When I see an adult driving an Accord, I’ve learned to see it as a sign of success. Most people I know who drive Accords are higher net-worth than the ones driving Porsches and Mercedes.
Absolutely correct. Most everyday millionaires drive sensible cars. Most showy, insecure people drive flashy cars. Very few car enthusiasts left out there that drive Porsches for the thrill of it.
That’s mostly because being wealthy doesn’t automatically make you a car enthusiast. All of us who spend our time watching car reviews, if we hit the lotto, I’m sure many of us would get ourselves at least a couple highly desirable sports cars. Someone who has a family business that took off in the early 2010s and just wants to live a comfortable suburban life for themselves and their legacy probably is much more keen to drive around top trim models of regular cars. If they’re extra stingey, they probably don’t replace it often.
@@Brianuwu622 Because it doesn't look like a blob with pointy things sticking out of it at every corner, it's not good looking?. I think it looks great. Has a very nice low slung profile, IT'S RELIABLE, gets great gas mileage. And so what it doesn't go from 0 to 60 in 2 seconds. I don't care, It's a great looking PRACTIAL car. So neener neener.
These regular/average car reviews are so much more exciting to click on because I can actual afford this car and want to buy this. Like I was genuinely more engaged watching this over some of your other cars. Thank you for doing these boring cars!
I'm a salesperson at honda and after so many happy customers, had to get my own accord, I love it! It's comfy and smooth over bumps and the gas mileage is amazing. Can't complain at all. I got my 2023 accord in radiant red with a black interior. It's a sweet ride
Yesterday I managed to average 52.9mpg on mine, its crazy. IMO this is a way better purchase than a prius because of the comfort & tons of space both inside & in the giant trunk.
@@rustler08 except good luck finding a new prius in stock & it not being marked up by 6-8K like the only LE that I found was. Also, last time I checked you don't use a cars exterior so the accord beats it in every other aspect, looks are relative & in a hybrid they're irrelevant.
Forget the trip computer. Do the math yourself after filling and emptying the tank. I drive a Sportage hybrid SX Prestige and over short distances, it reads 55mpg so I don't take that literally because the short distance traveled was mostly using the battery power. I do the math and truly get 40city and 38highway.
One thing I appreciate on this generation of Hondas is that they've kept controls simple. They haven't replaced physical buttons with captive touch systems or done things like made the climate control something that is run through a touch screen. The new Hondas can be learned in seconds by just about anyone which is not something you can say about many of today's overtly complex cars.
Honda learned their lesson a few years ago, they removed the physical volume knob and climate control knobs and integrated a touch screen volume and a frustrating climate in touch screen which made you have to wait until the the unit was booted before you could make changes. A lot of people complained and thankfully Honda switched back a few years later.
You say this but my elderly mother was completely overwhelmed by the controls in her first gen HR-V. For all of the effort Honda put into keep things simple and familiar, didn't matter, it didn't look like her Forester so that was scary and bad.
Doug, I can speak for some of us (your viewers) when I say that we appreciate your reviews and perspectives on "boring" cars. If you're not going to be the one to cover these types of cars in the future then ideally someone on your team does.
The accord is simply one of the most humble cars out there. Nobody raves about them by any means but it’s simply a great car for the value for the price of average new cars nowadays. I had a 2014 (9th gen) that was a 4 door stick shift and I miss that car dearly.
Yeah, I have a 2013 manual Accord. So engaging and fun, even if it's just a family sedan. Much better than it had to be. I kept it, even when I bought a 2020 Civic Si, and then traded the Civic in for a Genesis G70. The Accord is objectively worse than the Genesis in many ways, even most ways (after all it ain't a luxury car) but it is a lighter, more involving and more engaging car in most driving scenarios. Definitely more engaging because of that manual transmission.
I have a 2023 Accord Hybrid touring trim and I absolutely love it. I love the way this new generation looks from the outside, I much prefer the simple mature look. The ride in the Hybrid is so smooth and super quiet, plus I'm only going to the gas station once a month. Also fyi; you can customize the gauge cluster to either a round setup or a bar setup.
