They leave it all on the stage every single time. Seeing them live is jaw dropping.
I want to say these cat's are the two of the best things happening in American music today. But it's not just the two of them. And we need to recognize the rest of the band. "Holy Shit"!!!! thanks guys and girls. I don't need to talk to anyone now. You all have fixed me.
I saw the musical "Swept Away" on Broadway Nov 2024. Absolutely fabulous.
The Avett Brothers are a national treasure
Why did I never heard this Avett Brothers song until now? It's so damn good
Years later and that scream still gives me goosebumps. Absolutely love this performance!
Avetts!!! Best thing to happen to music in a decade!!! I love these guys...Jimmy has *good* taste! ♪
If you get the chance to see them live... DO IT! They’re so good. They’re definitely one of my top concerts I went to.
SOOOO good!
Dance party 2024
The passion. Oh man I have and will be a fan forever.
I love Bob's bass in this! Rocking that electric!
I was flipping through the channels one night and caught them on Jimmy Fallon. Thought they were great ! a week or two later I'm flipping through the channels again and I find them on HBO special. so I watched it and I fell totally in love with this band and their members. The Avett Brothers are totally amazing and refreshing. I haven't heard good real music like this in a long long time.. And the lyrics blow me away just as much as the music. you got another number one fan Avett Brothers. Love love love you you're the best! this is Jody from New Jersey. Look me up if you're ever in town! LOL
Seth gets so INTO it, it's so fun to watch! Much love
I can't wait to seem them live with my son this summer! Love these guys so much. So incredible
Seen them a few times. Ohh my! That band brings it!!! Love their sound & lyrics!
This is great to have in the Avett channel. Now I just need Down with the Shine as performed on Fallon in September 2012, because that was the first performance I heard and my all time favorite since becoming a full-blown, wholehearted fan those 4 years ago! NBC's channel removed it and I want to be able to relive it for ever and ever.
This was the first time I had ever heard of them when they were on the tonight show! It's been just over a year since I became a fan and I've seen them once live 😭🙏
Love seeing them live!
Live is an experience you'll never forget-- ever!
Such an amazing performance of this song!
HOLY FREAKING AWESOME! Cant not wait to hear them play live again!
My love and I flew out to Red Rocks from Long Island NY on 7-11-14 (coincidentally, 7 years ago today) to see Bob Weir and Ratdog, and this band was on the bill. They supposedly debuted "Satan" that night. We left after Bob Weir, but on the way out of Red Rocks (that LONG UPHILL climb), they opened with this, and we stopped to listen. This song that night was really good.
They are so amazing! I love these guys!
This band is so good
oh wow, awesome, talented musicians!
These guys are hot! How have I gone all this time without hearing their tunes before??
Love the way the music just possesses Seth
so glad you guys posted this!! i've been trying to find it but it was deleted off of the Tonight Show's youtube channel :( such an amazing performance!! can't wait to see you guys in Greenville in October :')
Seth Avett sure gets into this song playing that guitar
This is pretty amazing. Amazing band members. Wonderful facility with the Irish thing. Reminds me of The Drovers. Really good!
Seth was killing this song. Elvis on speed. Love it
They were awesome at shoreline last weekend
In love this song so fricking much
Insomnia pays off!!
I thought the same
Band is tight and right in the pocket
please, please please, come to Spain!!!!
Heard these were good, so brought tickets for the London gig. Methinks that was a wise move 😏
I'm going to that as well, I can't wait!!!
Oh you have no idea!!! These guys will blow you away, trust me!!! I've been to every concert within driving distance...lol!
I just caught my third show.....get close !!! They are the real deal. Have fun.
Terry Holt Yes! Good advice! We didn't have much choice at the concerts we attended because it was SRO & so we got there early & headed right to stage front. There's nothing fake about the Avetts! It's pretty much all acoustic & you can't help having fun because *they're* having so much fun!
They're fab! I've seen them in London, Boston, and South Carolina - Going to the London show in a couple of weeks as well and am as pumped as ever! They're really, really fantastic live. :D
Awesome
you guys killed it
That bass slapping part is so fun I'm trying to work it out
Jimmy Fallon lowkey trying to act like he discovered them 😂
Pretty heavy
That's a lot of energy, ya!
🔥
Thumbs up if you’re here cause swept away on Broadway blew you away
Still prefer the straight up bluegrass version of the song but this is a pretty sweet rendition too. Seth was going... Fast.
So glad Tanya's w/ them! She's so cute! Scott and Seth were AWESOME but still feel le Ain't No Man would have been a better choice for this live show. Or the title track True Sadness.
Jimmy paying more attention to Tanya than Bob though XD HE CAME FIRST
I agree or even Victims of Life

