don't think Ben and Candy would even mention it to anyone. Though how they will explain where they were for so long would be interesting.
Hopefully you will never be tested to know. Unless we are super strong in our convictions and very mindful of our responses, it's hard to know exactly how we will respond to a given circumstance.
What a coincidence that Hoss and Little Joe were not at the dinner, only Candy and Ben. And where was Hopsing? And where did Ben and Candy go to the bathroom in the mine? They had only food and water...
Bad episode. Never tried to use pocketknives/spurs/belt-buckles to dig handholds. Horses in the barn,... nearby presumably. And it never occurred to anyone who might have a motive??? Duh.
No. It's a nick name. His name is Canady, so people called him Candy because really that's the way it rolled off the tongue, at least the lazy way of saying his name. It fits.