My first ever "adult car" I bought was an burgundy Accord with a manual transmission, right after college. I absolutely loved that thing, and it will always hold a special place. Incredible, reliable car
The Accord came out in 1976 and immediately became a hit because of the value proposition. All the things that were typically options on American cars.....power windows, tinted glass, tachometer, console, etc....were standard on the Accord hatchback. I ordered one at about $4300 as I recall, in the days when dealers did not add "market adjustments" on high-demand cars. After a couple of months, I got tired of waiting and bought a used 1973 Porsche 911T for $6800 instead. I eventually got my Honda's, first one being a 1981 Civic Wagon, then a 1986 Civic Si, then a 1988 Accord 4 door sedan. All great cars.
I dont think the Accord had power windows until the new for 1982 model. At that time, in Texas anyway, there was such demand that dealers were indeed asking over sticker for them In thinking I dont think you could get a sunroof until the new for 1986 LX-i model
I love the Accord. My family also switched to SUVs/CUVs sadly, but the Accord was the only sedan in consideration - every time. It's such a great bench mark. I see myself retiring with one when I don't need the extra room. Honda - don't give up on this great car!
Honda makes a good amount of sedans. The Civic, the Accord, the Acura Integra and TLX. So-called SUVs are getting lower and closer to cars every day. Look at the Hyundai Ioniq 5. That's not very high up off the ground and really isn't much taller than some cars. And the sedan shape is now called a "coupe SUV," but really, they're tall sedans. Calling a sedan something else and raising it is marketing. Sedans haven't lost their appeal, people just have become infatuated with sitting up higher. Though some of us don't like the high seating position. I don't care for it.
@@benjaminsmith2287I agree especially with Tesla's SUV looking car it doesn't even look like a SUV just looks like a car with more ground clearance. I personally got myself an SUV so my car bumper doesn't plow through snow. My Toyota Camry didn't really make through the snow and got cracked at the bottom because it was just too low. SUVs are good for the weather. Also I could put big boxes in my car before I couldn't I have more height and I was able to fit a full size door in my car without needing to pay for a U-Haul
@@rosesmith3971 If you need the SUV, buy the SUV. But people buying cars way larger than they need makes no sense to me. I thnk SUVs go "turtle" quicker in accidents than other vehicles, though. They're easier to put on their sides. I live in the North East USA and it really doesn't snow that much where I am. When it does, I try not to drive in it until much of it is plowed. I do fine in a FWD sedan.
@@benjaminsmith2287 That's definitely true I know so many people who drive big SUVs but never carry anyone else but themselves. I think it's a status symbol at this point. I was called into work for an emergency and had to drive in the snow and that's why My bumper cracked in the snow because they didn't plow the snow. No plow trucks came to plow the snow and I had to go to work because I am in the military and I was needed.
I've owned 86, 91, 96, 2002 Accords and loved them all. My 02 was written off after a crash at 220K from new with basically original parts. Been rocking a 2003 TL-S for the last 8 years without complaints either. Love Honda.
My first car was a manual 96 LX coupe and had it until 2019 with 280k and plenty of life left in it. I decided to trade it in and get a pickup truck then which was the worst car decision I've ever made. I just traded the truck in for a new Accord hybrid and I'm very glad to be back.
I just bought a '23 Hybrid Touring. I love it. Savagegeese called it an "AI-designed sedan" and yeah I can pretty much agree with it. That's the thing, I wanted my daily to be as practical, efficient, reliable as could be. While there's nothing crazy about it, it's so painfully competent I have a hard time complaining about the lack of flair, there is nothing that upsets me at any time about the vehicle, it just works, and it does it well. Sound system is nice, seats are comfy, mileage is great, hybrid powertrain has more than enough oomph in traffic, steering is relatively heavy and has feedback, infotainment is essentially flawless. Digital gauges are cool, configurable but not insane, I get maps in the gauges and a head up display that works well. Maybe my only complaint is that the wireless charger is a bit finicky as far as positioning goes, but it still works, just have to watch to make sure it doesn't move off the pad. Could use a larger barrier. Also, I've gotten several nods from Dads in their Accords, so that's a perk of dubious but amusing value
That's why the Accord and the Camry have never left the top-seller list. They just work and they keep working without any drama. Not everyone wants an exciting car and that's just fine. I like how the new Accord looks. It's low and long, although I do see a bit of VW Jetta in the styling.
