  • Dr. Matthew Phillips is a clinical and research neurologist and the director of neurology at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, New Zealand. His foremost passion is to explore the potential feasibility, safety, and efficacy of metabolic strategies, particularly fasting and ketogenic diets, in creating alternate metabolic states that may benefit people with a variety of neurological disorders. His team conducted the world’s first randomized trials involving a ketogenic diet in people with both Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, as well as the first published application of a fasting and ketogenic diet protocol in people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Huntington’s disease. He is currently conducting a clinical trial in glioblastoma, which combines standard treatments with the most intensive fasting and ketogenic diet protocol ever applied to a group of patients with advanced cancer.

I am a 55 year old Medically retired Marine. I suffer from Gulf War Syndrome. I was exposed to sarin nerve gas and mustard gas from Iraq. The toxins and damage to my neurological system has left me unemployable. Chronic conditions, cognitive dysfunction, and I could go on. At one point, I was on 22 medications from my VA doctors. Cliff notes: I have been on carnivore and intermittent fasting for six weeks. The results on my physical health has been astounding. My inflammation has drastically reduced, my mental clarity and short term memory has improved. My daily life has improved 180 degrees. I am in the beginning stages of this lifestyle change and will NEVER return to a Western diet. Thank you doctors for spearheading this movement.
Oh yea, I must mention the 35 pounds I have dropped so far.

I am a male 62 and it is my biggest regret too! Buuut... today's knowledge, and as a matter of fact, the term "carnivore diet" didn't exist a decade ago. All that was viciously and deceptively covered up and thrown away by big pharma, carb-promoting giant companies and their accomplices on the science field. Dr. Chaffee himself, and the others, came to all of that and started cracking the system at the same time, about 2016
      🤷‍♂️
Sounds cliche, but humanity is the victim of big pharma and the mentioned above

Genesis 4 : 4-5 . The Lord had respect to the fat of the firstlings of the flock ( meat). But did not have respect for the fruit of the ground ( Grain).
So the Bible is right again as always !
This is recorded on the third page of the Bible and was the cause of murder .Does that seem like a prophecy of modern lies and deceptions ..

Wonderful to see trials like this. I was vegetarian my whole life, 50 years with the last 5 vegan. I went carnivore 13 months ago, and my health has improved so much! I know I need more time to fully heal all the things in my body, mostly nutritional deficiencies. I do feel fat adapted and it took about 12 months. I so appreciate your guidance, Dr. Chaffee! You know so much about health and all you say makes so much sense. Thank you 😊

      Don't worry.
You cannot compel others to do what YOU advocate.
Do your own thing- let them see what you do- and see the changes.
Sooner or later- a bad diet will catch up with those who eat them.
Seeing you- they will slowly emulate what you do.
THAT was and is my experience with my family.
      After 4 yrs ...
My kids have quit junk food (except on occasions). They eat little rice/ bread
My wife has almost stopped cooking carbs-
And pretty much eats mostly meat now.

Good advice. I have a similar issue with husband and teens plus some young adult kids who moved out or away at college - I'm trying to be an example but keep failing because I don't know how to make enough food on a reasonable budget and they get frustrated there's not enough. I basically need to make enough for 5 grown men and 2 others who eat less.

What a forward thinking guy dr Mathew Phillips is we seem to have stalled in treatments for things and have been on the same track for a long time without much progress or breakthrough ,we as a species have to start listening to people with different points of view and not just dismissing them because we have already got guidelines and their ideas are outside the guidelines, How old are the guidelines and have they ever been reviewed or renewed ,we have to come into the future

I have a neurological condition which I now have more levers to manage with, thus enabling me to live a relatively ‘normal’ lifestyle around intermittent symptoms.
    I feel so very privileged to be able to access your invaluable insights and implement such relatively easy adjustments which have resulted in the following;
    migraine reduction,
significant drop in blood pressure ( nil medication),
    10 kg weight loss,
    improved digestion.

He's right because telomeres shorten with age at a certain rate. It extrapolates out (bell curve distribution) to 120 years before they're too short. +3 standard deviations is probably up to 150 on the high side. 120 being the middle of the bell.

