How you thinned the paint ? Or you don’t have to thin the paint ?

With Vallejo model air paint it is pre thinned in the bottle and can be poured straight into your colour cup on your airbrush. If you need to thin model air Vallejo does sell thinners for this paint

@@KitchenTableModeller Ok thank you I’ll try straight from the bottle :). Also do you think 17mL of Vallejo model air brown will be enough to cover the top of my Tamiya Spitfire 1/48 ? (It’s my first build lol )

@OdysseyAviation Yes definitely will be enough to cover, using the airbrush you will only use 1 or 2ml of paint for a 48 scale build. Good luck and take time to enjoy your build👍

Hi. Thanks for the video. It is quite helpful. If I may ask, which airbrush are you using? I have a H&S Ultra with a 0.2mm needle and struggle a lot with Vallejo air. I'm wondering if I should change the airbrush or the needle for a 0.4mm? Thanks!

Hi Lucas thanks for your kind comment. I often experience tip drying of Vallejo model air especially with a 0.2mm set up, I do find spraying model air with a 0.3mm needle is easier 0.4 would be good too, also try using a drop of retarder in your paint this will also help with flow and final finish, either Tamiya or Vallejo acrylic retarder will be okay to use. I hope this is helps, feel free to message me if you wish to discuss any problem👍

Do you prime your models before painting? Great vids! I like model Air paints

Principal Drew's Scale Models Hi thanks for your comment, where I can I like to paint straight to plastic, if I have to do a lot of filling or have photo etch or resin I tend to prime to unify the surface. Model air works well for me too 😁

I have a problem with vallejo model air colours. When i use them without thinning them, it spoils and mess my model. Even if i add a few drops of thinner it spoils. I don't know what to do so if you guys can give me any advice i'd be thankful. Great vid, keep on doing!

XxZORINCIRE 861xX Vallejo Model air works well if you but a drop or two of their flow improver in your colour cup on your airbrush, this will help avoid tip drying and give good paint flow, I sometimes thin with a little Tamiya X20A acrylic thinner mixed with 1%Tamiya acrylic retarder (2.5ml of retarder in a 250ml X20A bottle), I find I need less of this thinner for thinning model air and it helps with paint flow and levelling. As model air is thinned for airbrushing from the bottle if it is thinned more then you need to keep your air pressure you spray at a bit lower to avoid the paint running over the model surface, I usually spray at about 15psi spraying multiple fine layers of paint till I’m happy with the final result. Also I find using an airbrush with a 0.3mm needle/nozzle setup can help to aid the paint flow without needing to thin model air. Let me know how you get on, I’m happy to help where I can. Best regards and happy modelling 👍
