James your application to doing things is absolutely brilliant 👍🏻 Well done and always have a brew if nothing else lol 😆 The tiles are really making your boat homely 😀
Absolutely stunning. A bit of a Moroccan look. With those colors it should be easy to decorate once you are finished with the build. I look forward to seeing you with you feet up near a nice warm fire with a good cup of tea. Now get some sleep.
Looks amazing! From looking at the tiles as they currently are you wouldn’t know it’s your first attempt at tiling Those tiles look really good quality, look very ‘Fired Earth’
I read a recipe, weigh it all up, it fails, use my old tablespoon and the shake of the flour bag, a slab of butter, the cake is perfect!! Love the tiles, a big step forward.
Made me chuckle when you measured it out then the next minute you threw it in the bucket 😂 you’ve only just loaded the video up and nearly 60% of your followers have watched it which shows the testimony to how glued we are to your build
Your improvisation for the mortar mix had us rolling about. You’re doing a great job though. Greetings from two Brits in California longing for a narrowboat.
Tiles look great. I think that the USP of this channel is the fact that the videos are posted in realtime and people can offer advice which you can take on board ( pun intended!). Are you having a break over Christmas?
Once you have the stove in place and going you should look for a product called Stove Glow by KG Smith's . We bank ours up , throttle it down to almost nothing , and the fire stays in for 12 hrs , with the stove top fan still going well.
Hi James all coming along really well. A little bit concerned that you are doing all this work and there isn’t a ceiling yet. Be a shame to ruin your work while struggling over it all.
Ceiling is a “not necessarily before move in day” task, though. And having seen James and his facility with the extendible supports I don’t think it’ll be an issue.
I’m just at the design stage of my fireplace. I’m looking at the BSS recommendations and wondering how hard and fast they are. The main one that’s causing me problems is it says width of the hearth from the front of the stove must be 225mm. Before you changed it to diagonal, I think you said you had 115mm on each side? I wondered what your decision making process was to come to that?
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt oh right, I’m looking to do two dormers next year and got a sample for long boards but that one you used would be ideal to cut to shape and have a complete no joint board they are weather proof as well as fire proof , 🍻
I’m not, I just seriously want an amazing Narrowboat !! Stern glad back on 21st, fitted a day or so after. So will be done this week hopefully - on the water for start of Jan x
What are you using to edit and upload in quick succession? I've been wanting to upload bits of my NB project but the idea of editing and uploading after 14 hours is a bit much.

It's looking lovely, James! Your attention to detail is really paying off.
Looking good! Love the way the boards have factory edges and James edges :-)
Well I’m impressed James. Bugger the instructions & mix it to the right consistency every day. The tiles look fab, nice one👊
The water content of your cement is gonna vary widely depending on how it’s been stored, so that also affects the amount of added water needed.
Very impressed James 👍
job well done mate

The effort you put into this job , will now reward your determination. A hard job well done James.👍

Is That how you spread your butter on your toast!!! lol. You are doing Graet IMHO, well done
Well done.
Hi James Yet again, Proper Job all round.
Your improvisation for the mortar mix had us rolling about. You’re doing a great job though. Greetings from two Brits in California longing for a narrowboat.
Glad I gave you a chuckle !!! Measurements and ratios....pah !!!
I reckon most Narrowboaters would long for the Californian sun - stay well guys
The tiling looks awesome , all coming along rather nicely too! 😎👍👌😉
Looks great sir, can't wait to see it lit for the first time.
Love those tiles James...Well done...
Looks like you have the fire safe stove surround down cold. And it looks really nice at this point great job.

Yes I’ll be down tools for a few days with the kids which will be great.
For your first time tiling, it looks fantastic.

Hint.
To clean up overspill of tile adhesive and grout, use methylated spirits with a washing up sponge scourer.
Love the video's and just to say you're no dummy keep up the hard work and have nice Christmas
That must be very satisfying
Nice brah.

A "boat load of dust". Its not a shed.

Were the metal spacers intended to raise the vertical tiles to the same level as the base tiles so that the pattern continued through the angles?
James, have you considered putting the stove on an angle facing into the boat?
University of TH-cam... When all else fails!!
Morning James, where did you get the Hardie board from . ? Looking good now really coming along well done, will it be in the water by Christmas 🎄
You can hardie board from a builders merchant like wickes, build base, Homebase etc
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt oh right cheers 🍻
John B it’s not always called hardie board. It’s also known as cement backing board.

Aunt you supposed to use a ridging trowel to put ridges into the plaster before fixing the tiles in place ?
You are seriously amazing James, top quality chap. Any news on the propeller ?

3rd tile up on the left, is upside down James ⤵️ 😂🤣😂🤣🤣😆😆😆
OCD much? :) The one in the same row, two to the right is oriented in the same way. It's art!

Use iMovie. It works so well and so easy and quick. This wouldnt work if I had to upload to PC and edit etc
Unit of measure: 1 Fuckit bucket
👍👌🇨🇦❤
James the metric weight system is based on water. 1 litre of water equals 1 kilogram.
I mean, almost. Close enough for mixing cement, anyway.
Go to bed!!!
He can’t. He has not built that yet!
