Fun fact about the Dunlendings, after they were defeated with the Uruk-hai at Helm's Deep, Theoden showed them mercy, this caused the surprised Dunlendings to stop fighting the Rohirrim and make peace with Rohan, even joining the fight with them against Sauron later.
I’m taking a Tolkien mythology class and your videos help so much! My instructor said we could watch your videos to learn everything covered in class.
Lol, is that a college class?
I loved my college Tolkien class.
They teach that? Haha
It’s at college.
Lucky guy, wish my college had a Tolkien mythology class :(
Couldn't help but shed a tear at the end. It's probably all Tolkein wanted while writing all of this. Peace.
Imagine engaging someone called "Wormtongue" as your chief advisor.
The Rohirrim nicknamed Grima "Wormtongue." He was called by that name by all but Theoden.
Todays its 50 years Tolkien died. Its incredible how is world can still feel so alive and have a depth ready to be explored
I love these videos that go into more depth of Tolkien's mythology. This is off-topic, but today is the 50th anniversary of Tolkien's death, so I'm sitting here watching Fellowship of the Ring. RIP Mr. Tolkien and thank you for this wonderful world you created
I don't know why but Rohan has for me one of the coolest sounding names in Tolkien mythology. I loved learning more about this great kingdom of men🙏
I've seen two people named Rohan idk if the name is Tolkien in origin or not. I've never looked into it
@@matthewlaflamme9019 Tolkien got it from an old French noble family, so that's why it sounds so "realistic".
My family and I look forward to your new episodes every week to watch together on the main TV in the living room. Thank you for making and sharing this.
It is time! This weekend starts off my end of year LOTR watch. Labor Day starts with The Fellowship of the RIng, Thanksgiving continues with The Two Towers, and Christmas/New Years ends with The Return of the King. Have done this tradition since my wife gave me the original DVD set. Awesome movies, wish Peter Jackson followed the books to the letter, it would explain a number of things. Once again excellent video, can't wait til next Saturday.
I find it interesting that while Aragorn reestablishes the line of kings in Gondor and Arnor, Eomer does as well since he is a direct Father to Son descendant of Eorl the Young.
Didn't Elwyns daughter marry Arragons son?
Love how Thorongill is really Aragorn. I wish that there could be a TV show or movie about young Aragorn. Always calling him Thorongill, then as show ends revealing that he is Aragorn...the future King Elessar
I love that after all these years Karen Wynn Fonstad's "Atlas Of Middle Earth" still gets referenced (8:30). One of the original labor of love fan works and way ahead of its time, like a paper and ink wiki. That book, her Pern Atlas, and the first Elvish dictionaries were impossible to put down when you tried to look up "just one thing."
This channel- by far the most awesome artistic on TH-cam
(All kind if arts-- the fantastic drawing/ paintings, the unique voice, and of course awesome explanation, music, maps and unfukingbelievable knowledge)
Thank you 🌟
(today September 2 we mark 50 years of Tolkin death (September 2 1973)
R.I.P 🔥.....
And again- Thanks for your amazing videos🪄
Rohan is my favorite faction of men from Tolkien. Thanks for doing this great piece on them. Excellent work.
The becons shall lit and rohan will answer. ❤️💖 We always appreciate your hard work to make these videos. We know it takes a lot of time and dedication towards these videos.
Before I really got into Middle Earth I always treated the race of men as an afterthought and never really thought of the various divisions. The more I got into it later on though and thanks to vids like these I really appreciated how they differed.
I see Rohan and other kingdoms like Dale as what men could do with their own strength and abilities. Cool as the Numenoreans and their two spin-off kingdoms are, they’ve always had some divine help on their side early on that still affected them even into the third age.
The men of Dale are honestly very underrated.
Really enjoyed this and part 1. Thank you for your efforts in creating these videos.
Awesome storytelling. Well done!
Wow! You didn’t leave out one detail- Bravo 👏🏼.
Amazing work 👏
Rohan is a fascinating kingdom. I wish we knew more about how it fared later in the 4th Age.
I love your channel!😀I learn so many things from you which I really like😊Greetings from Bulgaria
Love u so much, I was so bored until now!
Nice work dude thanks
Such beautiful tales. ❤ Gives me nostalgia.
