    One of my favorite things about your videos (besides the amazing content) is that you pick up trash along the way. My childhood was spent walking the sides of the highways in SE Missouri picking up trash with my Grandpa, so it's very near and dear to my heart. Love the channel!

    I love that you guys are always picking up the trash that other people leave behind due to their laziness or just plain lack of caring for our great outdoors... I always try to do the same whenever needed.... I do alot of backpacking into high mountain lakes for fishing and overnighters and i will bring an extra trash bag with me just in case someone left a mess... I will never understand the mentality of some people.... dont ruin it for everyone else... just makes me wonder what kind of mess the leave in their back yard lol.... keep up the great work and great videos.... Respect from Oregon...

      We do the same as it is beyond me people go to pristine spots and are careless and apathetic leaving behind their rubbish. . Thank you for being one of the good ones. Met these two in Louisiana last year. They are genuine and humble. It was a treat and I enjoy watching their submissions.

    You two are very good people. No one picks up trash. I respect your ability to tent camp in the summer in the heat and humidity of Arkansas. I tent camped at Albert Pike some 20 odd years ago during the labor day weekend and thought I would die of heat stroke and bug bites. We now own an RV and have given up tent camping but love watching ya'll camp. Looks like you have a lot of fun.

    Again, absolutely beautiful drone footage! I love that you both are “teaching” about camping in your videos along with showcasing the areas involved. We always clean up trash along trails and at campsites too...one thought- get yourselves some ‘garbage pickers’! They help to get to hard to reach places and will save your hands from ???? and from possible cuts. Thanks for all you do!

    I always get a weird feeling driving through Albert Pike. I had to turn around on Eagle Rock once due to rising waters, the first crossing past the falls. Rained all evening and night into the next morning. Walked backed to the picnic area preparing to make the long journey back by forest roads. Luckily someone pulled up and gave me a ride back to my vehicle parked at Albert Pike. Those drone shots of the creek look awesome! Never understood people who leave trash. You’re going out there to enjoy the wilderness why do you want to trash it out?! Good on y'all for cleaning things up. My dad always taught me to leave a campsite in better condition than you found it.

    I recall that flood very well, I had just moved to Missouri right before that flood, it was truly a tragic event. I still return to the area every couple of years to visit family and such. I have been through that area to many times to count....

    Hey guys love that area, I'm 56 and my grandfather had a cabin when I was a kid we took a left behind the iron gate just before Lowrey"s store there at Albert Pike. Back then, they used to stock the river with trout, we would catch them with whole kernel corn out of the can. We heard about the flood, it was devastating.... I have been back once since the flood and all the sites and bathrooms were all closed... It's sad. Always enjoy you videos!!

    Hi Guys, loved the video. I'm an avid kayaker and can't believe how much trash people dump in our rivers and oceans. So much that a couple of years ago I purchased one of those mechanical hand gadgets the help you pick-up garbage from about 3-4 feet away. I take it with me on every kayak trip along with a small trash bag. Typically I come back with a 1/3 full bag but sometimes it's about half full. I don't understand people and their nasty habits. Good job!

    Over around De Witt and and surrounding area, them buffalo gnats are so bad during the late spring,you can hardly go out side. They drive the deer crazy! But on the lighter side, the otter family are a really a site to see. Hiking the trails and such really let's you see nature at its finest. You can discover things never seen. Y'all stay cool and hydrated out there.✌

    Thanks for picking up the trash and respecting nature. You know there are people who like to go have a good time but then just leave their trash all over the place. I guess because I was taught to leave something the way I found it (if it's clean) then I clean up my mess. I just don't understand some people. Anyway I used to clean up in my neighborhood where trash was all over the place. After we got trash containers from the city it's not as bad.

    Love yalls videos I always make a point to pack an extra garbage bag on my backpacking/kayak/swimming hole trips and pick up trash left by others. I live in upstate NY and the Adirondacks and Catskills are my backyard around here.. unfortunately littering has become such a problem and I fear that if we don’t all pitch in to help this issue they will someday close the beautiful state parks or start charging to explore the land here- love the message you’re spreading! Great video. Glad you showed the bridge. I've been wanting to see it and didn't have time when we were there last. The brier creek rd had been closed for years and the long creek no longer went all the way through. Now it's even shorter. Great for backpack camping, but a lot less spots for car camping. Wish they'd open both those roads back up for off road use at least just for a little more access.

    Tell you something that really works on trees that have holes ,cuts etc. from whatever reason. Roofing tar..... fill in the cut in the tree with the tar and smooth it so it flows with the tree and will not hold water.Works everytime , well for me it has. I filled in where a 8 inch limb had broke off a beech tree and the tree just naturally grew right over the wounded area. What the tar does is keep water, insects etc.from destroying the tree. Try it....you'll like it !

    As always, another great video!! I've been meaning to ask...do you guys run into many snakes, like rattlesnakes and moccasins? I live in Southwest Florida, so of course we have a lot. You guys aren't that far away in Arkansas.

    How do y'all find these great spots? We've driven around the national Forest in Oklahoma and Arkansas and only find overgrown spots with no pretty water areas.

    • @CodyandKellie
      @CodyandKellie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Cody spends hours on the NF maps website, and google maps looking for possible areas. Then we drive and scout out every area he found. We find more areas like you have described above than ones we find like in this video. It is a time consuming process, but when you find a good spot, the payoff is worth it!

    Where do yall dump the trash after pickups? my group had to wait until we got to Highway 70 to dump 5 bags of trash 4 of which were pickup. They really need more dump stations or maybe even bear proof trashcans every few miles down the mountain roads, seems like this place gets little attention by the forest service and it's left to volunteers and the public to clean up after the irresponsible grown children who frequent the area, It also seems overrun with OHVs now riding through the mountain roads blasting country music at 1 am :( def not what it was like 10 years ago when I was in my 20s and love to spend my weekends there, much of the charm of the place seems to be dwindling.

    • @CodyandKellie
      @CodyandKellie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depending on the type of clean-up we do. If we are just picking up a couple of trash bags, we will take home, But if we are hosting a clean-up, we will contact the people in-charge (city parks, US Forest Service, Ect) of the land and ask if they can pick up the trash if we place in a area for them. We have had one encounter with the music that late and agree. But we hope to keep trying to protect the area the best we can.

    We are headed to the Ouachita this weekend as a couple and I'm wondering how y'all find all these places? Do you guys call first or do you just head up there and pay and then find your own spot or do you have to reserve?

      Hope y'all have a blast. We just head out and find a spot. This is all National Forest. There is no place to check in like with National Parks, or Rec areas. You just drive down dirt roads until you find a spot that has a fire ring.

    Have y’all ever tried a Thermacell? I don’t know how they work for biting gnats but they work shockingly well for mosquitos. They have a new one that hooks up to a 10.00 Walmart butane canister and lasts for many days of continuous use. The older style little butane cartridges can be refilled cheaply as well. We use our all the time.