Does anyone know why their performance of No Hard Feelings on Fallon’s Tonight Show was removed from the Internet? Is this some sort of conspiracy?!
I was like "WHERE'S BOB" oh ok there he is phew
Baby's in the cradle, mama's in the bed
Sparrow's on the windowsill and the devil's in my head
Devil's in my head, mama, the devil's in my head

And the black beat's in me
God is in the song and the devil's in my feet
My God, devil's in our feet, mama, the devil's in our feet
God is in the song and the devil's in our feet
Mama's cooking something up, serving to us all
Satan's ringing in now and I gotta take the call
Gotta take the call, boys, gotta take the call

how Kathy Bates would it be to say I'm their biggest fan
How come this got on the network and not "no hard feelings"?
A cursory viewer might think that this was a celebration of Satan. lol
No Heaven No Hell... all you are, or will ever be is in your head... All the stings can be found there......
Saw these dudes at Red Rocks. Wasn't a fan. However, they are really starting to grow on me. Good song here.
the bass sounds horrible, was it plugged right in the PA?
Every sound was purposeful and perfect. A Music Play/Posession occurred from second 1 of this video and to the very end of the video, intro and outro included. Cameramen included, production booth included.
upright bass and electric bass and 2 fiddles? interesting. guess they took satan's call after all…they do seem a might possessed.
Interestingly, they are the most good-natured guys you'd ever meet. They are christian Carolina boys.
Good perceptive instinct you have there, of course mixed with the absolute 'perfection in artistic presentation' that is what The Avett's produced in that installation. But, you almost subliminally understood the full scope of this Music Play I just watched. Just to outline the details for you: 1.A band of well repute named The Avert Brothers were booked to perform a song for The Tonight Show and we pick up the story where this video begins from second 1. 2.They all ready their instruments and inhale to produce a song when seamlessly their taken over and a new sound comes from each of them individually against their will that SOUNDS vaguely like their hit song but is just off a bit and abrasive yet hauntingly hypnotic. Both catchy and dissonant, and the lyrics we're hearing is a narration painting the image of normal down home country homes and families (bc the brothers are trying to sing different notes while fighting to still get out the words of their latest simple southern beauty details that we all come to expect if them. But as the specific melody, that repeats and builds as a result of all of them onstage being possessed, becomes overwhelming and the center focus, 3.BAM! They snap out of it and a much more traditionally gospel sound is immediately heard and the random images being sang out is back to inside a working families home at supper time just about to eat. 4. "The Devil's in the howl/hollow/hall" starts being sang followed by the metaphorical phone call invading in a repetitive way representing the trance taking back over and to suggest a phone incessantly ringing into the band and song again. 5 All the while the fiddle has been at the beating heart of it all and the musician herself is pulled to the center of everything. The silky smooth style pouring from her is absolutely the purest form of seduction, Satan himself in liquid form drips out and is revealed in complete control. Of course the fiddle is the devil'sinstrument and he is it's God, and apparently ours for about 5 solid minutes, taken by force through the power of music.
Sorry about grammatical mistakes. Should still be understandable.
Omg boomer music
first view
Do people really still do that?
On par with Fallon's comedy
What's making that AWFUL noise during the first verse???? Sounds like too much effect on the bass? Yeesh
Paul is playing the keyboard with a midi synth on the side.
James Cox it's trying to do that to emulate the devil went down to Georgia style wildness, the devil is represented by that... I think these brothers might know God and are calling out the devil kinda to the front where he doesn't want to be... he has a need to hide the real devil is evil personified! And wants us to think he is not so bad... But he is pure evil and speaks lies! Hence the sound.... turn to God don't waste your life brothers and sisters
Not a fan of this at all. Love the avett bros
This is sooooo horrible, lol. I'm so sorry people. This is bad music. Reminds me of the 80's when they had 12 people on stage, and could still only produce this generic, bland, mediocre-at-best sound. Nirvana had 3 people and 1000 times the soul and heart. This is financially motivated music. That, or these brothers are narcissistic enough to believe that their regurgitation is actually art.
No soul?? Financially motivated? Wow. I don't think we watched the same video.