Yeah we got ours in maybe May. It is so competent. Great to commute. Great to road trip. Doesn’t draw attention to me. Everything inside feels like it’s where it ought to be and feels mature. And the mileage has been crazy!
I have 2018 Accord touring the best Car I ever had. I also have 2023 Toyota Camry hybrid. Hondas interior is much much better. everything is so well thought
@@karzy111 that's american in you speaking. generally in other countries, if people can't afford to buy a car with their savings, they don't. Especially, luxury cars.
7:00 I think one of the quirks you could have mentioned is the size of the rear badge. Almost every manufacturer seems to be going bigger and bigger with their badges (or spelling out their name), but this accords badge is so small! I really like smaller rear design on this accord
Yeah, the badge seems like it's been constantly growing every generation ever since they redesigned their logo in 2000 (halfway through the 6th gen Accord's production run). The smaller badge sort of reminds me of the 3rd or 4th gen Accord designs.
I love my 23 Accord. It's my first car and I bought it with my own money. The sports mode is mostly just a transmission setting that keeps the rpms up. I think it's a bit fun to drive fast since I think the handling is better than you would expect.
I love my accord. Last year 8th gen, top trim, and it’s perfect. Good sound system, super comfortable with plenty of leather, tons of space, and with a little apple car play replacement and a backup camera it’s basically the perfect car for me. Not to mention the styling was great and has shared super well
The brake lights in the instrument cluster are so nice I wish every car had that. It may not be useful to many people, but I'm kinda self conscious about brake lights especially with ACC or regen lighting them up automatically. Being such a simple feature I can't imagine it would need any significant development either
I would think that Honda put that there to keep track of any bulbs that get burned out. However I had a 99 accord and it would tell me if a bulbl was burned out. However it wouldn't tell me which bulb it was.
@@Jettblack98 I had the same on my Alfa 156, it would light up a "bulb" icon in the dash and you had to walk round the car to figure out which one haha
I drove a Forester that has two info screens. The gauge screen shows the back of the car with all three lights. The center info screen shows a 3/4 view of the car and the one brake light that's visible there lights up too. The headlights also show up in the center screen. Impressive attention to detail. It would be fun if it showed all the lights including the turn signals and reverse lights like a school bus.
Yeah it’s a small subtle detail, but I love having it now. The mini car also shows when your headlights are on which has come in handy a few times when I realized my headlights were off.
I did not like this new design at first, but I gotta say it looks great. Definitely grew on me. It has to be the touring trim though with those wheels. Almost resembles an Audi A7. My buddy just picked one of these hybrid Tourings up in like a slate matte grey color. Its bad ass. Heated rear seats and everything. I might trade my E350 coupe for one lol
Honestly this one isn’t much of an eye catcher with it’s low profile design and lack of chrome but it looks modern and sleek which I think will age well in the next 10 years
@@SoulfulCowboy I thought the 10th gens were pretty nice-looking. By contrast I find this car quite ugly and depressed-looking. I think the worst part is the rear taillights, I just don't feel like they fit with the rest of the design.
To be honest I have been getting tired of all the over styled vehicles being released the last few years so I really appreciate Honda kinda going back to simpler, beautiful subdued designs with their newest vehicles. I think they all look great.
Timeless styling. The Hyundai/Kia’s, and for that matter, some of the latest Toyota’s will look like Olive green bathrooms in a few years when average folks can afford to buy them used.
