Oddly enough to some, I love this ship and plan on buying it. I use the 125a commonly to do courier/box missions, and I see myself using this for the same. I rarely fire my guns on those missions anyway.
The inside is awesome. The outside is goofy. Salvaging it will be a dream. I don't want one, but I might get a game package to give to a friend. It'll be as handy as the Cutter, just a bit different.
Its the default bright white livery ( like a white cargo van)that makes it so awkward looking. I think a darker paint job will help make the asymmetrical aspect of the ship blend a bit better.
The only thing at present is they need to increase the length of the landing legs they're way too short for those cargo lifts you barely can get one SCU box into it without the ship clipping and flinging all over the place
Honestly, the ship is salvageable IMO. First size up the gun to a Size 4 or 5, a 4 with a hard point mount added up front under the cockpit as well or a single size 5. Then add some dressing on the exterior to break up the box look. Thing is if they sell this thing for more than $50...nobody will buy it. This should not be a massive issue for CIG to fix imo.
I feel like most of the comments about this ship should be applied to the star Lancer that ship has the most wasted space I've ever seen in any of the ships to date it has like four or five elevators were the Carrsck has three stories and it only has two elevators. Furthermore the star Lancers engine room is practically another storage compartment
But far less practicality, with interior space and features. I immediately thought 70-90 bucks. Yes it's a starter ship, but one of the most well rounded. And come with the latest methods and approach to ship building. For someone that just has a 45-55, starter package. This would be a great little upgrade. Or a more lethal starter ship, than the Nomad. But without clear vehicle transport capability.
For a ship design to feature the sole gun so much, only to have a dinky size 3 is disappointing. Having such a small gun really unbalances the look of the ship. Not to mention the blocky design and only having two tiny missiles. They could easily double the missile payload to bring it in line with other starters. The interior, however, is where the Intrepid shines... such a cozy space apartment. Give it some dark paint and a low price point and it's a maybe.
When I see the Intrepid, I get the impression of a bald man in his early twenties. No beard, no wrinkles. Never looks good. But he has a good heart and he is athletic. A good hat (paint) can salvage the exterior.
For a beginner, not bad :) For a seasoned player, this is a CCU LTI token. The only starter I have is a Syulen, just because it is an exotic ship. The looks are hard to swallow. Now with the S4 looks more balanced, but then you have the most spacious interior in a starter. From the back and the sides great. From the top is a bit weird. It is the Cybertruck effect, it was ugly af, but now everyone and their mother has one
A simple thing, like bringing the wing edges forward along the cockpit, would make this ship look so much better, but also the Size-4 will help. I did a similar, but far worse photoshop job in my Org discord. Or....just don't look at it from above.
At least the sound design for the ship is pretty great, and it looks like it handles well and will have decent range. I think it could work for bunker missions and as a quickly claimable disposable taxi.
The 'Chipped Tooth' ...I can't stand it, inside and out, it's just awkward for the sake of being awkward, I will never fly this, lol. But who cares, others will like it and that's the joy of SC, there's something for everyone. I like ships that others don't like!! It does look like it fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down😂😂😂
The fit and finish is fantastic ... yeah, she's not beautiful (does every ship need to be beautiful?!) but is going to make a few new players very happy! Love the way you can open the cargo bays inside! Omg CIG really nailing it now.
I actually love it. I love the asymmetrical look, I love it all around. I can fully see this being another shuttle like I use the the Aurora for now, but for strictly shuttle use it's so much more cozy inside and better cargo. I just love it. It's definitely a starter and as such it hits all the points I would look for. if it's priced near a Penguin I'll pass, but if it's closer to Aurora/Mustang I'll definitely get one!
It's not nearly as ugly as the 600i. Oh, look CIG decided to make a mini-Mercury. Approved. There is a chance that this will see the light of day a time or two as the meta shifts throughout the years.
IMO, I think it looks great! I dig asymmetric designs in general as I don't believe there is any real reason for symmetry in space. However, I don't get what it "does" thats different or better than it's rivals? Seems the Avenger Titan is still a superior option in every way. I think its design is too refined to compete with the Mustang or Aurora. The interior layout is awesome, but the engineering seems extra. You can't service it while dogfighting and who really is cool with being stationed in a closet? I would only change 2 things: 1) Replace single size 3 w/ 4 or even 5 2) Redesign cargo area to fit a pulse Then I think It would actually reach "cool legit option" status. Cheers Montoya! Why would you think there is no need for symmetry in space? It is generally harder to balance the thrust of anything asymmetric. Plus it's a crusader ship, meaning it is supposed to basically be a space plane that works well in atmosphere. My opinion is that it is a bad design, both logically or aesthetically.
@ I respect your opinion. Sounds like you don’t care for asymmetric ships, like the Corsair, MSR and the Millennium Falcon. That’s cool, not for everybody. I love that they just upped the hard point on the intrepid to size 4! I like it a little more now.
@@manokela Yeah, really not a fan of asymmetry because it just doesn't make any sense and looks weird to me, so there is reason to do it in my opinion. The falcon isn't that asymmetric either is you look at it. I think everyone just remembers the fact that it had asymmetry when they are kids, and have a sense of nostalgia about it. It actually almost completely symmetrical, and the little bit of asymmetry it does have could make sense from a practical perspective if you look at it the right way. The thing with the intrepid is that is very lopsided for no good reason, and it doesn't even make it look good in my opinion. Plus it's a Crusader ship that violates a bunch of crusader design rules. It just seems like so much "eh, fuck it" and wasted potential. The S4 gun was definitely a good choice, though I think a S5 for a ship of that size and with such an huge design compromise for a gun mount would be better. At least there is a somewhat plausible reason why it would look that way. It's getting close to a medium ship as well, so even a single size 4 is a bit lacking honestly, especially since that gun could get blown off or break and then you are screwed. They wanted to make it a starter, but I think their design kind of sucks for that.
If the outside had more detail. Maybe more greebling it would look better. It's not awful, I just don't have a place for this is my fleet. A skylight or window would help.

