@@mgariepy42 While he was making movies consistently it's hard to deny that his career went downhill overnight. He went from being the hottest property on the market in early to mid 2000s to practically disappearing by the end of the decade. His movies during that era were between total trash to somewhat trashy. Just look at his filmography between 2009-2020 and compare it to movies he did between 2000-2008. They got no exposure whatsoever, no theatrical releases, no promo tours, made by unknowns and starring unknowns with miniscule budgets. I would understand if he switched from big Hollywood movies to art-house indies a la Viggo Mortensen, but he just went from making big commercial movies to making bad and cheap commerical movies. It seemed that his agent was scrapping the bottom of the barrell trying to find a job for him during that period. If it wasn't for Penny Dreadful he could've just completely went into oblivion. I mean he even addressed it himself hinting that he said no to the wrong people (it is assumed that he declined Warner Bros offer of Chris Nolan's Batman reboot). Could it be the reason for his career fail? Maybe not. But it's hard to imagine that there wasn't somekind of drama with big Hollywood bosses behind the scenes for a star of his level at the time, to just vanish in a span of less than 2 years. Look at Keanu Reeves who revealed that WB blacklisted him for 15 years for refusal to make Speed 2, only lifting their ban for 47 Ronin in 2012 when the studio management changed. I love the body positioning in this scene with how Richie is against the wall and frank gradually closes in, when he realises Richie has his guard up he backs off only to try and close the gap when bringing up the wedding, as if he is holding dominance over Richie.
Lol "you got help from your parents?" He wanted sooooo bad to invalidate him like "oh he must have rich folks" only to find out he grew up barely middle class lmaoooo which probably makes him hate him even more, tbh 😂
And I like how Frank brushes it off in a completely non-hostile or arrogant way. Kinda like "huh? Oh no, I bought this" and it seems like he's not a materialistic type.
After “Oppenheimer” (and his one scene with Jon Stewart), it makes me excited to see what Josh Harnett is doing next. This was so hard to watch, but it was great to see these two work their differences out. Love Josh and Ebon.
I don’t know why but I feel Like Ritchie is going to get his family back ….. call it a hunch but yeah especially considering Frank will be in jail for murder
The cameos ruin the feel of the show for me. Everything feels really authentic, but then sometimes you'll be watching going why is Bob Odenkirk on screen right now. Like love Olivia Coleman but it just feels so random and out of place
Gotta respectfully disagree. The more badass actors performing on a show about my industry, the better. Plus I have loved the casting so far, nothing has felt out of place for me, personally.
It’s the tight quarters. Ritchie’s only moves is to angle out and pretty much leave. Otherwise he walks right into Josh who’s too close for comfort or into his house which is a no-no. Then Josh actually touches him which Ritchie wants no parts in lol.

There's no map for this kind of stuff. You're a stepdad, you're in love with a family and it's weird as hell. You're working a real job, doing all the work as a father to commit to a lifestyle. But you get tired of waiting in backrooms and avoiding the situation. You're not sure if your life is your own and if the family you're investing in is really actually yours. So you push. But you're a nice guy. You think you're a nice guy. When you try to find the middle ground you can see the bitterness, and that bitterness comes from you being in love and having money. You can't apologize for that because it's a well of sadness that circles the drain. So you try. But you're trying against Richie, who wears his pain on his sleeve. Yes, a grown man would do this, he just didn't have the prescience and the courage to admit the love between them is there, will always be there. The truth is he sees Richie and he's scared, because Richie is still clearly in love. He's a suitable father. And for the first time in his life he's realizing his money bought him a family, and he feels like he's stolen it... and he has. And it's a ridiculous pill to swallow for someone who probably felt dreamy the whole time. Because he was the revenge rebound, but the revenge was against life. He wants to fix it, but there's no fixing this. Now, if he had the stones to risk it all he'd press the issue, but there's a kid involved. This isn't his game to play. Raising that kid is all these 3 people care about and it's more than enough. So do you screw with that? So he's making a rapport. It's never gonna make sense, it's not meant to. People really living their lives have awkward conversations and realizations like this all the time, uncomfortable conversations are when you realize something is up. You only get there when you're trying 150%. I've counseled all kinds of crazy families, but the basic is that most people want to ruthlessly CARE. Nobody should care about being awkward, find the right thing. It's way more important.

The tension moving through his face and the fidgeting that's also shifty af vs Taylor Swift playing in the background. He's phenomenal