Fatty beef and lamb, eggs or raw eggs yolks with occasional fatty pork. No coffee since July 2024! That I consider my biggest achievement lol 😂. I’m 73 years young!

I am carnivore almost 2 years and dry fast regularly. Great healer combo. I thought the Snake Diet guy was into sugar and carbs? And also super loud and annoying, which turned me off so I never investigated him. Basically, all the different healing modalities are silo’ed away from each other and it is up to each individual to experiment and discover what works for them. If there are serious “medical issues” work with a pro for a time to stabilize, then experiment for yourself. Cheers.

How have we deviated so far from our optimal health as a species? The Drs and information shared within Dr Chaffees channel should be headine news globally. Thank God there are some Drs that are holding up there Oath and looking out for the wellbeing of there patients. The corruption goes to the very top of the medical field and it seems like the medical schools have been bought out decades ago so all aspiring Student Drs are not learning the correct information.

I've stopped at 21:13 to comment. I find it hopeful that the younger medics are showing interest. The high status, older ones are going to retire, and die. Hopefully the junior docs will continue their interest. I changed gradually to a Keto diet between the ages of 55 -65, having researched what was causing so much inflammation in my body. Gradually cutting out the seed oils and seeds themselves, then bread and grains, I found my whole body felt better, no more pain in joints, gut health and digestion so much more comfortable. I was full keto by 65, counting macros etc. At 69 I went full carnivore, being fed up counting macros. I'm 71 now.
Over the Festive season 2024 I fell off the wagon slightly, having veg and potatoes with my Christmas meal. The real killer was two smal portions of rich fruit Christmas cake. (I live in Scotland). I saw my GP to get full blood tests, three weeks after Christmas. All markers except one were excellent. The exceptionally high one was Inflammation!
Also, at 60 I was diagnosed with high cholesterol. I was given statins, which I took, reluctantly, for 2 years. I asked for more blood tests, wad told 'now you're on statins we won't test again'. I immediately stopped the statins and concentrated on a wholefood, no processed food diet.
The recent tests showed a healthy cholesterol level, to the confounded reaction of friends who think I'm killing myself by eating butter.
Keep up the good work and ill keep on sharing your information. Thanks.

My sister died a terrible death at 55 from a glioblastoma brain tumor. She was addicted to sugar and slept with her blackberry cell charging on her nightstand. Which I believe was the cause of her tumor to begin with. The medical field kept her miserably alive for two years with a resection of the main large tumor, radiation, and chemo.
8 more tumors grew at the end of each tendril. She was constantly nauseated from the chemo.
I'm still mad at the medical community for NOT addressing her lifestyle at all to help her body heal. I felt like her treatment was curel to her and her family that watched her wither away in sheer misery.

1:01:30 THIS is the concept of diffusion of responsibility. It is said it is easier to deny a person in distress if you are one of ten bystanders vs. you as the only bystander. It's a sad reality (though not surprising, given human nature) that this is a prevalent bias in medicine today, where doctors are biased toward a failing standard of care in the treatment of chronic illness (protection in numbers) vs. trying something new to do what is right by the distressed patient. The idea of a protective standard of care seems like a handicap in itself -- an artificial shield from critical thinking! And unfortunate that providers either don't have the time, energy, or courage to seek and administer better medicine. This is directly relevant to the Hippocratic Oath: "First do no harm." So often, the standard of care is positively harmful, as we blindly chase after superficial symptoms (that are manifestations of the problem), rather than understanding the root of our health problems. Graceful and elegant solutions only come after actually understanding the nature of the problem.
This is why SO many people are circumventing the medical establishment and finding out for themselves what works.

It is amazing to see healing based on "evolutionary" approach that also denies the Creator. The rejection of sorcery (pharma) is just a first step, as these processes are promoted are profit based, but true health/healing are not, because money based "medicine" feeds off sickness. These functionally atheistic are embracing more truth than the sorcerers, but they do not consider the value of spiritual truth. But the true sons of God will pray that the veil of unbelief will be lifted from their souls.
