In a way... but to his core, Saul knows Walt and Jesse are actually a timebomb waiting to go off. All of his 'help' really seems to be Saul desperately trying to keep his own interests ahead of the game.

Personally, I believe ALL drug use should be legalized -- without exception! Drug production, sales and distribution should still be strictly regulated, but it's nobody's business what we put in our own bodies (and just to put a fine point on it, I've NEVER used drugs other than alcohol, and haven't even had a drink in probably thirty years).

His stupidity is the exact reason that Walt keeps him as his partner….. he could never have an assistant/partner who has the potential to be smarter than him (Gale)…. even his marriage to Skyler! He left Gretchen cause she came from an affluent family while Skyler was working at a Denny’s! Walt loves being in charge of those he views as an intellectual/social inferior cause of his nuclear ego/pride.

@1:10 Jesse realises that Saul is talking about doing something illegal and he's very put off by that, totally relatable

If you had a lawyer as good as Saul, he absolutely deserves the 17%.
Not to mention that the salon could appreciate in value and Jesse could have sold it for more than it was originally worth down the line
