    Steven you are putting out some great videos. I look forward to seeing them. I have been working on putting together videos and sharing information too. Here in Texas we come across some different issues than up north. Thanks for sharing with us!

    Jack of all trades..... master of none. That's me! I live in a 40 year old trailer, have to fix it all myself. My heater is maybe 20 years old? But I have had to learn roofing, plumbing, electrical, and how to service these old Beckett oil burners. Motor went out about 5 years ago. Put in a new one myself. Thanks TH-cam! if I spent the money to hire someone tp fix everything in my trailer, it would cost me 10K (the trailer is not worth that much). Mine started tripping like this. Run about a day or two, then shut down. Mine also trips if you set it back below 70 degrees. Could be thermostat issue? Could be that vent issue? And mine is just the opposite of his. When mine trips it will start again if it is off for several hours and you reset it. Mine purges well, like this one, so I don't think it is an oil flow issue. That's what I hate about doing it yourself. You have to troubleshoot everything. Lucky it was in March, not December. But, not too many cold days left. Not really dealing with this today. Have a leaking faucet and large tree limb that took out my TV antenna. I feel like my own slum lord. I'm here trying to trouble shoot for next fall. So I watch a lot "how to" videos on TH-cam.

    Good heads up on the transformer the spark didnt look strong. Out on saftey would be my guess tube on ventilator. Me i start from simple then work back to boiler. Another good video by STEVE LAV THE MAIN MAN.

    Intertherm trailer furnace oil burner trips reset about 20 seconds after startup particularly after it was off for a while. Pump was changed out for a factory rebuilt one, pump motor has very few hours on it, nozzle is new. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks .

    The safety trip-out seems to be a bit like the check engine light on a car, where a whole bunch of different things can cause it to go off. We had a daily trip-out problem earlier in the year on our oil boiler, and the guy said it was the oil pump. I think he said you could tell because it was hotter to the touch than it should have been. We haven't had a trip since he changed it, so that seems to have done it.

    Intermittent issues are always a pain. You likely nailed it with that transformer Steve. It had weak spark for sure. Good troubleshooting and fix!

    My boiler trips on safety sometimes. No power venter tho. It did it 2 times last winter, fine all summer running for hot water tank, but last night went to go take a shower, no hot water. But always starts back up no problem after pushing the button once. Went though professionally last winter,coming due for yearly service gonna make sure they go through it thoroughly and find what it is.

    Hi mr stive I have ropd 130 with a Beckett burner I changed the whole burner sensors & all after I installed the new burner it started up it ran fine then I tuned to clean up & started again it went on then it tripped the the ignitor I didn't go on it was too hot I waited then started on it's own & it tripped I reset it tripped again & every time it goes for those 30 secs maybe I see flames like normal then it trips I have oil.
    My thinking Is could it be the heat exchanger. Chamber I took it out it's very old old & cracked

    Anybody noticed when Steve closed the transformer cover that bugle stopped.. it seemed like it was coming out of the burner top.

  • @nelsondonnell1393
    @nelsondonnell1393 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Steve, how come you didn't do a comparison spark-gap test after you put the new transformer on the burner so that the customer and us viewers could see the difference in the sparks performance?

    The customer complains that the motor does not turn the first time he hits the reset.I do not see how the transformer could cause that.More likely the power venter,a dead spot in the motor or the ignition control.

    Question for you Steve..... or anyone else. I have a really old Becker burner with a motor that has a reset button on it. Not the one on the controller its the one on the motor. I have had to press the button on the motor twice in about 6 months and it will fire right up. My question is .... is this a sign that the motor is about to go bad? Do you think I should replace it? Thanks for your help, long time sub

    • @gidzey4783
      @gidzey4783 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes absolutely. The motor is getting stuck on a bad winding. At some point you will not be able to trip it. Easy fix. Toughest part is aligning up the coupler when putting the new motor on. New motors are much smaller and efficient as well

    • @Dunes4321
      @Dunes4321 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gidzey thanks for reply, that’s what I needed to know. I will order one to have on hand when it decides to go? Thanks again and have a great Thanksgiving!

    • @gregorymalchuk272
      @gregorymalchuk272 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If it is old enough to have that big red reset button on the motor, it is probably old enough to have oil holes. I would at least oil the motor with zoom spout oil. Though it could certainly be a dead winding.

    • @Dunes4321
      @Dunes4321 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I really don't like seeing a furnace being ran on #2 oil..... Even though, there usually is a filter that the fuel runs through. It's just not my cup of tea.
