with my Dell raid batteries, I open them up and desolder the batteries from the circuit board let them sit for a few days then reattach the batteries and but them back together, I don't know why this works I suspect that the circuit board decides the battery is bad after a certain number of charge cycles and disconnecting the battery clears the counter or the circuit board re-profiles the battery and thinks its new. also watch out for the replacement batteries on e-bay I found old batteries put in new packaging and new printed label on the battery it self.

I've tried the same thing with Fujitsu card the problem was that electronics didn't let me reset the timer on the battery replacement time because the capacity was different and basically didn't recognize battery properly. I gave up because I couldn't find the battery with the same exact specs with a decent price. I hope Lenovo doesn't have such a protection and will detect new battery properly. also, your raid controller is brand "new" and that might make a difference as well.
