- I really liked the Fitbit Versa when I reviewed it last year. For just $200, it offered a robust set of health-tracking tools in an attractive (if familiar) design, with a long-lasting battery to boot. So it's no surprise then, that the original Versa became Fitbit's best-selling smartwatch. When it came time for the company to unveil a successor, it didn't have much to improve. That didn't stop Fitbit from squeezing a few unexpected features (or expected, for those paying attention to the leaks), starting with adding an onboard microphone for Alexa support on the Versa 2. Oh, and the new watch still costs the same as its predecessor.

It's pretty much the same software. Sleep Score it's already on the Versa also
The previous generation versa's hardware is going to be outdated (no microphone to support Alexa)

@@jorgesolis5055 I do agree that it can be overrated but Alexa does respond to you using results it obtains from google, if you wanted an in depth weather report, get your laptop out and get a detailed report.

It's frustrating to see text messages on your wrist and be limited to pre-programmed answers
Looks a lot smoother and snappier than the current Versa as well, which is nice because all of the transition animations on my Versa are pretty janky.

I've already got it for Christmas as a 🎁, it's amazing! But the only bad thing about it is you need a phone in order for it to work, you will need to download an app for it to work. Which is kind of upsetting, but I adore though. My precious babyy!!⌚
I loved my Fitbit Versa,but the problem is the unit itself doesn't last. I have called the company and they have replaced it. Each time, it only lasted about 6 months. I'm afraid to buy a new one, but I don't know if there's any better fitness watches.😔
That's pretty much been all Fitbit models. My wife and I always did the same as you stated. We just had to move on, it got old
If u want a better fitness watch why not try samsung Galaxy watch active or gear sport

Finley Wiltshire You don't have to buy the latest generation. Even something like the series 2 is decades ahead of this piece of crap. (and costs around the same or cheaper)
The battery won't last you 5 days. But with the limited features the Versa had your better off buying an analog watch.
Finley Wiltshire the Apple Watch is a very good choice. They are fast and last long (and have a great display). If you’ll wait one month the Series 5 will launch, and the Series 4 will get cheaper.
Googles assistant is for far ahead of everyone else. If a product isn't using that front and center I'm not interested. Alexa has barely improved and all its new features are focused on shopping at Amazon and being a hub for lights and such. I have all the assistants everywhere but I only ever say "Hey Google" because over time I've learned that's the one that will give me the right answer.
@@EL_wardan haha me too except its also a great argument settler. When one insists someone was in this TV show and you are adamant it was another actor! Hey Google solves it heh. And come to think of it, its also great at helping my terrible memory for movie actors names and really trivial stuff like measurement conversions.

Emma Jean yes, but if when you first get your Fitbit you can try prenium for free and if you like it can I pay it monthly. Right now I’m not using premium and it has a lot of features!

Cherry Phoenix special edition comes with the special edition cloth band, and also the regular band. The regular just comes with the regular silicone feeling band no special bands.
So a regular versa but amazon edition? Nothing majorly new it’s like a Versa 1.3

The Amazon Alexa availability on the Versa 2 makes it much more than a versa 1.3 if your house is already set up with Alexa. I control everything at my house with it and the availability of it on a Fitbit watch is worth the purchase in my opinion.
What if I have no Amazon devices in my home? Is it still worth it to get the versa 2, or should I just get the original versa? This will be my first fitness tracker.

CORRECTION: they removed 2 buttons and navigation is not simplified, it's the same.
Actually it takes 2 taps to get to the exercises, before it was just 1 button tap away.

Finally spotify integration. It's sad that they didn't have an app for all Fitbit users. There is still a lack of an actual app store which will keep the Fitbit inferior to other smartwatche devices. Also, more free watch faces!

Careful with Fitbit! They rolled out an update that bricked my Versa after just 4 months of use. It just keeps restarting.

No, only control of your Spotify Connect devices, not direct Spotify access on the watch.

