While I totally vibe with all the Pacman choices, I personally would have made an exception in terms of the colors just to make an all blue one to reference his power pellet state. It's unquestionably iconic, and it would be kinda his edgier alt i suppose. Also that Ms Pacman message killed me, im wheezing over here

Thr pokemon alts are already super disappointing with the lack of shinier but it would have been super cute to have little cosmetics on like some of the other mon.
It'll likely never happen, but a Lucario alt that references Sir Aaron (like Lucario's Halloween costume in Unite does) would be absolutely perfect for me.
The biggest tragedy of these alt changes is the loss of Pac-Man's home cooking getup, but the alternate designs are objectively more meaningful (and easier to distinguish from one another, which is a plus)
I feel like if these ideas were applied to an actual smash game with some amount of legal mandate oven-mit Pac-Man would stay just because he'd need four more alts since Ms. Pac-Man is owned by another company and I... Can't see anyone wanting to play as Pac-Mom or Pac-M'am or whatever her replacement is named.
YEAH, MORE REDESIGNS! Gotta say, the red DK with the black tie is the clear winner out of all the ones you've done for this vid, though I'm also a fan of yellow dark-skinned DK and all of Pac-Man's little hats.
The reason why PAC-LAND gets so much representation in super smash bros. Is because that was the game which inspired Shigeru Miyamoto to include horizontal scrolling in the original Super Mario Bros. This was confirmed in an interview. (I forgot who it was with)
@@just-yellow 'Better' doesn't always mean 'accessible to more people'. Of course it's not gonna be more accessible than the english one. But from a standpoint of someone who CAN use both, I find Pokewiki to have an overall nicer look, better arrangement of information and is overall easier to navigate (from my experience at least). I prefer to use it over Bulbapedia any day.

Pac-Man's 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th slots if they weren't Ms. Pac-Man would probably be: > Silvery gloves, purple boots, and a knight hat (Pac-Motos Charge mode) > Green gloves, pink boots, slightly greener skin, and a pink pair of headphones (Miru, with the bow being replaced with Pac-Man's headphones from the flyer) > Blue spiked gloves, red and grey spiked boots, skin tone matching World Rally Toc-Man (Reference to all 3 of Toc-Man's designs pre-Re-Pac) > Patchwork red-pink-cyan-and-orange gloves, black boots, and those novelty New Year glasses but they say 7650, worn at an angle above his eyebrows (Pac-Man 256 - the gloves are in reference to Glitchy, the boots are like the maze but mostly just for edge points, and the glasses reference how the glitch-wall and Glitchy both emit numbers and letters, as well as the goroawase code for "Na-mu-ko" used in many Pac-Man games, including Pac-Mania)
For the green Donkey Kong alt, I think you should differentiate the red letters from the orange tie, maybe with a lighter orange or a darker red. But your point still stands, these are really good reinterpretations for DK's color palettes.
Thank you for fixin my main Pac-Man. He deserves better. I would have just been happy with proper ghost colors as the gloves and boots, but you really went far beyond! They all look so amazing, I can't decide on a favorite!
I do like the minor tweaks on DK’s alts. Especially the Original DK, Super DK and the black alt where he has the purple tie since purple is my favorite color. (Rest in Pepperonis Purple DK alt) And as for Pac-Man, at first I would say recolors of him to reference the Ghosts and maybe Golden Pac-Man would work. But your solution of using Mrs Pac-Man, Pac-Man Jr, etc surprise me, while looking a lot better. Good job!
I love the change in the icons for each alt but one slight nitpick for Sonic is that the icon for the Werehog inspired alt could have totally been his icon from his game of origin. You have a Modern icon, a Classic icon and there too is the Werehog icon. I get it makes more sense cause it’s not exactly the Werehog but rather a recolour unlike the classic Sonic alt, I just think it would have been cool. Still, Love the videos!

Still remember when Pacman appeared and I was like "Ah cute the skins will be the couple" and good really mad that Ms Pacman didn't appear lol and the skins being hot trash didn't help... They should just make him the different designs he already had, it would at least each one be pretty different and easier to see from afar too
Pac-Man has come in different entire colors though, just look at multiplayer Pac-Man games like Battle Royale, there's even plush toys of his red, blue and pink variants! And in some instances there's this really neat lime green Pac-Man too. What I am most surprised about is that since his entire moveset revolves around referencing NAMCO as a whole, how come his official color palettes didn't do just that too?

For Miss Pac-Man she is legally owned by Bandai Namco, they just aren't allowed to use the source code of her arcade game in any rereleases of any kind because they lost a legal battle over it.
Random thought i had while watching this, is it would be a good idea to base duckhunts alts on diff dogbreeds ( unless he has some obscure version of him or if he is already based on dogs I dunnno)

They scream the need for either their shinies or simply better references (like Mewtwo having colors that call back to other legenderies, Lucario with other fighting types, Incineroar with real life wrestlers/Tiger Masks...)

The green DK alt predates King of Swing, having appeared in the original Smash Bros. (in Team Battle) and Melee. It's probably supposed to be based on King K. Rool. Not saying they couldn't've updated it to be based on that, like they did with Kirby's green alt being updated to GBA Green Kirby.

yeah, i also tend to hold the rant about 3DS Pac-Maze... But here's my rant about the alts too! Even without the Ms. Pac fiasco, the alts could've still been so much better, as the Jr. and Professor alts were possible, hell, just changing the gloves and boots to fit the colors of the ghosts would've been enough, which wouldn't even alter the "iconic" appearance, which in itself is an ironic statement because every single Pac-Person in the series is literally just Pac-Man but with a different hat or accessory
I'd love your take on Link for this. My frustration for his costumes is pretty much how you describe your frustration for Donkey Kong's costumes. They really couldn't make any model changes so the Twilight Princess, Dark Link and Fierce Deity costumes looked more in line with their canon appearances? They could have even used the same edited model for the Twilight Princess and Dark Link costumes!
Amazing just how much better your renditions of these Donkey Kong alts look honestly. The only one where I prefer the original over your version is the purple alt, I get the intent of making it blue and I think it makes more sense with the reference but I have a huge bias for purple. Your Pac-Man alts are great too

I'd love your take on Link for this. My frustration for his costumes is pretty much how you describe your frustration for Donkey Kong's costumes. They really couldn't make any model changes so the Twilight Princess, Dark Link and Fierce Deity costumes looked more in line with their canon appearances? They could have even used the same edited model for the Twilight Princess and Dark Link costumes!

Amazing just how much better your renditions of these Donkey Kong alts look honestly. The only one where I prefer the original over your version is the purple alt, I get the intent of making it blue and I think it makes more sense with the reference but I have a huge bias for purple. Your Pac-Man alts are great too
One day this series will be back, perhaps even with a skit where King K. Rool and Foxy get into an argument about equal division of treasure
Random reference that most people wouldn't get or care for but id say a good option for a dk costume would be his skylanders appearance with the yellow jumpsuit
