I love this video! She so works slowly and is easy to follow. The fact that she didn’t edit out the crooked cut makes me feel more confident to make a goof and deal with it 😊.
Wonderful pattern, love that it has a larger piece for those fabrics you want to showcase, also love that it has so little waste. I really appreciate that your videos are so easy to follow and you get right down to business. So glad I found your channel.
Oh my goodness--rookie error! I've made 14 twin "strip quilts" for my grands over the last 14 years--no quiliting skills needed. So, I'm recently retired and thought, for this newest g'girl (who has 6 big brothers!), I'd step up my game. I've been collecting fabrics for 2 years (no fat rolls), but knew I could adapt. Calculated what I neded for a 60x75 quilt and realized i needed 30 squares. So I began to cut-30 sets, not realizing that each set makes 2 squares! i only needed 15 sets. I'm both annoyed with myself, but relieved. Now I have an extra set for another complete quilt. Maybe baby Lydia will have a baby sister one day. So grateful for this wonderful tutorial! Don't be like me.🤣
I love the fact that you have the Big Blocks together to make one big block cool like the other lady said showcase your material and patterns thank you
So happy I found your channel, I absolutely love all your quilt patterns, and so thankful you offer free printable ones!! So kind of you. Your instructions are easy to follow and you do a fantastic job of teaching . THANK YOU
I really like this pattern. when I get caught up with UFO'S I definitely want to make this one with different color ways. Thank you for your tutorials, clear and concise.
Hi Amanda! This pattern is awesome for beginner quilters and for the fabrics that are too beautiful to cut into small pieces. Thank you for the tutorial!
This is a great pattern!! Especially for helping any beginner to learn straight line sewing! And it can show off any fabric for the big blocks! Thanks So much!!
Amanda, just saw your youtube channel. Your no nonsense down to business attitude is what I like. I'm a self taught quilter and I've tried getting other people to take up quilting but without success. Maybe if they see your videos it will encourage them. Thanks.
This is perfect, I have some fabric my niece designed, so I will make a big centre panel of my favourite and use the rest to do this design. I love this. Thank you
I made this quilt recently using the same fat quarter packet. It was gifted to a little boy . Thank you for such a great, easy pattern that produced a lovely quilt. I had the pack for a long time, it was waiting for a perfect pattern and yours was it !
Grateful for this beautiful free pattern and instructions!! It is nice to find one that utilizes larger prints. It came together beautifully!! I love how versatile it is size wise too. 🤩
Love this!!! I’m not new to sewing. And I’ve made quilts before, but only two. I want to make a king size quilt, but don’t want to be sewing forever!!! These blocks make great use of the FQ and there aren’t a ton of tiny cuts!! This is the pattern I’m going to go with. Thanks for sharing!!! 🩶

Thank you so much for your pattern! I have a lot of fat quarters and this looks like a wonderful pattern to use for them! Thanks for being so generous with your pattern!
Love this pattern,I’ve been quilting for many years but only now starting to do precut fabrics. Thanks for the pattern on my list for sure. Love your explanation, Gert. Canada🇨🇦
This quilt was so much fun to cut and assemble! Great for beginner piecing. I laid out a row to determine if seams needed to be nesting. Figured out one seam per block needed to be nesting, and then the seam created by sewing rows together would have to be nesting with the next row to make it easier to line up seams and have it lay flat. Thanks so much for this design and the pattern. Easy to follow instructions. I’m looking at new fat quarter bundles for next quilt!
How I'd love to have a favourite fat quarter quilt shop, or any quilt shop for that matter! I live in Greece where quilting is not a tradition and hence I have to order almost everything online, if available for delivery here. I adore the materials I see online but have to make do with whatever I can find. Lovely pattern btw. Thank you.
I LOVE this simple use of fat quarters ! I have some fat quarters. That I’ve been waiting to find the perfect pattern for and here it is ! Thanks so much ! I did “like” and “subscribe”. Looking forward to more !
Thank you for the wonderful pattern! I have so many pieces of material that aren’t necessarily fat quarters, but I can use to make this type of pattern. Break down that stash! ❤
I just wanted to let you know that I found this last week. I ordered fat quarters and they came in a couple of days ago. This has got to be one of the easiest patterns I have come across. It is so interesting. If I can find a way of sending you a picture of the quilt top I will. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much and so glad to hear you loved the pattern! If you are on Facebook, check out this group for sharing photos of my patterns - facebook.com/groups/823574572081428

I just discovered your channel and Ilove your designs! Your videos are really clear to follow for a beginner like me. I just got my jelly roll in the mail and am making your split tail fence pattern, next it will be the interweaving pattern and now this! I just love it! Thank you for the easy patterns!!

I have just finished making 2 of these (my first ever quilts) do you have a tutorial of how to put the while thing together with batting, backing fabric and binding?
Oh yay! Congrats on finishing two quilt tops!! Watch out, you may get hooked ;-). I don't have any videos yet of basting, quilting or binding...but they are on my list!

Thank you for showing and teaching of easy quilting... i have made rag quilts and now I love this one.. Amanda.. and all i need to do now is put on my backing??? is there an easy way to do that too???? Many thanks SN
Hi Sharon, once you complete your quilt top, you will layer it with batting and backing. Pin it to stay in place and then quilt. I don't have any videos on that process, but I'm guessing there are some out there!

Thank you for this tutorial and pattern. I'm making my very first quilt and I'm certain my fat quarters aren't the size you suggested. Can I reduce the size of the pattern? It's fine if it's not sized perfectly.
Hi Lisa, if your fat quarters aren't quite large enough, you can reduce the size of your cut pieces, just make sure to reduce them all by the same amount so that they fit together as they should in the completed block :). Hope this helps!!
Hi Shelly - I always use this website when trying to determine the amount of fabric needed for quilt backings - It's a fantastic tool!! www.quiltersparadiseesc.com/Calculators/Backing%20and%20Batting%20Calculator.php
I would like to make this quilt using 3 meters of Little Red by clothworks. Each meter is a different pattern. I would like to make the next size up. Should i get another 2 meters of fabric? The shop only had yardage.
That helps - if you are wanting to make the next size up (60" x 60") it requires 12 fat quarters or 3 yards of fabric - so you may be good with the 3 meters you have. If you are wanting to make the 60" x 75" I would get an additional meter. Hope that answers your question!!

How much backing would I need for the 15 fat quarters / 60x75 quilt?
Hi Shelly - I always use this website when trying to determine the amount of fabric needed for quilt backings - It's a fantastic tool!! www.quiltersparadiseesc.com/Calculators/Backing%20and%20Batting%20Calculator.php
I would like to make this quilt using 3 meters of Little Red by clothworks. Each meter is a different pattern. I would like to make the next size up. Should i get another 2 meters of fabric? The shop only had yardage.
Hi Lisa - I'll be honest and tell you that I don't know the answer to that because I don't know the conversion from meter - SORRY!
@@MaterialGirlQuilts it’s ok. Meters are minimally larger than yards. So how would you answer this if I said yards? Lol
