If you grew up in the 1980s then you probably watched Terrahawks, and were probably scared by the evil Zelda. Why not relive those terrifying memories with one of our favourite episodes of the 1980s Gerry Anderson series?
Set in the year 2020, the series follows the adventures of the Terrahawks, a taskforce responsible for protecting Earth from invasion by a group of extraterrestrial androids and aliens led by Zelda. Like Anderson's previous puppet series, futuristic vehicles and technology featured prominently in each episode.
The show was created by Thunderbirds producer Gerry Anderson, and was his first full return to puppetry since his Century 21 puppet studio closed in 1969.

I am not sure how but for a period of time terrahawks was erased from my mind,even though i am a freaking big fan of thunderbirds,and the work in general gerry anderson has put on those shows.An suddenly yesterday i saw one of the episodes in my youtube suggestions and with a friend sit and watch the entire thing! We had a blast having fun and also laughs as well.And i can say that this series works in me a really awesome feeling by watching it.Its something magical,the music,the way all are put together,the characters,the introduction.All creates a weird mixed feeling of good vibes,making me want to see what will happen next and stuff! Their work deserves an emmy award only for those feelings,and i am not leaking ears over there period! 😁
This brings back memories! I've never forgotten the lines "I'm having a baby!" "But, we're androids?"
I thought they were cyborgs so I hypothesized they probably created Goybirl from Cy-Star's DNA cybernetic implants and a harvested human brain the split personality was a result of hatching Goybirl prematurely
This is the one i remember most from my childhood!
I remember watching this at 15 and when Cy-Star says that she's going to have a baby, my first thought was 'How?'

This is incredible! Terrahawks really is a true classic. And it aired two years after Postman Pat, around the same time as the Railway Series pilot, and one year before Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends was first broadcast in the UK!!👍

cystar always made me laugh, and zelda was a good villian, mary was the best..
I remember being about 5 years old and waking up around 4am going downstairs and watching this. Scared the living crap out of me 😂. Seriously there is something extremely creepy about these puppets.
I completely agree with that. It was too weird for kids. Scared the shit out of me as well.
But i watched it last night and i have to agree that it is typically British humour and quite funny.....but WTF is going on....and why are we talking about it?

I can't believe I wasn't conscious of this stuff when I was a kid. Ironically they would not of made this today. Those were the days of imagination, creativity, and a proper sense of humour.
First time watching this series.
But love the old time shows.
I love Its-star the Goybirl, awesome character. I enjoyed seeing Zelda’s sweeter side and watching her deliver the baby with a crowbar and watching Young-Star walking round with hot water and towels.
I can remember watching this up my granny's house every Sunday evening when we used to go up for tea

‘Youngster’ always freaked me out as a kid with his teeth sticking out of his bottom lip. 😂 I have to say the vehicle modelling still looks amazing today!

Just superb. None of it made sense to me as a kid...but I applaud the wide and vast subject matter being fed into a children's program. Do not treat children as idiots and they will grow up to have questions of their own.

They're on DVD and Blu-ray... but broadcast TV would be nice at some point!
Zelda 👍🏼 and also Yuri the bear... when his eyes lit-up! For a 6 year old me that was pretty scary. Blu-Ray boxset purchased 👌🏼

Oldies but goodies from the uk
The fact that Mary jeopardizes the entire mission on this evil 'baby' is so stupid. I know its a kids show, but considering the ethical boundaries a paramilitary organisation like the Terrahawks crosses everyday, shooting at the base while a 'baby' is being born is certainly not something they should have doubts over. They're soulless androids and evil nonetheless. Their one chance at victory, before Zelda unleashes mass genocide on all humans, halted because Mary had a random ounce of 'compassion' that will probably never be seen again when they kill the alien criminals Zelda unleashes.
Guinea Pig Everyday yeah that was pretty idiotic especially since these androids aint born innocent, just blast em and be done with it.
Unless she thought they took a human hostage and the human was giving birth, but it was idiotic of her not to request they try to find out.

What the holy hell am I watching? I'm NOT even stoned but aren't their heads freaky large for their bodies?
The puppets used here are hand puppets, meaning the heads were disproportionate to the bodies resulting in a caricature look. By the time Terrahawks was made Anderson had worked out a way to make puppet heads the same sizes as a the bodies (see Captain Scarlet) but audiences complained that the puppets lacked the character of previous series (see Thunderbirds) not to mention Terrahawks was done on a fraction of the budget of Anderson's earlier shows so it struck a stylistic and economical balance by having the puppets be caricatures again.
@@gilescosgrove3933 It actually looks really good, imo. For the era, the budget and considering the scale, the series turned out remarkably well crafted. The characters are cartoonish, but not creepy.. The only thing I ever thought seemed kinda unsettling was that despite their eyes being able to move they don't ever blink. But that's really not picky..

Although mainly for children there was something disturbing about these puppets. I think Torchy the Battery boy would have felt at home with them.

I like ur work Gerry. I'm only 14 but u have the right, *raised voice in seriousness* ABSOLUTE RIGHT to create creepy puppet shows that may scare people to their souls. Think maybe next project ya do with puppets that I can help with? I'll need a tutorial but I wanna become a ventriloquist however if puppets are the next sooner best thing, Cyclops is a go! Cyclops will be my name in either Thunderbirds or Terrahawks
Ahh this was a great programme. Its a shame they dont just put all the episodes of these old tv programmes on youtube. You would think the money from advertising would be well worth it.
