This is the equivalent of classical music for younger generation, and I love how much attention and appreciation it gets
It's still classical music, just with a different introduction. I mean, Mozart and Liszt were the popular musicians of their era. I got into classical stuff due to watching Looney Tunes with my dad as a kid. I hope this sparks new generations of musicians.
@@MermaidmissDizzy I think the good thing with Genshin's music is that you also have instruments not typically considered as part of classical music such as an electric guitar.
@@MermaidmissDizzy genshin ost is NOT classical music. yes, it's inspired by classical music and they share some parallels, but they are not the same. orchestral/instrumental music does NOT equate to classical music. that's like saying all music with singing is pop music. film and video game ost go into their own categories, separate from classical music. of course, they're all good, but it's a bit ignorant to say they're the same.
@@jackofspades2957 It depends on what style the music is using. Clearly Genshin is running the gambit of Baroque, Classical and Romantic influences. As well as dozens of others from different cultures. The music from a place like Sumeru obviously has influences from Indian or Arabic music. But even then, it's mixed with everything from classical to jazz to electronia. The best way to categorize it (and most media OSTs) would be classical fusion.
@@maxis2k taking inspirations from other genres does not make it that specific genre. that's why we don't consider liyue music to be medieval chinese music. many pop songs draw inspirations from other genres, but do we call it those genres? no, we call it pop music.
for more modern classical music, we'd call that neo-classical, but this isn't neo-classical either, nor is classical the core of genshin's ost. this is just video game ost.

The orchestra don't work for the team, they are just hired for this performance and some of the recording. The London Symphony Orchestra, and Tokyo Philharmonic did a lot of the recording. They do not work for Hoyo Mix.

agree, during the concert they all sang it, but during the demo, first i heard many voices, then only 1, then all again. It felt like the aranaras sang to her, then she sang back to them, then all of them join.

I attended the concert with my daughter in Singapore. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. The Mondstadt theme brought tears to my eyes..such fond memories of my journey in Teyvat. Thanks for sharing this Shanghai Performance with us all. Wish I could be there in person. Who knows? Maybe in 2024 I can. Travellers! May the Wind Guide and Protect you the rest of your journey! ♥

Nahida and Wanderer's theme gives me chills. There songs back to back shows how much Nahida overcame her sadness and Wanderer relished the sadness :,). I love how they didn't make this concert exclusive for concert goers but made sure that even people from different parts of the world can experience the concert themselves

The way Hoyo pays respect to cultures including all sounds/visual elements in their creations, making it sound and look so autentic, is beyon anything I've seen in my life. I know I have not seen much, probably, but I'm told this is what art should be, right? A tribute to something. Genshin is such a great piece of art, everybody.

It's funny because it happens a lot actually. I'm French and an amateur musician, and we often get loud applause, whistles etc 👀 as long as it's not during the piece, it's totally appropriate and that's great :D

The Sumeru part of the concert was literally perfect. I still get shivers with the Dance of Sabzeruz music.... truly one of the most beautiful moments in the game.
The erhu player looks to be having a reaaally good time, his expressions of enjoyment are adorable (special mention to Hu Tao's theme)

they probably had a separate audio recordings from the mic-ed instruments and they cut the cheering off during the performances

i shed literal tears dude 😭😭 the music sounds so beautiful. the overall composition of the entire orchestra was so mesmerizing. this is so emotional for me bcs ive been a fan of genshin since 2019 and to see a literal orchestral concert of my favorite game is making me cry. so sad that i can no longer play the game bcs its too big and my phone cant handle it anymore 😞 . hoping to save up some money for a good pc so i can play my favorite game again❤️.

It has been more than half a year since I last played Genshin. Before, I'd been playing for two years frequently, but in recent months I just got so much schoolwork, and I realized I could no longer go back to the genshin world, and it's time for me to stay focused in reality. However, today when I listened to these breath-taking performances I cried my eyes out. Genshin is not just a game, the music evokes all the good memories I had in the past year when I was still free from schoolwork. Thank you for accompanying me through the quarantine period, and thank you for creating such a great journey. Till the day that I graduate and have a steady job, I will come back and finish the journey.

@@sumyguck8094Keep your aspirations alive and cultivate your dedication to the instrument you love and you may surprise yourself. Maybe it won't be exactly playing here but you could very well still end up performing genshin music(or any music you love playing. You could even maybe try your hand at composing music that is influenced by the sounds you enjoy) somewhere else in the world for others to listen to and enjoy.

I'm a grown man who tears up every time i hear the main Liyue theme. I don't know what it is about it, but it just moves me in a way no other music can. My daughter recently fell in love with Genshin Impact and I'm so excited to share this journey with her.

@@Imme20000 when it comes to traditional/classical music, im preety sure canada practices the same west european styles too, you know viollins, pianos, harps etc. since canada was a english/ french colony and the majority of people in canada are probably french and english as well

As an Indian, i really appreciate that they got real musicians for playing traditional instruments for sumeru, instead of just playing it on their speakers. It shows their respect and dedication. Overall an amazing concert that i thoroughly enjoyed! 💞
Sumeru is not inspired by India it's inspired by Arab countries especially Egypt the pyramids looking domains in the desert prove it, plus a lot of character names in sumeru are Arab and a lot of words are Arabic

Only point iam going to add is your statement is like "I have only one hand, proof? I've got two legs" which dosen't make sense like how having two legs can equate to being proof of having one hand. I no longer play Genshin but the music still gets me every single time. And who knows Zhongli’s theme pairs so well with Hu Tao’s? Whoever planned the track order deserves a million thumbs up. Loved the whole performance. ❤

As an Indian, I'm genuinely surprised there are actually talented Chinese musicians who are proficient in the Tabla, Sitar and Bansuri. Glad our people can move past our governments political differences. Music really does have no nationality❤️

China is a multi culteral civilization, and incorporates different asian cultures aswell as western culture, so ofcourse they also have people that shows interest in Indian instruments. But I heard that the western genshin concerts, lacked traditional asian instruments playing musicians, as it is hard to find western musicians who mastered asian instruments, so the genshin concerts in the west lacked a bit of depth.

This made me cry so many times, the journey from the start to where we are now, time that has past so fast. The beauty and elegance, such a gem. 1:25:45 is my favorite of all time, and indeed it showed how much more glorious it is shown to be. I'm thankful for this performance, I believe it to be one of the best I've ever seen, even through just a screen, being there in live audience I would just be crying the whole way through and not be able to savor such a masterpiece.

Incredible skill. Art that touches the souls of millions of people. I watched the recording, but sat in tears, I was literally choking on emotions. It’s one thing to simply listen to music, but it’s completely different to watch the people who create it and enjoy their creation (the performer playing the erhu was especially memorable). Thank you so much for what you do.

Nvm, there is no end credits in the TH-cam version. But in the Bilibili version, his name is basically appearing in every pieces except some character demos and Fontaine music which is after his departure.

when i heard the yunjin opera for the first time in game istg i was i tears, i love beijing opera and it was so nice to see it in a game that i also loved.

If only HSR could at least make good enough story to retain their players but they're busy pushing out so many characters with barely any story or relevancy about them. HSR sure did what Genshin lacks but it didn't do the stuff that makes Genshin special

Wonderful performance! I wasn’t able to get tickets for any of these genshin concerts, but I’m so happy with how amazing these concerts are turning out. I have a friend who actually was able to attend one of these concerts and she told me how magical it was to be there and hear all these amazing songs performed by such talented people. Genshin’s music honestly is so beautiful and I’m so impressed by the dedication and detail they put into their music, in my opinion Genshin’s music just gets better by the update. Great job Genshin!
