- Now it's all about the qualification for the olympic games in Paris 2024. Things didn't go so well for Alex at the beginning. Two weeks before the first qualifying round, he ruptured a pulley in his finger. Nevertheless, he went to the start and was able to achieve a good result finishing in 12th place. With this video we want to show you a little insight into the time of preparation before the last qualifying competition in Budapest.

Just watched the semifinals stream from Budapest. Huge congrats to Alex and Yannick for making it to the Olympics!
Really great insight from you both, nice video, thanks for sharing. Have a great comp!
Thank you so much 💪🔥
When your finger is fully healed I want to see a circuit starting with the first move of Burden ;)
I want to see a circuit of the entire Burden boulder lol
lol the holds are on the spray wall…
Haha 😂 that would be a banger circuit 😅
Best climbing channel, all laughs and climbing, no youtubing
Have a good competition! Fingers are crossed
Thanks🙏
Good luck in Budapest King Carrot!
I’ll be there cheering you on.
I love the tone shift from some of the more light-hearted content (love the goofy videos too of course). I can really feel the intensity building as the Olympics approaches, good luck!
Thanks for the behind the scenes talks on training and approaches! Very informative. Good luck in the comps and hope to see you in Paris!
Many thanks!
noooo, sorry to hear about the pulley! I just had a rupture myself. the worst. Good luck and I hope we get to see you in Paris!
Thanks a lot!
Stoked to see you next week in Budapest. You'll crush!
Sorry to hear about the pulley rupture, and hoping that recovery & strength comes quickly! All the best with Budapest & Paris!
And thanks for sharing a little insight about the reality of training at an elite level.
Very nice insight on the evolution of training for comp as a consequence of shifting comp styles ! Good luck for the next one!
It's cool to see a bit of you guys' relationship through both the lense of training together and friendship, the latter being potentially underappreciated by a lot of climbers
Yes Alex and Chris. I agree with all the others. Great video that gives us ordinary punters an insight into your thoughts and training. Good luck in the comps and looking forward to watching you in Paris.
Will try to see you in Budapest, good luck with the recovery!!4!
GOOD LUCK IN THE OLYMPIC
Good stuff! looking forward to some more outdoor sport climbing after the Olympics!
Thanks guys for a very interesting video. I appreciate the honesty and the emotional insights you guys are giving us. I’m sure it’s not easy to open up an admit that modern climbing has changed and you two need to change your approach, too. I know the feeling when I’m at my local gym. Things have changed over the years…
Anyway, the wooden pinch at the end of your route and from there onwards to another yellow pinch is insane! I’m sure your forearms are probably pumped when you reach that wooden hold but still you have to hold it together at those two very pumpy holds… Sick! Very impressive!
rooting for ya man 💪
I need a training partner like Chris! Super motivating video. Cmon Alex, you got this!!
Viel Glück Alex! Excited to see you in Budapest and hopefully in Paris too💪🏼
Danke dir 🙏
Good Luck Alex. Have been following your journey for about 13 years.
both really strong!!!
Wish you luck for the comp ! Good vid as always !
Thanks a lot!
How cute Chris contemplates about their training compatibility 16:45. 🥺
Wish you the best recovery and a great time in Budapest! 🍀
Sorato climbs so smart..."ok, lets do some campusing". Same as me in the gym, ok i am in my aerobic mesocycle... Uuu there is noone in the kilterboard.
i will always suport you , alex megos/. you can do everything .
Vielen Dank 🙏
Great to hear your thoughts on power vs intelligence in lead climbing and loved your dialogue at 16:45
It would be great to see a video describing your lead training! I feel like this is not shown enough on TH-cam.
Good luck in Budapest!
Great vid Alex, schön schön
Hope u won a medal! 🎉
Vamoooos Alex, tu puedes!
Good luck, Alex, you deserve to be at the Olympics.
awesome video. Love the chemistry :D
True Bromance. Good luck, ich drücke die Daumen!
