Can we use this instrument to check the moisture content of oil ?? If first we develop caliberation line by adding 0.001 %, 0.002%, 0.003% etc water in oil and note voltage against each addition
Good question. Dielectric Property of Transformer oil is dependent of multiple factors, such as moisture content, oil temperature, oil degradation, and other impurities. Hence only BDV test alone does not define moisture content in oil. BDV signifies overall dielectric strength of oil.
It depends upon the application of oil. For transformer oil 57kV BDV is ok. Also 'standard' for the same must be referred before the decision. Thank you for the comment.
Wonderfully presented in a clear cut manner , good job , hoping to have more videos from this source
Thank you very much for the comment.
i think 10mm air gap can withstand 30kV please correct 1:05
prise

@@ElectroGlobe1 Thank you for your informative answer ❣️❣️
On conducting bdvt test , the dielectric strength of oil was found to be 20kv at 2.5mm gap .
Can u say why..???
Oil should be tested for any impurities or adulterations.
I want to make this tester as my Final year project. Can you help me/guide me a little ?
Perfect for my exam
Thank you for the comment
What is the breakdown voltage of this oil ??
It is around 70kV to 75kV
Informative
Thank you
Clean
The applied test voltage will be AC or DC??
Thank you for the comment. It is AC.
Very Informative
Thank you for the comment.

Super

Does electric restored in oil?
No. The tested oil gets affected. It's dielectric properties get affected.
is this peak voltage or rms value
It is an RMS voltage
@@ElectroGlobe1 but how
Nice

57 kv for oil is it
ok

"Dielectric breakdown of air is 3 kV/mm"...next sentence: "That means with 1 mm gap air can withstand 30 kV voltage difference"
Wait, what? 🤔
Thank you for the comment. In next sentence it is 30kV/cm. Hope this answers the query.