After having driven for about a couple of weeks, I just love it. Not much enthusiastic, but excellent day-mover. Only turn-down is the horribly low passenger seat (had to buy a seat cushion for my spouse).
I believe the brake lights and turn signals light up in the dash when being used to show the driver if the light has gone out. It's hard to notice rear lights when they go out when driving as you're never back there to see them unless you turn on your hazards and walk around the car to see. In the past and even still, most automakers added a feature where the turn signal light blinks twice as fast to indicate that one of the turn signal lights has burned out. but with the display, you can know if it's the front or rear
I just bought one of these and they are nice. I’m kind of surprised Doug didn’t talk about the superior build quality of this car more. Nothing in this car rattles or shakes at all which is a testament to how seamlessly Honda puts its cars together. It’s really up there with the best of them. So glad Doug did this as I think these types of reviews are most relatable to the average viewer. I also own a 4 cyl. ‘17 accord with almost 200k miles on it already and no major repairs to it. These cars just don’t die. Thanks Doug!
Excellent point about the build quality and reliability. My father had a UK spec 2003 Accord (Acura TSX in USA) from new and ran it for 17 years. It wasn't just the fact it ran like a clock for the seventeen years with just regular routine maintenance but also it felt like a quality well built product with no sqeaks and rattles after nearly two decades on crappy Scottish roads. You simply wouldn't have got that from an equivalent MB C-class or Audi A4. They pretend to be high quality but the Japanese built Accord was/is the real deal. Fact.
@@slapshotjack9806if only your comment was true, but no, americans are stil buying suvs and trucks like if there was literally nothing else on the market
I got the 2.0t 6spd xgen accord and every enthusiast should grab that over this new gen. Very similar tech, better styling (subjective), and more engaging drive. This seems to hit the general audience and i love the fuel efficiency, but that old 2.0t powertrain is just too nice (and far more reliable than the 1.5t)
It's 100% more reliable than the 1.5t. Hate to say it but non car enthusiasts or just ppl who don't know anything In general about cars think this is a good car.. RIP 10th generation accord
2.0t manual is hard to find but is absolutely the one to get. Haven’t seen very many issues with the 2.0t but the 1.5t has been plagued with problems. I can’t count how many head gaskets, fuel injectors, and turbos I’ve seen get replaced
That thing is Huge!! As a driver of an almost 30yr old probe gt, I can attest to the amount of SUV's on the road....I often feel like a minnow in a sea of massive pickups and SUV's!
The Probe was one of the few American built cars to get offered in the U.K. and not look ridiculously large. As for its replacement the Cougar, never try following one in a BMW. Twenty years ago my BMW fanboi boss tried that and ended up coming into work through the fence !
Love to see a car that looks clean. Love the styling. I missed the mk6 Jetta styling and now we have a car that adequately replaces it. Nothing offensive or ugly, just a solid clean car. The Accord is the gold standard against which all other daily driver cars must be compared. If I didn't drive around in a 30 year old super luxury sedan, I would love to daily an Accord.
I hate seeing the accord slip away. I've owned multiple accords. Almost every generation. I love them. By far the bast car for the money. I have a 2020 accord sport 2.0 manual in my sights for the next build. Buy more accords people, keep them going!!
I've had my 2018 Accord Touring ever since it came out and it's still the best and most reliable car I've known! It's about the comfort and gas milage, we don't need sporty and that's what's great!
Glad they are still making the Accord. I felt the Accord was always the best in its class. Just felt more special while also being understated. I have a 2008 coupe with 220,000 miles. Only done basic maintenance and replaced Common wear items.
I test drove most if not all the available sedans in this market segment before deciding on this Accord Touring model. None of them came close to the refinement of both the interior and exterior and polished powertrain in this new 11th gen Accord. Accelerating is effortless, buttery smooth and ultra quiet. The infotainment screen is one of the best (if not the best) in a sub-40K dollar car. It leads nearly all the safety categories in IIHS testing among its peers. And, it achieves some of the highest efficiency ratings from any mid size vehicle being produced today. My wife drives ours and is getting 55-57 MPG over the last 10K miles, most of which are city. This new Accord is as close to an all electric vehicle without ever having to plug in. Again, I test drove every available brand in this price range and had a smile on my face only after getting into this Accord.