Danke dir 🙏
They are adorable
great
Hallo, lieber Alex!
Vielen Dank🙏
Viel Glück in Budapest, Paris wartet auf dich!!
Pay more attention to the climbing flow than the bicep size. I like it ❤

Молодец 😮
Holla, Magnus sent me 😁
🎉🎉🎉
Hi, super interesting video! I would be interested in video regarding your stance to injury, recovery and training through injury.
That might be something for the future. Thanks for the feedback 🙏🏼
Would be nice to hear about your process to recover and continue training with a pulley rupture. I get strains frequently. Recovering from 2 currently and I am just now starting to climb 12 wks into the process. It blows my mind you can climb hard this quick after a rupture.
Of course every injury is slightly different and there are different paths to recovery depending on a partial rupture, a full rupture and an inflammation.
Once the comp stress has eased off a little we were planning on doing a video with Volker Schöffl, our team doctor and finger specialist to give a little insight into prevention, treatment and recovery.
What’s the name of the song used in vid? It’s a total banger
Alles Gute aus Österreich Alex!
Danke dir !
What happened to your finger? (what injury did you get?)
what gym is this spray wall at
When you qualify to the final in Budapest Alex, you should get ticket to Paris. I keep fingers crossed
The campus on slopey holds looks like good comp training, but if you through in 1 foot move for coordination it could be better comp training (?) Anyway too late for budapest now. Will be cheering for you as always! Good luck!!!!
You made it in! Congratulations 🎊 🎉❤
Nice video !!! Merci beaucoup !! the audio quality was strange for me. Have a nice comp :::)
Thanks man!
Rice pudding is a great tip for those emptier calories. 🙏
Hope you'll make it to Paris 🥕🥕
Honest question: is it possible to compensate bad half crimping and bad full crimping with really good dragged crimping? ( asking for a friend ) lol
Ooohhh, are Alex' socks a sign, that the time of carrots is over?
No more carrots 4 power?
--> Radish 4 strength?😅
Viel Glück bei der Olympia-Quali!!!💪💪💪
los geht's Alex!
So Megos is his own coach/trainer, films his own TH-cam videos AND is (somehow) an olympic level athelete? It is crazy impressive, but also a bit surprising/sad that he doesn't have more support.
Doesn't he still have Dicki Korb as a coach?
Yes I do have support from a lot of people thankfully. Dicki and Patrick helped me out with my training for over a decade and I still get feedback from various people, which I'm very thankful for
was the pulley stretched out or fully ruptured??
Ruptured!
Nice to hear your injury is healing! Good luck on the comp! Is there any outdoor climbing part of the training as well?
Thanks a lot! Yes I usually also incorporate some outdoor climbing into my training. One for motivation and two for the subtle things rock climbing can teach you
@@alexandermegosAM Awesome, maybe see you around in the Franken!
Ronnie coleman reference!
Pulley sprain so in recovery mode, naturally that means some hard campus bouldering
It's pretty much only slopers and big pinches
Pulley rupture actually 😅. I think this time I was blessed with a father quick recovery. Not 100% yet, but I can do most things 🙏🏼
I don't understand, why lead and boulder is one discipline and not seperated. Speed, boulder, lead, and combination.
4 medals.
It's like you have in riding only one medal in jumping and dressage.
Alex where do you buy your climbing clothes
You can't win in the boulder round but you sure can lose. Good luck in Budapest.
Thanks!🙏
maybe first comment?
Warum isn des auf englisch?
Kommen sich die herrschaften da internationaler vor ider wie?😂
Könnte möglicherweise daran liegen, dass die deutschsprachigen Zuschauer hier eine Minderheit sind auf meinem Kanal.
The English narration is much appreciated by those of us who unfortunately don't speak German. Thanks!
It would be great to see a video describing your lead training! I feel like this is not shown enough on TH-cam.
Good luck in Budapest!