Great work 👏
it was nice learning so much about the history of rohan😊
Pretty good video man
such a beautiful tale
Time to drop everything and chill 👌🏻So close to 1 million!!
God i love this channel, i appreciate you and Robert from In Deep Geek so much for taling your time to make these awesome videos for us!
Funny you should mention Robert - I’m hoping to meet up with him while I’m in London this week!
@@NerdoftheRings awesome man, it would be cool if you guys somehow found a way to make a video together. Anyways have a great time in London and greetings from St.Louis Missouri, USA.
excellent work
I'd like to see a Peter Jackson movie with Vigo mortenson a d karl urban as Aragorn and Eowmir after LotR, conquoring all of Saurans forces still left...good fight scenes, great charcters, great continuation...happy ending!
If possible, to complete the Rohan videos, try and make a unique Éomer video but regardless if not, these videos are incredibly well done and amazing
Fantástico vídeo amigo 👏👏👏👏👏👏🤗👍
Love these vids
Thank you for this epic Movie.
Have a nice Day
Rest in peace Tolkien it’s the 50th anniversary of his death great video
Keep up the good work😀😀😀👍
Nerd is not terribly far from 1Mil subs!! 😮😮
Just like the Germanic Ostrogoths, Rohirric culture was a mounted culture. It had separated from the Northmen, moved south, and had settled in close proximity with a civilization. In the Goths' case it was the Byzantine Empire and in the case of the Rohirrim, it was Gondor.
Easterling: So you too are horse warriors
Rohirim: But unlike you, we were never invaders
Easterling: Now, who's ignoring his past
You should also make video about the Kingdom of Angmar
How it came to be and how ended
I think you’ll be interested in this one! 😁

Ty !
I literally just finished reading the Unfinished Tales's part of Cirion and Eorl xD great timin
I and all your subscribers/Fans would love to see a video from you of a list of say 10 events in middle earth history made for the big screen. As well as say 5 long events told through a series!! Me I’d love for another epic trilogy of movies made in ways trying to be even bigger then the original trilogy. This being the epic first war against Melkhor later Morgoth. With an opening prologue showing the Valar singing the universe and Arda into creation!!!
There’s a major detail in the Rohirrim’s historical connection with hobbits which nobody else talks about, as far as I’ve seen: Folcwine’s son shares the name of the future husband of Sam’s daughter Elanor: Fastred. I wonder if the hobbit Fastred’s ancestors were somehow associated with Rohan, and thus he and Elanor bonded when they realized they both had ties with - and an interest in - the outside world, which was unusual for Shire hobbits.
I've wondered that Theoden had heard that holbytla could breathe fire from their mouths, which is usually taken to refer to them smoking pipe weed. His ancestors, the Eotheod, only knew of hobbits in the vales of Anduin, long before they moved to the Shire and before old Toby began cultivating pipe weed.
That's because Théoden didn't say that. The exact quote is "I had not heard that they spouted smoke from their mouths."
Just grateful to exist in the same world and time as Tolkien.
Does anyone know where to find the drawing at 9:40 of a hobbit leading a draft horse? Who drew it? I love it. I'd like to put it up in my home. It remind me of the Zen Ox herding pictures, but with a Tolkien slant.
These videos keep from the reality we live.
Brytta, the beloved 11th king of Rohan was my favorite for some reason, though we don't know much about him.
The next d&d campaign I'm running is LotR 5e. I'm loving your videos.
Never knew Theodens father is a great man
Makes sense when he said he was going to his forefathers mighty company in whom he will not be ashamed
Hello guys. I love this channel. Do you know any other good channels like this, about game of thrones-lore? :)
Wow. I think Imrahil's daughter, Éomer's wife, has one of Tolkien's most beautiful names.
~~Lothiriel~~
Im proud to have been named after this Kingdom
Are you Indian because it is a common name here
@@unkownhistory7660 yup
Did you get a new mic? Your the audio sounds clean af
MORE VIDEOS PLS!! I love this channel so much!!!
Coud you make thease video the historys of Andrást nurn Mordor
If I want to start reading the books. Which one should I start first?
Whats the name of the song playin in the background in the beginning
I would just love a video game about King Elessar and King Eomer finishing off the last of the Orcs in that area, and Eomer’s marriage, Faramir and Eowen would both be in it.
