These videos are great for new appreciator! I was a couple of years too young for Woodstock, but I remember the incredible performances. (Alvin Lee yet another...)
Canned Heat was one of my favorite groups from that time. I loved Larry, the mole, Taylor's sound on those vintage Fenders with those heavy gauge flat wound strings. The band broke up a couple of weeks before Woodstock when Larry Taylor had a fight with Sunflower the lead guitarist. Sunflower left, and Feto the drummer was going to quite when the agent talked him out of it. Harvey Mandel replaced Sunflower and the band performed, and were paid $ 3500 dollars for their appearance. Blind Owl overdosed in 1970, and Bob, the bear Hiat in the early 80's. Geico insurance paid the surviving members eleven million dollars for the use of twenty seconds of the song Going Up The Country.
@@mlogue5 I first heard that info about Geico on an oldies rock station that had a lot of band trivia not long after the commercial came out. Not long after hearing the story on the oldies station I read the story in a magazine about the band. It is awesome that Canned Heat came to your high school, even with a replacement for the "Sunflower". All that ever came to my high school was garage bands. I remember at one dance in the gym a band was playing the "Pusher" by Steppenwolf. The powers that be stopped them and made the singer say "gosh darn" the Pusherman. A version of Canned Heat was still touring a few years ago with Pido the original drummer, Larry Taylor the original bassist and two substitute singers.
@@jamesferris4573 The best news is 2 months after I saw them they played in London (with Deep Purple opening for them) and it was recorded and released. You can still buy the CD so I can hear the show they put on when I was so young.
@@jamesferris4573 Hi James, I was brand new to this school, didn't know anybody at all. My junior year November 1969. I'm so lucky that in January 1970 they recorded that show as it was what I remembered. They weren't that big so playing in front of 250+ people at our gym was probably more than they were used to. If you want that Cd it's now called '70 Concert Recorded Live in Europe.

Thank you for posting this. Where in the world did Part 1 go? They had such a great jamming session on ths one. Bob Hite does a good harp here...of course nothing to Alan's but it's fun like he was. I love seeing how this genius song can be arranged in different ways. I'm sure Blind Owl did the arrangement on this...every part of it. What a genius he was.
My sister was 12 and went without asking permission, knowing the answer would be no. Big trouble when she got back home but she said it was worth it, of course.
I don't feel like they arranged it in this particular way beforehand, at least in terms of musical notation. They were probably just "alright, lets just jam for a minute on this", blues puts more of a focus on improvisation
Probably the fact the festival was so disorganized was a factor too, maybe one of the stage managers told them to just keep playing because the next band was late in arriving (it was the Grateful Dead)
Music at his best! Canned Heath! one of the best bands ever! combine blues an rock! fuck! the Blind Owl Wilson! WOW! a true musical legend! saludos hermano!
Landet ein Ufo, Allien steigt aus....fragt mich : Where are you ???? HERE, listen to the Music!!!! Ich denke, d. Allien wird mitschwingen..........................................: PEACE !!!
I know nothing! But 2 of the guys including the main vocalist seem to have some Innuit or indigenous heritage, they might even be related. Is this correct/ will s/one enlighten me?
Mom & Margarette knocked on my door, fine it's not like that ! My Mom claims Margaret's deaf. She lost her cell phone & didn't I tell her where to find it...
Alan is so animated here. He's usually so laid back. At his best. Really shows the amazing talent Canned Heat had.
He was an adorable nerd.

This band was solid as hell, beautiful musicians
Ah God be with the days when music had soul. Respect.
Why isn’t there great music anymore. Alex and the Bear rocked. No gadgets no mimes. Just top musicians. RIP boys
What a pleasure listen to a great classic one of Canned Heat! Live at Woodstock!
I’m 61 and I’ve only just this past week found them and love them
No regrets hey !!! 👍😎👍🏴🇬🇧 Jul twenty ✨️ four
CCR & Canned Heat ruled the music world in 1969 & 1970.

In 1968 CCR was the #1 concert band in the world In attendance ... 69-70 was Grand Funk.
And Mole..Larry Taylor..

GO Al !!!
One of the greatest bands ever ensemble. Love this band. Absolutely timeless.
Now looking back and listening once again, Canned Heat is my favorite group from the the 60s/70s. Musicality and Artistry was off the charts!!
The driving beat of the drummer takes this to another level
wish someone would do a cd of their woodstock songs..just superb perfomances..these 5 players were totally in tune ,best combination

Didn't know that about the Gieco commercial. This version of the band came to my high school 3 months after this show at Woodstock.

There is a place in the space time continuum where it is forever 1969 🎸🎶
Awesome performance from legends, RIP A.A .AND BIG BEAR
Harvey Mandel.
The most underrated guitarist that was at Woodstock
Brilliant jam... love that stuff. Two great guitarists there.
I believe that was his first gig with the band...."the Snake "
@@putzengiler in front of 500,000 fans. No biggie. Lol

I meant Harvey Mandel as one of the best.
Awesome! Great times indeed
Fantastic Band! Don't forget to Boogie children! 🤠🇺🇸✌️🇨🇦🇬🇧🐎☕
Why the f is this not in the top position for the best performance at Woodstock???
Man, this brings back happy memories. Respect!
Deserves way more views than it has !
Alan A Magician...
Special music at wonderful times
Marvellous!!
No poseurs in this band. They all were living the Blues.
every band back then were playing the blues. like 98% of them.
On the road again..
Fucking fantastic.
Love the egalitarian structure of American folk music. Everyone gets a turn.

Blind Owl did a leap👍👍
Wish Jimi Hendrix had jammed with these guys that night... But then again the maniac music vibe tied in with the maniac music vibe ;)

This band may never have had musical notation !.. Canned Heat was basically non-stop Boogie band! Fun as can be!

American artist at it's finest ;)
Drummer is Mexican.
Bob Hite's beard is back in fashion.
He looks like all the guys in my town. Like he never died? WTFO?
Part 1 is now up, Enjoy.
The best

Canned heat
What key is the harmonica? I have always love the 2 canned heat songs I have heard. I didn't realize how amazing live they were.
Sounds like a C harp, but I might be wrong.
Both apocalyptic and beautiful feel at the same time. Only the helicopters are missing ...
If I was tripping, this is the best performance
Oh yeah
Questi erano veramente grandi!
now where did i put that time machine

Lets see Taylor Swift or Beyonce top that (light weights) 😎✌️
Or most rap bands.
@@gilbertosullivan01 rap bands are disgusting I can't work out why they are not arrested, but I suppose they would like that, wankers 😎✌️

Hollis Brown awesome comment!!! Bunch of light weights! Rip Bear , Owl
So good
Where did she find it, rite where I told Margarette where it was going to be...
Awesome! Didn't think they had 720p in 1969? :/
Its film so they can do a high res transfer.

bravissimo
Superbe! Dire qu'ils sont morts si jeunes!!!!
Alan is definitely not laid back in this one!! An LSD-fueled performance. It was Woodstock after all !!
Doubt he arranged the harmonica. Its usually always improvised on blues jams. BTW, do you know what key the harp is in?
