All the best James & thanks for sharing your fantastic journey, binge watched & enjoyed so much over crimbo on our NB Pica Pica on the L&L in Lancs, Cheers 👍⭐
Belated Christmas greetings James. Thank you for the tour, it is a few years since I last called in there. A rather stern lady was moored opposite and told me that she was watching me carefully as my boat had scratches down the side. My boat carried a few battle scars because it got used a lot! The Leicester section of the GU is my favourite canal which I first visited as a child in 1967 on the hireboat Bridget. Don't worry about those welds, it's a Springer and that is how they were made and is part of their unique charm, along with their moustache! Have a great break and I look forward to the next instalments.
Thank you for showing us around the Wharf, we should have been on Precious Jem from from NKW this week but was cancelled due to covid but will be there as soon as things ease, would be great to come and say hello if you're still there. It seems a really nice boat yard, they have always been very friendly and helpful when I've spoken on the phone. Hope you had a good Christmas.
Hi James.... greetings from Durban on the east coast of South Africa... I have been subscribed and following in the background from the beginning...you sir are a bloody machine... I have thoroughly enjoyed watching you working... just dying to see the finished boat as I think it will be awesome...I hope you had an awesome blessed day... take care and keep safe.... until the next one...
Wow - Durban, I’ve been there, although about 15yrs who now. What a lovely part of the world. Thanks for your kind words and I’m too hoping she’ll look great on the water. Hopefully not too long until we find out !!! Have a good one 👍🏼
Some of the seam welds are a bit rough like bad repairs/reinforcements and a bodge job where they extended the bow cabin but apparently the strafing strips along the whole length of the boat are a sign of a good quality build originally.
Just when I thought that your videos couldn’t’ make me miss home more, you go and show us a Yorkshire Pudding! Hope that you have a great Christmas, a well deserved rest and look forward to following your progress in the new year.
2:05 ..... “ 6 days to London”. Such a nostalgic statement, reminiscent of the way life used to be, when life was simpler and time was measured in days rather than seconds. Wishing you and all watching, a joyous Christmas season.🌟
I know. Measuring stuff in days and bridges and locks is great. 6 days is flooring it too! I’m tempted to take it a bit easier than that, and do it in 8 to 12 days. Happy holidays
I too am referbing a boat, only a 20ft sea going cruiser mind but never the less a project I hope to have finished by April/May, looking forwards to see your progress on the tinny ;)
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt Yes GRP with a Suzuki DT65 outboard, look into a needlegun for your external cleanup to take it down to metal, they are noisy but very effective James
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! Do blacken your NB but NOT with a tiny, foan roller. That is such a slow waste of time and useless because the coatings are invariably TOO thin. Blackening a boat is NOT like painting an interior house wall as most DIYers seem to do so wrongly. Rather, sop / mop the bitchumen on thick and heavy with a large wallpaper brush OR small floor mop. Two to three thick coats are best. Cheers anyway... enjoy your time with family and friends!
Happy chrimbo James. I had a lovely Xmas day but of course the highlight was getting home to catch up on the last two of your videos. Looking forward to the next steps she is starting to come together nicely now.
You turn "left??" Not east or south or whatever? Landlubber. (Get some gloves, James.) Merry Christmas--I'm enjoying your videos very much and so pleased you're making such great progress. Thanks for showing us around.
Happy Christmas James! I’ve followed your endeavour from the beginning and every day I look forward to the next video. You are doing a great job and keep the videos coming.
Hi James. As a fabricator/welder for over 30 years please take note, The welds you are suggesting to grind flush, I'd advise you do not do this unless you can guarantee they are welded on the other side, as this would seriously compromise the structure of your boat. The welds are poor quality anyway and it would only compound the issue. As I mentioned before, I have a business called Candle Bridge Fabrication based at Braunston, if you would like any advice, please feel free to contact us.
Hi Lee Thanks for your advise, greatly appreciated. I did worry that only be welded like that on one side could be an issue. Are you guys on the cut ? Or is it land based ? Thanks
Hi James Nice walk around the yard, would love to see inside the woodwork shop, may be able to do it in person one day. Is there a dry dock there too. Enjoy your time away, if you ever make it, Have a good Christmas and come back to us refreshed with more excellent videos. Stay safe (PJ)
Yum that looks delicious. Being from the states I never had Yorkshire pudding I tried making it once years ago it was awful I would love to try the real thing someday 😊
It looks a really solid boat. You have a great feature of the hull where it goes under the hull at an angle which is great for the center anodes not catching on lock gates. My hull is straight down and my center anodes catch the lock gates which can be scary at times. Merry crimbo mate.
Oh dear. Looks like you're going to be getting closely acquainted with a needle gun and a sandblaster / angle grinder. I'm about to tuck into a curry for two, fresh from the local takeaway. Happy Christmas, James.
Been following you since the beginning but hadn’t appreciated you were at North Kilworth Wharf. Have also been following EarleWrites who is renovating her boat Leviathan at the same place, albeit at a glacial pace compared to you.
What length is your boat, and engine type, You are making a great job Always ays look forward to watching you at work, I have been there and it’s a lot of work 🎄Have a happy new year 🎄👍
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt yeah. My 2020 has been worse than average and the average is already not good. (When I say that the ten days in hospital, two operations, and six months before I was fully back at work again were not even close to the worst parts of what is me-specific rather than just state of the world stuff...) Really hoping for a better ‘21. But either way I’ll be super jealous of you in your very own floating home on the cut! ;)
Hi James. Lovely walk round of your working environment 👍🏻 Black that boat before it’s launched into the water 🤣

Have a great couple of days off.. just a reminder that if you remove too much of your seams you reduce the welding strength..stay safe

My last boat was a 18ft sea going cruiser. They are great fun boats. Is you’re fibreglass GRP with an outboard? Good luck with the refurb
