    If you put in a wedge at the bottom, you can prevent the saw from jamming up at the end of the cut! Still love my Silky saws😝

    I've used one and it's quite small and useful but I prefer a foldable saw to be honest. Trevlig kväll från Norrland!

      I don’t usually cut tons of wood but if I were to do that then this one might be useful, but normally I’m all about folding saws too! :) detsamma från Skåne! :)

    Nice review. How does it compare to a folding saw? When would you use either type and which do you prefer? I'm guessing the Laplander folding I currently use is also your favorite? Thx, all the best!

    • @TedWeirum
      @TedWeirum  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks! I think for thinner pieces the chainsaw is great, especially when you’re cutting a lot of them! The lapplander is my favorite yes! If I would go on a longer trip and would need that much wood I’d go with the fold saw!

    Never tried one before but looks amazing. I've only just learned that these saws exist. Also would it be good for felling tall trees or to cut tree stump roots? Also a shame how pricey it is. Anyways great informative video! Keep up the great work.

    • @TedWeirum
      @TedWeirum  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks brother, there’s other versions of it where you can cut branches that are higher up, I wouldn’t try felling a tree with it, risk is that the chain would get stuck

    • @zacharyqueder7781
      @zacharyqueder7781 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also any recommendations for gear to fell medium to small sized trees? Winter's coming and it's time to get fire wood ready.

    • @TedWeirum
      @TedWeirum  ปีที่แล้ว

      @zacharyqueder7781 smaller trees you could do with this one, bigger ones maybe an axe would be good!

  • @stanko3591
    @stanko3591 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is basically a regular chain saw but converted with handels. Everyone can make one of these. Just buy a good quality chain and connect it at the ends. Great tip for the "wedge", very true. Thats how most time i have a problem with larger trees. Chain gets stuck... many thanks for video.

      @Occupuyourspine 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I just got a Woods brand pocket chainsaw it has a 22 inch chain with a blade & raker on each link which is IMHO: important
      Saw is 36” incl. straps which is too short so I used a loop of paracord to attach wood handles that are at 90 degrees to the blade so with 2 x ½ foot each extensions for a total new length 48 inches which is minimal for sawing comfort. This is the only portable saw I ever liked now I am secure about being able to process wood. Whoopee!

      I was wondering if you could cut a living tree and if it coud work better with two people (one each side) and cutting more in straight line. That would be great since sometimes we go somewhere without chainsaw and a tree is half fallen in a road. That would be a big job I get it, but faster than going back home and get the chainsaw.@@TedWeirum
