Video couldnt have come at a better time! Feel like i just got to the point of knowledge where i understand how little i know! In any pursuit, its very frustrating when you decide to start playing the game "right" and youre still losing against someone less knowledgeable, just placing stones where it feels good. Can be tempting to say "no, youre not supposed to play there!" You know its technically a bad move, but dont have the skill yet to punish.
In high level games players know they shouldn't be playing in some way because their opponent can easily punish them at their level. But being low level player we still have to prove a move doesn't work. And if we cannot prove.. well, then that totally works and we can only deal with it
I think that unexpected and blatantly stupid moves are two different things. Opponent might take unusual corner variations like starting with 5-5 and this one is really unexpected as well as capable of containing some trick play (which is why unexpected moves are usually played). Trick play can be really hard to identify in unusual moves further into the game when simple block is not an option. So I'd say that one should be prepared to big surprises even if they think they play solidly against illogical moves.
Hi, I would appreciate if you would use more gender inclusive pronouns in your videos, the constant and exclusive use of “him” could be off putting to anyone who is not a man trying to learn Go.
@@GoMagic If I'm right what his original language is judging by the name (Russian), I can totally understand him. Neutral pronon here by default is "he" and it's only natural to project this kind of thought process into other language lol.
I am just loving your Channel! It's a modern version of other good ones on YT, but so more clear and objective.
Really, thank you!
We're happy to help!

Indeed in Go if you can play a strange move and justify it, make it work - it's all good =)

When i was new to go i was all attack but then i started playing against better players and had to learn how to control territory
That’s a common path in Go-starting with all-out attacks and then realizing how deep territory control can be. Every game brings new insights 👍
I don't even know the rules of Go.
Go Magic has a great Rules of Go series you can check out!
Then you should check out the Go rules series on this channel
This was how I was 6 months ago, I now own a go board and am sending all my friends to this channel so i can play them

Vadim tries to do that but sometimes he fails. =) We really hope it doesn't make Go theory feel different for you.