It just got hotter…. S4 gun now … I was hoping for an S5 but S4 might be good enough. I don’t the gun is bespoke either like the inferno or ion. Just two negatives for me still. The inability to put in a bike and the single S1 shield. Why does a single person ship need to be a starter ship? CIG should make an advanced single crew ship. We don’t have one in the game yet unless you get AI or blades in the future.
It does come in 2 black versions and 3 other colors. I think they intentionally made it weak so a newbie could upgrade it cheap to learn the ship mechanics. They put one of the worst S3 guns on that some S2s out DPS/alpha. Bolt an Attrition or Deadbolt on and it DPS almost quadruples. It's also a sleeper stealth ship in stealth A gear 1.3km IR 3.1k EM with weapons and shields on after caps are charged. This is a nice runabout and smuggler ship that's fast and agile in space and atmo if you like the odd style. A cheap LTI token probably.

The whole point is that the Intrepid breaks the Crusader design language and by moving the cockpit center line that is restored. It's not a C1 that way at all, it has the same design style yes, and it should, but it becomes a way more natural progression from this as a starter into a C1 and beyond. The center line design also creates more space for a crusader style ship in general, wil room for a proper cargo area and possible the option to bring a small vehicle, Especially when you move the engines outward. As it is, the Intrepid is not a proper starter ship, it would be a CCU token at best but I expect it will be in the 60-70 USD price range and there it is just too expensive. It's a bad design and a mistake.

Why would you build an asymetric ship with a huge ofset gun housing if you intended to build a starter ship from the get go? Plus. The Titan is an starter pack, it gets a s4 + 2 s3... A single Size 5 would still have less DPS than the Titan which is another freaking starter. The design is flawed and useless, and most people making reviews are too afraid to just say that, and are coming up with all sorts of crazy unreasonable arguments to try and defend it somehow
Also it's also bad as an "Uber", cuz the mustang is fast, has a far smaller hitbox, and has higher fire power if you need it. Plus you enter directly into the cockpit. SO if you want to build a quick shuttle to go by, as you said an uber... it should be like that.
Did you start out the day with whiskey? The Crusader Pacifist is a terrible ship. It has CIGS new pre-nerf system. They hired a team of 80 year old women in between their knitting brakes, they design this ship For citizens to die in. no need to try and protect yourself or think that you have a chance to live. By lots of armor, weapons, gear, and food because you’re gonna be hopping back-and-forth from the place you die to the place. It takes you an hour to gear up and fly back to die again. If CIG had no fun guarantee, this is the ship it would come with. You do a great job on your channel. Have a wonderful day.
How many starter ships does the game need? Dont we have enough already? I think they could have better spent those labor hours on the other ships they've announced but havent released.
I have a feeling this ugly thing is going to be way overpriced. 80 for a Nomad is nuts when you can get a Cutty for 100WB. Its going to have to be dirt cheap to even enter the conversation...

I don't know why everyone thinks you can't have a central cockpit. Just have a diagonal hallway leading to the cockpit.

Currently. We dont know if they find a solution, that is coming down the road. But with the current build of the game its an oversight, indeed.

It's probably 50-55 USD. It has to be cheaper than the Titan. The Titan has the same scu, but is more capable in combat and overall speed.

Aurora was a 30$, starter ship back in the days. And I expect it will get a revisit closer to 1.0. So perhaps a reimagining :)