Shoot I’d even read a fan fic of that.
Nerd of the rings, i got a question. We know how powerfull a balrog is and how devastating the dragons of the middle earth are but who would win in a fight? Also can balrogs fly? Because when gandalf killed the balrog of moria it had some massive ahh wings yet didn't use them at all.
Oh boy, the greatest debate of them all.
“Do Balrogs actually have wings or were they symbolic?”
Rohan has on of the best Lord of the Rings lore’s of out of all time
50 years since the departure of the last Rohirrim
Hay so I just watched the Belrog video on if they had wings and I wanted to bring up things on why they had wing so first melcor seems like the person when creating something some of the components of it would not be practical I think they did have wigs as a aesthetic point not for use maybe the most us they can glide with then and the reason why they keep dying by falling is that Tolkien took many inspiration from Christian mythology so them always dying by falling, may be a metaphor on how since they fell with Melcor they can never ascend, they may only die by falling as they have fell.
You said the Rohirrim encountered the Stoors, but why then did they call hobbits Holbytla? I thought Stoors didn't live in holes.
Maybe after seeing the Eorlingas , the Stoors decided to hide in holes in the ground like 🐇...🫣
Some Stoors did. It wasn't as frequent but they did. Gollum (in "the hobbit") remembers sitting with his grandmother in a hole by their riverbank.
Hey, Nerd Of The Rings, I would like to ask you a question: what is your personal opinion on the conflict over whether Silmaririon, Unfinished Tales and Children of Turin are canon or not? Personally, I consider them canon
"holdwine" = loyal friend ))
Forth, Eorlingas! Rohan is my absolute favourite kingdom of Men in Middle-earth!
And Rohan will answer
I'd like to see a Peter Jackson movie with Vigo mortenson a d karl urban as Aragorn and Eowmir after LotR, conquoring all of Saurans forces still left...good fight scenes, great charcters, great continuation...happy ending!
2:14 this boar has the be the most random thing in Tolkien's writings.
Please I have been asking about this for months but no one is answering me. Please I need the sound from 12:20 to the ending
Forth Eorlingas!
Melian plsss
Perhaps I'm thinking of the movies, which aren't technically canon, but didn't Eowyn become the ruler of Rohan? It's been ages since I've read the LOTR books.
No. She became a sort of substitute lord for Theoden and Eomer while they were away, but Eomer was crowned King and Eowyn was Lady of Ithilien
Ride know to Gondor
🍻 I thought Eowyn became Queen with Faramir as regent? At least the movies seemed to elude to that end.
Muster the Rohirrum!!!🥰🦾🗡🐎🐎🐎📯🧝♀️🧝♂️🧙♂️🍻
Faramir became Prince of Ithilien with Éowyn as his wife. I don't know if she was titled a princess or not.
@@istari0 I guess I assumed so since she and Eomer were adopted kin. I guess they were lord and lady...🤔 In the movie at Dunharrow, Theoden commissions Eowyn to rule in his stead, "ere the battle goes ill..."
I seriously need to reread the books!🤣😃🍻
@@Eowyn3Pride Éowyn was placed in charge because Eomer was riding to war with Théoden. She was the senior member of the royal family not going to war.
@@istari0 ha ha, or so Theoden thought! "I AM NO MAN!!! AAARRGGHHHH!" 🤣🤣🤣😁🍻
The line of Rohan has been broken twice.
Muster the Rohirrm
😍😍😍👌
What if galadriel had accept sauron offer to rule middle earth together (in the rings of power)
I doubt he'd want to do a video on that show until season 2 comes out
As if that show had anything in common with Tolkein’s work other than some names …
What if ISILDUR destroyed the one Ring
What if sauruman wasn't given the Keys tho orthance
What if the 7 father's of the dwarf's awaked in Mount cundabad
What if the elves won the battle of unumbered Tears 😭
The 3 greatest kings : Eori, Helm Hammerhand and Theodeon
So theoden has Dunedain blood.
1:00 Leofa, or Beloved -- it's a Tolkien Two-fer, for sure! :D

My favourite part of Lord of the rings is Rohan
This would be perfect, if it weren't for the Mint mobile commercials from a forced, awkward on purpose Ryan Reynolds
Follow the linage all the way to modern times … come on~!
