- Fire by friction plus making char cloth using a bootlace and Knife.
making fire with a Bow drill is a great skill to learn even though there are easier ways to make a fire.
The key is to Practice and have a go. Join me as i try to gather materials and make a fire which i will then use to make char cloth.
Char cloth is a great addition to your fire kit.

Great stuff, loving the parachute shelter, that looks awesome.
Love the humour mate.
Absolutely love this. Brilliant.
Top skills Leigh great video.
Brilliantly done
The start reminded me of Remo Williams unarmed and dangerous. The ability to create flame by spinning a twig in his fingers.
Nice , also like the battery and wire wool method .
sitting here 1000 miles from home laughing my ass off feel like crap but you have made my day Butt cheers from Straya
Great video. Very informative and good tips 👍🏼
Just in time, heading out on first wild camp on Wednesday.. Thanks Leigh!!
Excellent work as usual. I hope you've got more tips and skills for us to learn and practice. Looking forward to your next vid.
It's amazing how our ancestors survived really, to think how cheap, small and reliable a Bic lighter is, best stock up on these I feel.
Brilliant vid, deffo trying the char cloth making this weekend 👍
Hi Leigh, great video. If you scrabble round on the floor round the trunk of a big tree like a Sycamore or Oak you will find hundreds of really tiny twigs that fall between your tinder and next size up twigs. Even if they are damp they light really easily as they are so thin, each about a quarter or less than a matchstick. A large hand full of these can be collected in minutes and really help to get a fire going.
The small stuff from pines etc are really combustible too.
Thanks for this, bud. I learnt something new today 🙂👍
Top video
Greetings
Lmao like the intro
Absolutely superb video sir..... best video you've done , fantastic detail regarding the dual notch flare technique ( an essential feature which is hardly ever shown )...
Really excellent demonstration... thanks...
At first I thought you were bluffing on the boot lace and you were using a carbon steel blade , and u were gonna harvest some chaga and flint ...
😎👍 well done .
Good vid mate, I've not tried the bow drill, always seemed hard work and I'm a lazy B'stard. 😛I've made plenty charcloth to use with a flint and steel although I've not practiced that for a while either (see above 🤭) but I find denim makes really good charcloth. Thanks for showing and being honest about it, it seems a real faff to get it to work, you must have been chuffed when you did it.
I learnt so much from this, thank you. I was surprised it shredded your bootlace. Do you sell the little tins?
Good stuff. I wonder who the idiot with a little knowledge is dangerous, was so close to the bushcraft survival school. Keep stuff like this coming 👍😎