Thank you for this small first test of the Fitbit Versa 2. I own a Samsung Gear Sport that I love since october 2018. I was hesitating when I wanted to buy a new smartwatch about a year ago, between the Gear Sport and the Versa but finally I found myself on the Samsung one. But now that the Versa is going to be released on September, I love the design and there is finally a built-in mic and an Amoled screen like on my Gear Sport which is amazing. But I am wondering if we can reply to text messages directly via the Versa 2 with the mic like on my Gear Sport ?
I've read in an article that you will be able to reply via voice to notifications. Can't wait to see this smartwatch in the store

My wife and I each purchased the Fitbit Versa awhile ago when they first became available. I didn't use mine right away. When I went to use it about a year later it would not work. Being a big Fitbit Fan, I went and bought another Fitbit Versa II. A little while later, after out of warranty , my wife's stopped working. (would not sync with phone). I noticed that the Versa II had a different charger?? After my Versa II was was out of warranty it stopped syncing also. Now I have three non working Versa's and two chargers and many bands. I was so disgusted that I am also done with Fitb. I sold my last 3000 shares of stock at a loss.
Any idea guys, how can we change the language from spanish to english? Everything looks fine in the app... Is there an exact language option somewhere? :D

Galaxy Watch Active 2 is a better smartwatch even for exercise in most cases honestly, like better build quality.

Sharon Money you don’t need the subscription to access the watch. I think it’s a waste of money to do so.
This might be compelling as a secondary watch for me when I am on the road. I have an Apple watch series 3 and while I do love all the integration and apps for all my Apple devices, I am not very keen on having to charge my watch every 24 hours. It will last a bit longer if I turn off certain features but overall it usually lasts one day which is becoming a deal-breaker for me since I travel quite a bit. The Fitbit doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the Apple watch but at least I won't have to worry about charging it as much.

So it can control Spotify but the real question is can you download playlists directly to the Versa 2?
No you cannot. You have to do this through a computer it does not work offline with the Spotify app
The regular versa works with Apple Music if you have a iPhone

I pre ordered versa 2 good thing is that you can always return if you are not happy. Compare to Samsung its cheaper and have a nfc pay. And battery life is better than Samsung.

5 days battery life compared to 1.5 . still the lack of GPS is really annoying. Hopefuly fitbit will introduce a GPS version making the best smartwatch out there.

for fitness: fitbit versa(now the the 2)
for clout: apple watch
all other watches you might as well just get a regular watch lol

I loved the passive display of the Pebble, that's why I switched to a Garmin vivoactive 3. In the end, throughout the day most of the time "it's just a watch" and having a readable passive display is the best thing.
And don't get me started about the physical buttons 😁 the Pebble was just perfect, so sad the Time 2 never made it to the market.

Agreed. Somehow Fitbit can't get even remotely close to the media controls of the Pebble Time. And now that they're removing two physical buttons, it's gonna get even further away. Incredibly annoying.

Fitbit markets the Versa 2 as having up to 6 days battery life. This is a lie. I have just had to replace my Versa because the battery only lasts approx. 2 days. This is despite disabling all the resource hogging features. The replacement is exactly the same and the battery is getting pretty low pretty fast.

Fitbit pay is a joke. Only supports Santander as a traditional bank in the UK. Don't want to really sign up for Starling - an online only bank just for Fitbit pay.

I left Fitbit after my ionic broke and went to Samsung Galaxy watch and it barely holds a charge for a day

Well, I'm using my Fitbit charge 2 since 2017 and still perfectly functioning till now (using it every day). Sorry for those who had bad experience with Fitbit 🙁

They just added Alexa. What are the real differences? No GPS? No ECG? No improvements for the heart rate monitor? Same menu? Same sports? And same design. That's a shame.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 4 and Amazfit is definitely better than this! And good thing, the Mi Fitness app gives very-detailed info such as sleep monitoring, Heart-rate monitoring and so many cool stuffs. Please do a comparison, and see for yourself!!! 👊

The design team needs to be fired for how the bands are replaced. Did they even try to change them themselves? Absolutely absurd
To be fair they design it with extreme environment in mind (surfing/ parachuting etc) and most people really only change their band once in a long while anyway. I live in Hawaii and I’ve found so many Apple Watch in the beach lmao
