I've been battling depression for almost 30 years of my life. It's very seldom that a band can come around and make shit feel infinitely better. I love everything about these guys. The first time I heard them was like hearing The Clash for the first time when I was a small lad. Thank You, Idles.
This band has forced my brain to re-calibrate what it takes to make GOOD music. No auto-tune, no fancy fretwork. Just tribal emotion that harmonizes in a way that we can't explain. I don't know how you just "come up" w/ this sound, but I'm hooked.
@@rupman27isback you can't hear melody here? If you listened to the album the performance here is pretty spot on. I could understand calling him terrible if that was the case.
I worked as the house A2 at their recent show in Dallas. I had never heard of them before. They KICKED ASS. Truly a band to see live, the energy is off the effin charts man.
House of Blues, when they brought that kid from the North Shore up on stage? Top 3 shows of all time, instantly. My roommate caught the opener’s percussionist’s coffee can.
I saw them in '18 on the 'Joy' tour & I'd agree one of the best shows. So much energy & interaction w/the crowd. So fun to watch since they're all over the stage.
Also saw them at the Boston show. I barely knew who they were but my buddy was going so I said what the hell and came along. The moment they opened with Colossus, I was HOOKED
This band completely exemplifies why I love music and how important it is to me. Such honesty, emotion, and artistry. I love this band and its community.
Just recently got introduced to Idles by a friend. The only regret I have about it is I didn't find them sooner. Great band, amazing energy, fantastic lyrics
Buzzing album, picked it up hugely from last yrs album. Black Country, New Road, Squid equally fab this yr. British punk/whatever is superb and only gets better!!!!!!
they ARE the sweetest, I saw them almost 3 weeks ago in mexico and they were giving water to the people on the front row, joe praised a flyer some guy on the crowd designed for them, and I don't know 😭😭 they have such a warm and nice presence!
The energy Joe brings to these sets is just... absolutely unparalleled. IDLES is the best post-punk band of all time. Not even my opinion, that's just facts.
I just love every song that I hear from this band straight from beginning, I can’t say that for any other band. My dudes are original af , those guitars are crazy. Thank god bands like these exist
there is such a wonderful sense of love and mutual respect in everything IDLES and KEXP do together, it's damn near impossible to walk away from watching these sessions without feeling charged with positivity!
Cheryl is either very good at making pre-written questions flow very well, or she is very good at coming up with good questions (most likely both). She is an amazing interviewer and listener.
I understand why Joe is so adamant resisting the label "punk." These guys are entirely different. They are. Their music is f*cking beautiful. And I'm a long time punk fan, so I get it.
I feckin love this band. What joy to see how they play live. Have listening to them for some time and just bought "Joy as an act of resistance" on vinyl
I have heard this collection now 10 times …on here…back to back. At first I hated it. At first.
