Floor Jansen now as singer-song writer to establish her solo career outside Nightwish. As in her composer days for her former bands After Forever, Revamp, Northward and her further participation in Pagan's Mind and other bands. Fire is a nice non-metal song and as always good vocally performed by Floor. To me however this performance fits within the safety range of her vocal capabilities. Not like for instance the Fire touch of The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. That's a little pity because she proved more than once surprising us stepping out of her comfort zone. Referring for instance to her growling activities on stage with Revamp, singing classical opera a few times, improving original pop songs up to more heavy metal creations, her participation in Beste Zangers 2019 singing in Spanish and German language, not her style, further her vocal contribution to War Child and last but not least her musical covers.
It is always good to hear one talented singer's comments on another talented singer's work. It adds credibility to the reaction. To be completely honest, I had to let this song simmer a bit. Of course I love Floor's voice, but it took some time before I really started to like the song. The build, the tempo changes and the piano are wonderful. The lyrics are nice too, describing the feeling of being able to 'let loose' again after a long period of isolation and restrictions. I'm curious to find out what else she has in store with the upcoming album.
You are right. I think the hardest part for me was getting used to the structure of the song, so different from Nightwish, with the theatrical repetition of each musical segment twice, as in classical music. On the other hand, in my opinion, this song represents Floor very well: straight, without detours, climbing steeply but elegantly from the abyss to the highest peaks. As Anna pointed out, this song is not pop in its entirety. I look forward to the album :)

Good you cleared up the genre question. I wasn't able to place it myself. The bending you bring notice to brings me back to Que SE Sienta from Beste Zangers. The ending, wow. This song is outside the realm of what I would normally choose to listen to, but Floor makes it come alive, she makes it so heartfelt and so relatable, that I found myself quite captivated. If the Netherlands or Sweden (where Floor lives) ever wanted to make a clean sweep of the Eurovision Song Contest, all they'd need is Floor. I'd say this fits into the classic pop / easy listening categories - or simply plays with the border between them. But it is hard to categorise one song that seems to contain elements of several genres.

Hahaha I'm glad I'm not alone with that thought! I originally only spoke Finnish but after I started gaining more international audience I started dropping a few English sentences here and there. I can't fully switch into making English videos because I have Finnish audience both too young and old to understand spoken or written English.

My first reaction after hearing the song was that Floor applied for the job of doing the next James Bond song too! One question: Why do you mix up English and Finnish? Is that deliberate? And if so, why?

I originally only spoke Finnish but after I started gaining more international audience I started dropping a few English sentences here and there. I can't fully switch into making English videos because I have Finnish audience both too young and old to understand spoken or written English.
