I know the support mods add up but still cheaper than units that are made similar with less mods. Planar Portable Diesel Air Heater goes for $1200 and its just a heater in a waterproof case.
Interesting project - glad it worked out for you. I'd be curious if you'd see any deformation in the thermoplastic around the exhaust pipe when you remove that metal plate - the hole was cut very close to the size of the pipe (could have been a bit bigger), and the plastic was likely touching the hot exhaust. And enlarged hole solves that, of course, if it becomes a problem (perhaps even filling the annular space with high-temp gasket material as insulation). Your approach seems to work in practice, though...
That battery spec can output max 20amps. Has no issues firing up any diesel heater. You can check the battery out on my Amazon link. It’s currently on sale for another hour.
Thanks for update,it's available here in the UK. I will incorporate a power supply also as to charge the battery when hooked up. I am aware that this defeats the object of being so compact, but I'm trying to get the best of both. Have you thought about charging the battery when it's hooked up to your cigarette lighter input/output? Thanks again for a very well put together project.
Dude, WTF!?!? Use the waste plastic you cut off as your filler. Otherwise you aren't welding. Cut it into little strips & add it in as you weld along otherwise it's too thin & can leak. You don't want enclosed fuel leaks 2 inchs from the burner. Don't half ass when it comes to flammables &/ or gasses
no leaks and its not that easy to light if it leaks anyways. My first one use to leak from the factory tank breather and I kept towels inside the box to soak it up. never been an issue over the last 4 years of using it. besides I design a brand new ground up all in one case out of aluminum soon
sweet mods. that is a great build!

Nicely done. I like it 👍🏼
I wish someone would build an all in one to market like this.
coming soon
make it bluetooth capable too haha
@@joeya1970 100% - end user will have the option. the case will be designed for end using DIY type.

Yeah, worst case, I make the hole bigger. My other 5kw build is done the same and I been running that one for years with no issues.
Did You use LIFEPO4 battery ... tbey are more power dence . Good job .
Yup. 4th link from bottom of links is the battery I used.
Great build. Doing something similar using Mikwaukee batteries. Any chance youd be willing to share the stl files for your output screen box and cap?
Looking good! Keep us posted on the run time. I'm planning to use a 50ah battery but if I could get away with the 20 that would be awesome.
Wow. Soooo nice. Gotta build myself one. Love the video!
Also which case did you use to fit this all in. I didn’t see that in your links? Or maybe I missed that
Mention and showed it in the video. It’s a harbor freight Apache 3800 case.
Great ideas, just a thought but surely that battery doesn't give out enough amps to fire up the unit(9.amps plus)? or have I missed something

@@stevejohnson5461 I use it in my truck camper so I have a dc to dc charger in the truck I use to charge up the battery when traveling.
Did you ever notice a plastic or rubber burning smell? Does it go away? I just got one and has a smell.
I haven't noticed any odd smells with any of the units I built so far.
How long do you think the 20ah will run it for?
I believe I got around 8-10 hrs.