In person, it’s a great looking car. The interior is a masterpiece. The power is more than adequate. If Honda tames the road noise, the Accord will be a Legend.
to be honest, the civic grew a lot in terms of size over the years and people are happy with it. dont need no accord if anything you need can be found on a modern civic as well. and a bonus is that the civic has a cult following, its fun to drive, its youthfull and even cheaper
Actually the accord has a higher ride height believe it or not I sat in a civic before and I thought I was sitting in a mustang at first because it has lower more leaned back seats so I’m assuming that the civic is designed to be more sporty and appeals to people such as adolescents buying their first cars while the accord targets families that just want a no nonsense car to get them from point A to B reliably
@@fi7959no it doesn’t the new touring civics have more features than lower model accords and even the ex l accord. But the accord is definitely a quieter, more comfortable and roomy than any civic
The outgoing 2.0T Sport was surprisingly fun to drive, very planted and settled when chucking it around some twisty backcountry highway at a high rate of speed.
I wish they had a more fun version, along with the "boring" fuel efficient option. I understand that, at the end of the day, most sales will go to the latter, but at least it would have sealed the Accord's legacy, being remembered for something other than "average."
I'm keeping an eye out for a 2019 Accord Sport 2.0T manual, I think it's super underrated in fun and reliability (as a student of engineering, that engine is incredible). If Doug's still doing this in the way future, I think he'd agree 😂
Great video. I've had mine for about 5 months now. The gauge cluster is actually very customizable, and I really like the individual mode where you can program the way the car handles and drives to your liking. I know you didn't have a lot of time with the car, but having had the previous generation of the same trim and hybrid, this one is MUCH more refined.
He is in the US and all cars have more powerful engines there. Their petrol is cheap. In Europe, that type of car would have a 150hp engine in its top spec and the base models would probably be 100hp!
When I was growing up, Mustang GTs and Camaro Z28s barely made 200 hp, so even today when I see a car with 200 or more hp I'm like "wow, that's powerful!".
The Accord is hands down the best sedan you can get for the money. Miss my 2018; it wasn't flashy but it ran well and was extremely comfortable when I had to do 10 hour road trips. Amazing bang per buck when compared to other sedans in this price segment.
Growing up my mother had a '86 Accord for 10 years. My step father had a '94 Accord. Both were manual transmission. Solid reliable cars. I grew into a Honda driver as an adult. Although I also developed a passion for Ford 302's, when I heard my first fox body...
As the satisfied owner of a '21 Accord Touring 2.0T, I had very high hopes for the all new '23 model. Boy, was I ever disappointed. It's not that the new Accord is a terrible car, because it isn't. It just has a totally different mission now compared to my car and offers no passion in driving. My '21 2.0T is powerful and incredibly fun to drive. I really wish that Honda offered the 2.0T in the new car. Yes, the fuel economy is stellar but I would much rather have the performance and power of my '21. When it's time for me to replace my '21, I think I'm going to have to pass on the newer Accord. I've been a loyal customer of Honda/Acura since 1985.
My first car was an 08 Honda accord lx man was that car fun wasn’t a 6.0 but it sure was speedy I love the amount of room they have unfortunately I had to sell it but I’m working hard on getting a new Honda accord any recommendations been looking at a 2013 model but still not sure
Blame the Government, their EPA regulations are forcing the car manufactures to get rid of larger engines and manual transmissions, they are saving the world don't you know, lol.
My dad owned a 91 and 92 accord when I was younger. My older bro had a 02 accord out of hs. Great vehicles that will never let you down. This new model is a beautiful looking sedan.
The early 90s Accords engines will last longer than virtually every fashion trend. One guy got his to over a million miles and Honda gave him a new Accord.
