It's like the original was all of the anger and frustration that comes with loss, and this version is all of the sadness and acceptance of the tragic loss. Simply beautiful.
I lost my fiancé a month ago. This was the first song I listened to after his passing. Music was so important and freeing to him. There was rarely a time when we weren’t listening to music or had it playing in the background. I couldn’t listen to anything for almost 2 1/2 weeks as everything reminded me of him in some way. I introduced him to Architects shortly after we started dating. I knew if I could get through this song, I’d be able to enjoy music again the way I did when he was alive. It’s a work in progress. I miss him everyday.❤️
Thank you for the kind words. I still think of him everyday and remain close with his family. Well, they are my family now. I still can’t listen to certain artists or songs, but I’ve made progress.❤️
I'm speechless... even after everything that's happened, they're still going strong. This piano reprise is just pure art and it's so beautiful it feels fragile.
This is how you see what they had to endure, their melodies can be played with anger to spit out the pain, or with sadness to let the bitterness out... I've got no words to describe their music 💙
I think I just got to the point that it is impossible for me to hate or dislike a song this band releases. I feel so attached to these 5 guys that I don't care what direction they will take in their next album because I know I am going to love it. This band was the first one that taught me that music is not only about that, music, but also about the people that is behind of it. Thank you for existing, Architects. 🖤
This made me cry. Hearing Sam's clear sounds is like touching a heaven. Literally he sings like angel and screams like demon. Thank you guys so so much, you rule!
I think there should be more songs covered with piano, like Gravity, Gone with the wind, A match made in heaven... Because this is pure art, this is awesome 😍
Ivana Janeva yeah i totally agree that this is on a whole different level but i just tried to put your desire to ease since i dont think they release many more piano covers in the near future :D
This is art. This is beautiful. I still prefer the original because it feels more powerful but there is no need to hide behind anything for this version. R.i.P. Tom. Your legacy will never be forgotten💔
I agree, I felt like they could have gone a bit harder on the vocals. I almost think it would've been a better that way since the soft instrumental slowly grows louder. Still a masterpiece though, I'm really glad they chose this song to turn acoustic.
My mother left us 2 months ago. This song has been on repeat ever since. This works both as a therapy and a reminder that she's still with me somewhere or the other. This song also highlights how vulnerable and helpless people are when someone close to them is leaving them in front of their eyes and they can do nothing to make them stay. Thank you, Architects, for this wonderful piece of music.
This came out 3 months after my mom passed. When she did I listen to the original version on repeat for a month straight. And this version is so beautiful and full of even more emotion that seriously captures the heart break they all went through and it's truly amazing what these guys do with there music 🖤
Sad to hear :( This song is heart breaking but for me its also heart warming, they touched many hearts. Remindes my of "tears in heaven" of eric clapton style.
I just realized this was uploaded today. It was perfect timing. I had a close friend try to end it all today, (thankfully we called 911 and he's ok), but in that moment of time this song was what stopped me from losing it. I just felt scared. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Architects, and may your music live on forever.
This is a perfect example of why music can be so powerful. The original version had me head banging and screaming at the top of my lungs. While this version made me sit back, relax and think about my life. Honestly never thought I'd hear Architects make a piano version of one of their songs but I'm so glad they decided to, they really are incredible musicians. On a side note, totally geeking out that the piano player and I have the same last name lol.
The original version of this is powerful and hits me hard every time I hear it, but this... this is the first song to make me shed a tear. Architects have the most beautiful balance of anger, pain and love in their music and I think this songs two versions justify that completely.
Had been missing this kind of stuff since Hollow Crown. God, how I used to listen to hollow crown on repeat - and I still do actually. The last part gets me everytime in that song.
i cried at 7:50am when the song came out and now i’m crying again at the video at 8:55am it’s too early i can’t handle this i love this band beyond words :,)
Wow. Everything about this is so amazing. The piano reprise is beautiful, Sam’s vocals sound so good, and the visuals are stunning. So happy they worked on this😍❤️
This released on the one year anniversary of my step fathers death at his own hand. This song helped me when it came out now it’s helping again. It’s wild because I was angry when he died and the original helped be get that aggression and pain out, now a year later this drops and it’s more slow melodic sound mirrors my acceptance in the last year. Truly amazing
I don't want this to be the last piece of music we ever get from Architects, but I feel like it might be and I don't know how to feel about that. This is beautiful regardless.
You can take that quote and also argue that it is correct. Often in times of agony or anger you get choked up and the only thing you can produce is a scream, like in the movies when someone tragically loses a loved one. Sometimes you can't sing. All you can muster up is a scream. It IS just noise, but it conveys a raw emotion that few melodies could ever match.
@@codyjewell1460 That's not what he's talking about. Screaming and metal screams are two completely different things. You'd think you know this being on an Architects video.
I was sitting with my wife having a beer & thought a solid piano rendition was coming... soon as he started singing I stopped it and grabbed my headphones.
This is a very welcome suprise! It's such a perfect return after so many months of quiet at their end. The original wrapped up the anger we all felt losing tom into a song and this, now that a little time has passed, encompasses the delicate sadness that is left after the anger and shock has faded...
After the passing of my friend in 2020, I was recommended to listen to both the original and this version. Both helped get my emotions out when I didn’t know how to express them. I love this band through and through.
I stopped listening so I'd stop crying but now I'm just sobbing uncontrollably. This has to be one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard; all versions!
tom would be so fucking proud of you guys, and everyone supporting before and after, architects will always have him watching, making the music mean more. much love guys.
I am so stoked for a new album guys. You are really helping many people through a lot with your songs and finally after the release of Doomsday you get the attention you deserve. You are the best! Please keep going strong - for us, yourselfes and Tom ❤
Some of the greatest songs I find these days are bands re-imagining their own songs and for the most part improving on the original in the process. Absolutely love it.
I know it's not from Architects themselves, but there is an incredibly beautiful cover of Gone With The Wind from Lea Moonchild th-cam.com/video/oT7p10uuOQo/w-d-xo.html
This song has just solidified my love for your music. Sobbing like a baby at work, I still can't believe how much emotion you guys make me feel with every song, especially this one. 🖤
It's 4 am here and I've been scared to listen to this since my heart lies with with band. So many songs that have just given me reason. Here I am crying 10 seconds in. Thank you guys for saving me time and time again.
Beautiful just fucking beautiful not only the song but even the video gives me goosebumps all over! Damn they made me cry early morning!! Rip Tom, you'll forever live in our hearts!!
"And when the Night gives way;it's like a brand new Doomsday" .sometimes sleep is the only escape from what haunts or afflicts us,and when we awake the nightmare or Doomsday continues.

