Today I lost my twelve years old cat, named Zuca, can't stop listening to this song, it gives me comfort mixed with some sadness that the ending of a life brings.
This year the oldest unit sang this as their final song before they left for the last time as campers. Camp is home and listening to this song makes me cry knowing that next year that will be me crying my eyes out before leaving my home as a camper for the last time. It has been years since this song came out, but it still touches the heart today
stanleythemanley44 Agreed. RicK Rubin forever changed the way they intended to sing and play this song. They started playing this at live shows in 2007. And it was 100% consistent with the NPR version. Fast forward to ILY, and the successors, and we get a studio version that lacks any punch or passion.
Oh for sure. I'm not saying this is bad or anything! Just that this is barely scratching the surface of the marvelous looking glass which is the Avett Bros.
how many cuts are in this video??? Doesn't stay on a single shot for more than 1 second. This is a great performance, I wish I could watch it without getting motion sickness.
Me: I like the song, but this video is completely unwatchable; can you stop with the constant movement and cuts? Me: Video: Things change and get strange with this movement of time. It's happening right now to you. Me: Oh, so it was intentional. Okay. Annoyingly effective, but still can't watch.
Are you kidding me, these guys are gems on the American music scene. And I do not live there, I live in Asia. And here too, they are gems.

😔❤
Best band to come along in a long time.....
Agree 100%. That version blows the doors off.

There's still nothing that beats the NPR Tiny Desk version of this song.

Fuckin Rick Rubin.....
@Vernita Jakubczak fuck off with your fake ass comments
@Hugo Beckham yea sure you have, you can fuck off too
@@mattg9226 Indeed that Tiny Desk version is pure gold and raw.
The Avetts with another killer tune.. its the most predictable story told baby !
It's weird all this happened to me and I'm 72❤
Who knew an all-denim outfit could look so good?
their style...one businessman, one 70er guy, one western guy, the chinese and a drummer^^ cool music!
i like how seth is singing forever and ever amen at the begining
Captivating, love the harmony! 💋
This song tells you all you need to know.
Seeing them in concert tonight and I'm like a kid on Christmas Eve.
Was it a good show?
Never heard of The Avett Brothers but I'm liking this.
Emotionalism is awesome. I think they have some really great music in their future as well. Lucky us.
Good call
Every time I watch...every new song....every new video (to me), ...I get so stoked!
Much love in Edmonton amongst my friends
I absolutely luv them ;)
Emotionalism, Mignonette, Four Thieves Gone, The Gleam, The Second Gleam, all fantastic albums.
Commenting to bump.
so good with the drummer, perfect sound
they have really great music in all tenses...
past, present, and future.
I ♥ The Avett Brothers
Its happening right here.
No strap... Joe's a superhero! See them live - he'll blow you away (as they all will!)
I love how real Scott is on that last verse.
Oh for sure. I'm not saying this is bad or anything! Just that this is barely scratching the surface of the marvelous looking glass which is the Avett Bros.
Great song
Il faut que j'écoute cette chanson au moins une fois par jour..j'adore
Amazing!
I know that feel, bro.
I do!
Man, Charles Manson can sure play the the banjo and sing a tune.
Catching up will be a lot of fun though; I'm jealous a little!!
Killer fingerboard inlays, Scott.
Will do! :)
He (Joe Kwon) always does!
Love this song, but the best version by far is when they played it for NPR
(Canada)
Cool folk rock music
when they get to Slovenia?
My goodness these guys are hot!
Was gonna see them in Ann Arbor, but I don't have friends to go with. ;_;
I think it was hard for Scott not to get really crazy during this one. He normally puts way more passion into it. But still great :)

Did any one else catch the Randy Travis song at the beginning?
Love the Avett Bros. I have to ask...is he holding the full weight of the cello? Can't imagine that's good for his back :(
que canción es la que canta Seth en el comienzo del vídeo?
+Santiago Sarmiento Es una canción de Randy Travis que se llama, "Forever and Ever, Amen."
i'm pretty sure he has a guitar sortof strap that holds the weight, otherwise he would drop it everytime he moved his hand. but he rocks it still!
Joe Kwon is the man.
@stanleythemanley44 other than seeing it live for yourself.
I would take these guys on a shitty hand-cam over a full production set any day!
Want to here them do a version of 1945. There the best an could do great harmony on it. Boys check the song out.
chill out on the edits billboard
Take off the glasses, Scott - I can't see your gorgeous eyes : )
Then you have a lot of catching up to do.
Moonshine. Lol. Ruins the mind. Lol
Love their passion; especially Joe! These guys are so awesome! The editing, however, of this Billboard Mag series is horrible..
Oh goodness. Go listen to Emotionalism. They have some really great music in their past.
I'm pretty sure that's Duncan Trussell fronting this band.
They are very cool, but the amazing cello player (Joe Kwon) is actually Korean. jsyk
Not a fan of the directing of the video...wtg billboard, lol
New Year's a disappointment, no music, just prancing boys with flying hair
Ok version of the song.... What's with the SLOWness.....it's like maple syrup and the real Avetts are frenetic and powerful.
I think they overdid this one... It could be a lot better if they did it quiet and simple... Still great, of course.
the band members have their eyes closed, that is rather bizarre
These video edits. Horrible.
Me: I like the song, but this video is completely unwatchable; can you stop with the constant movement and cuts?
Me:
Video: Things change and get strange with this movement of time. It's happening right now to you.
Me: Oh, so it was intentional. Okay. Annoyingly effective, but still can't watch.
