    Like the new "extension!!!" I did something the same,a double car port that was falling down,i did the 2 courses of blocks and a wooden frame with feather edge on the outside and lined the inside with OSB boards,even put some windows in and power all done behind the OSB.Then reused old kitchen units out the bugalow and made some new ones!!! Ended up with a 20ft x15ft double garage with loads of storage and benches!!!!!

    Not sure where you guys are in the north-east, but I went to Newcastle Uni to study architecture and stayed up there for quite a few years. So I have a massive infinity for the north-east and love this footage, both the construction and relationship of father and son. Also, the beer drinking is to be admired. Keep it going fellas 👊🏼

    That extra space looks brilliant! (Where did you run the waste water to?) Your damp barrier flashing should really go behind the bottom pine weatherboard but you can alleviate the problem now by fitting an angled timber drip edge (about 3 inches above the path) along the bottom of the side of the garage wall. That should keep most of the water away from your bottom timbers….

    No one can accuse your Dad of NOT being a grafter!
    Good job well done tho with that rain I’d say you should have gotten 2 running outlets a 2nd down pipe and the storm gutters instead of the normal as that quite the area that is running off and the 1st shots you showed of the rain the guttering already couldn’t handle it
    Besides my professional opinion on that the garage is looking so much better and obviously more space and of course I’m sure you Dad’s neighbours think the same thing! 😄
    Look forward as usual to the next instalment

    • @upbuild4397
      @upbuild4397  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi. Cheers for the pointers on the gutters, it’s not often we get the rain quite as heavy as you saw in the video but I might do what you said with the extra outlet at some point, definitely makes sense.
      Cheers 👍
      Mark.

    Great progress. Probably worth digging a soakaway for the downpipe to drain too or land will become waterlogged were underground pipe terminates and in heavy downpours like you've had the water won't be able to soak in to the ground quick enough and will back up like you had 👍

    • @upbuild4397

    Down pipes size and quantity need up grade . I n that size carport roof with very shallow gutter [no holding capacity] fit 2x 90mm down pipes,one at each end . In tropical areas this is enough to cope wit most storms down pipe every 6mtrs or so .
