This is why this is my favorite original Columbo Nimoy almost gets away with it the credits are just about to roll Colombo needs to feed and walks out in just before the credits roll and he gets away with it Columbo comes back in
You learn something on Columbo every episode. Before seeing this episode I never heard of dissolving sutures, I thought they were all the same. Now that I know about them I looked them up. Some types of dissolving sutures can last for months, they are not all created equal. I suppose in the case of a heart operation where the heart is constantly beating, even the best of them they would only last a few days.
This is one of the few episodes where Columbo loses his temper. Great seeing “Helen Crump” playing a nurse. When he pushed Columbo that was assault on a police officer.
I still think it's Lee Grant. At least they had a reason for the murder. Grant just got tired of her husband. And Ross Martin? Kills his uncle for a painting and then frames his aunt? That's very very cold.
Y'know, if Nimoy wouldn't have been taking deep breaths and holding his hair, he could have snatched the suture from the robe and threw it in the garbage.
One of the very few times that Columbo lost his temper. Columbo knew Dr. Mayfield was trying to kill his colleague and that laugh was just a defense mechanism to hide his nervousness. Columbo knew if he didn't catch the doctor he would have finished his colleague off.
Once Columbo found the dissolving sutures regardless of where he found them, it was game over for the surgeon. He was supposed to use permanent sutures during the patient heart operation. Using dissolving sutures which are only meant to be temporary, made it clear he wanted the patient to die from another heart attack after the sutures had dissolved away and the stitched heart valve separated from the rest of his heart.
Never remember the character names, only the actors, McGoohan, Shatner, Culp etc Except this one. Dr Mayfield. Remember Leonard Nimoy as well of course. Definitely one of the better performances among many good ones
Despite all of his intellect and planning, he's actually a real failure as a murderer. He killed two people to cover his tracks, and never actually killed the guy he wanted dead in the first place!
Offhand I remember Leonard Nimoy as an undercover agent and magician called Paris in the original mission impossible and also in a movie I saw decades ago based on Aldous Huxley's novel about future genetic engineering called Brave New world. A very old Nimoy also made appearances in the modern Star Trek movies with Chris Pine as Spock from a different dimension whose planet was destroyed.
The Doctor locks the door after Columbo leaves, quickly takes out the suture from the surgical robe & disposes it before the lieutenant comes back in. The perfect murder!
Mr. Spock - the most dangerous murderer in the entire series. Murdererd 2 people and almost succeeded on the 3rd attempt in just 70 minutes - and on top of it he almost got away with it.
He’s one of the unlikable suspects. I mean Columbo didn’t respect his character/personality from the get go. Unsentimental list is: classical conductor, the gym owner, the police commissioner, security consultant, art critic, psychiatrist dog guy, magician nazi war criminal, celebrity photographer, beauty ceo, hypnotherapist/psychologist and the pompous architect. The respected list. Restaurant critic, country music singer, tv executive, spy master , army school head, psychology/ad man, famous writer, Mensa accountant, actor sleuth and wine owner.
Good episode and plot but Mayfield’s absolute cold bloodedness makes this one of my least favs. The best villains have some humor, charm or situation that makes them kinda likeable but this guy has none. Sheer psychopath.
Please stop showing the thumbnail for that putrid Mrs Columbo episode at the end of every video. Stop trying to push that stinker on the unwary. Even better would be to destroy all evidence of its ever having existed. Thank you in advance for exercising better taste and judgement!
That was also a holodeck simulation, somehow even worse than Fair Haven. It's why Ensign Kim was never promoted, he coded it shortly after getting an offscreen promotion, and immediately was demoted as a result.
I’ve always marveled at the murderers ability to act like they’re not the murderer
I can hear that mystery movie theme in my head. And the announcer saying tonight starring Peter Falk as Columbo.
So happy when it was a Columbo. Get the popcorn mom !
This is the best episode from Columbo ever
Nimoy was excellent in this Columbo.
This is why this is my favorite original Columbo Nimoy almost gets away with it the credits are just about to roll Colombo needs to feed and walks out in just before the credits roll and he gets away with it Columbo comes back in
This is absolutely one of my all time favourite episodes, but this scene was definitely already uploaded I'm afraid.
just doing their best to recycle :) ♻️
This is such a great episode
It's a good thing that Mr Spock didn't use the Vulcan nerve pinch on the Lieutenant!!! 🖖
The classic eyebrow raise of Nimoy!

I could watch these two all day
Something we were never aware of: health care costs on Vulcan were astronomical; now we know why.

Dr. Mayfield is the coldest killer in all Columbo series .
Him and George Hamilton in the Hypnotist episode.
@@henrynegro8397 Yes !!!

Columbo has got Kirk and Spock
And Koenig
And Khan!
Leonard Nimoy was a good looking man. Loved him so much as Mr. Spock.❤
Captain Kirk: For God's sake Spock, you're NOT Bones!
The doctor drove a Mercedes-Benz in this episode. It was sharp.
Had some interesting clothes too. Way better than the Spock outfit.
Top 5 Columbo episode..

Spock on the Holodeck 😄
That can’t be! Mr. Spock is a killer???
😱
And Captain Kirk was a killer *twice* !
Well, remember the Mirror Universe? :-)
It's not logical
Love columbo
Guys, this is a holodeck simulation.
One Captain Kirk has also played and failed on two other scenarios.
Those sutures were where? In his OWN gown? That’s not logical. Case dismissed.

Nimoy was one of the best Columbo murderers
Even Spock couldn't outsmart Columbo. That's not logical. Just one more thing.
So great Épisode !.
Sad that Léonard never comes back again
Never remember the character names, only the actors, McGoohan, Shatner, Culp etc Except this one. Dr Mayfield. Remember Leonard Nimoy as well of course. Definitely one of the better performances among many good ones
I've always conceal carried a kettle after seeing this disturbing episode.
Columbo got Spock and Captain Kirk
Despite all of his intellect and planning, he's actually a real failure as a murderer. He killed two people to cover his tracks, and never actually killed the guy he wanted dead in the first place!
This is what Spock would look like if he became evil.
No evil beard here, though.

Dammit, Jim. He's a Doctor, not a Vulcan!
get hit by reckless drivers
Grandpa Walton.
Glad to see a Waltons fan here !!
@@johnbipper4601 goodnight John Boy.
Spoke the mysterious killer.

Leave the doctoring to Bones!

Also the 'Psychic' (1989 ep. Anthony Andrews)
@@artmallory970 very true, but I was staying with the episodes made in late 60s-70s 🙄😃. I forgot to include the Sports team general manager .
Spock
No.
Good episode and plot but Mayfield’s absolute cold bloodedness makes this one of my least favs. The best villains have some humor, charm or situation that makes them kinda likeable but this guy has none. Sheer psychopath.

I do not recognize Mrs. Columbo. Doesn't exist.