I don't listen to music that often anymore. Architects and The Devil Wears Prada are the two bands I always come back to. Thank you for this softer rendition of Doomsday. All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us is my favourite album of all time. I can't describe how amazing that album is; truly a work of art. Looking forward to your next album. RIP Tom
It was a privilege to work with you on this track. My condolences once again, and a beautiful tribute.
Really nice arrangement
nice track, respect

Sergio Gómez well said 💚
Sergio Gómez I relate to everything you just said
thats exactly what i thought for months before getting the album cpver of LF/LT tattooed on my fprearm this week. For Tom, forever!
If they make the next album all piano I honestly wouldn't care I'd listen to it just as much as I have with the new BFMV or Parkway albums
what if they become christian k-pop band?
This made me cry. Hearing Sam's clear sounds is like touching a heaven. Literally he sings like angel and screams like demon. Thank you guys so so much, you rule!
Ola Ch He screams like an angel.
Jerad Scharrer yeah, that's an unique skill only Sam is able to do 😅
Ola Ch Yep 😂
he is like chester bennington 2.0 !
Sam's vocal range is very impressive, Royal Beggars made me an Architects Fan.

Ivana Janeva ... and Distant Blue.
you should check out the channel BEpiano he covers alot of their songs on Piano.
It's missing the vocals but its still pretty beautiful ^^

Remember when hell had frozen over?
The cold still burns underneath my skin
The water is rising all around me
And there is
nothing left I can give
All these tears I've shed
I saw the wildfire spread
You said you cheated death
But heaven was in my head
They say the good die young
No use in saying "what is done is done"
'Cause it's not enough
And when the night gives way
It's like a brand new doomsday
What will be will be
Every river flows into the sea
But it's never enough
And when the night gives way
It's like like a brand new doomsday
No matter what they say
It's like a brand new doomsday
No matter what they say
It's like a brand new doomsday
The embers still glow when I'm sober
The gold in the flame burns brighter now
I have to rebuild, now it's over
Maybe now I'm lost, I can live
Souls don't break, they bend
But I sometimes forget
I have to do this for you
And the only way out is through
Yeah
Death is an open door
Words the prophets said
Still swimming through my head
Now there's no stars left in the sky
'Cause this well will never run dry
What if I completely forget?
What if I never accept?
'Cause when you fade away
It's like a brand new doomsday
Yeah
They say the good die young
No use in saying "what is done is done"
'Cause it's not enough
And when the night gives way
It's like a brand new doomsday
What will be will be
Every river flows into the sea
But it's never enough
And when the night gives way
It's like a brand new doomsday
No matter what they say
It's like a brand new doomsday