I always loved how the modern accord looks. It’s simple, elegant, and just what you need. I have a focus currently, and yes I love it, but something bigger just like this is what I love!
I really don't understand SUV's or Crossovers. Sure, if you're 70+ years old, it's easier to get in and out. That's the only legit reason for me. If I want practicality out of a car, a station is so much better. I still drive a sedan and never missed any practicality. A good sedan looks só much better than those boxes on wheels
Honda lane watch not being proliferated or improved upon by Honda is a prime example in my mind of the Japanese companies getting lazy and complacent, allowing for the sudden come up of the Korean brands. 100% agree the Hyundai/Kia blind spot monitor should be as ubiquitous as back up cameras at this point.
As someone who owns a 2014 Accord (one of the last Hondas to include the feature) and drives a ‘23 Elantra regularly, I can totally agree with this point. Hyundai is seemingly making better cars simply because they’re including more features that the Japanese could easily integrate into their own sedans.
@@MikeAnvil More features doesn't mean better IMO. What makes the Hyundai's nice is their driving refinement/ride quality. But overall build quality still seems better in Honda and Toyota than Hyundai and Kia. But the gap is shrinking.
Test drive a 2018 Accord that had lane watch, the video feed would show in the centre infotainment screen. Thought it was a pretty neat feature but ultimately pointless. I could turn my head a little further and simply do a shoulder check.
In my opinion the car looks great, inside and outside. I like the redesign. It reminds me to the Peogeot 508, or the Opel (Vauxhall, or whatever you call it in the U.S^^) Insignia. Pretty clean and modern design. There is no unnecessary overstyling which I really enjoy. It makes this car appear much more serious.
I don't know, to me looks like an Audi A7 amd that front grill is somehow a Mustang look alike, but again, that's how I see it and again car looks awesome
It looks to me like a VW Jetta that's been stretched a bit, which isn't a bad thing. The overhangs are a bit long but I like the design. It's refined and not excessive.
The Accord was a hot car in the early 90s. Very nible and fast car. That's when they made it both two door and 4 door. I'm really not an SUV person at all. I came up with some of the best "cars" that were made. Back when you could feel the road through the steering.. And the engine power through your seat. Not moved by the "design ", but it's a sedan, someone will come up with custom versions of it with better performance.. They always did with Hondas.
(Jony Ive Voice) "We've reimagined what it means to be car by unimagining what car can be, then we pushed it to the bounds of car...and made it out of al-you-min-youm"
The Honda Accord and Toyota Camry are the only two midsize cards I’d consider owning and driving, I currently drive a 2015 Toyota Camry. And I love the new 2023 Honda Accord.
I find the design very attractive without it being weird or ridiculous. It's a really good looking car - and it's certainly more interesting than the 50th Porsche that looks the same and has a 6-figure price tag that hardly anyone can or wants to afford. At least this car many people can actually buy and use.
Manual knobs and dials for the win!! I wish every manufacturer would do it for the most important and basic functions. I don't want to have a crash while searching for a digital tap target with my eyes.
I’m a big Honda fan. Currently, I have a 2013 Accord EX-L and I’m in love even after 152K miles. Economical and reliable. However, I concur with you in your analysis, specifically with the lack of the lane watch camera. I think that Hyundai is doing a much better job with the Sonata. I’m looking at the Acura TLX to replace it.
People do complain about this car losing the 2.0T, but the take rate of the 2.0T on the previous gen was extremely low. It just wasn't worth certifying it. The hybrid had a higher take rate so that's what they focused on.
They also didn’t make many 2.0T’s. Honda doesn’t have an ordering system, they just allocate cars to dealers. If a dealer didn’t have a 2.0T in stock or on allocation, tough luck and go to another. Day to day I see about 30% of all 10th gen Accords on the roads being 2.0T’s (not including mine).
I had a 2.0t and it was a phenomenal engine. Honda got rid of it not because it’s too much to certify but because they want to differentiate between the TLX and the accord. Last generation’s accord had the same 2.0t as the TLX. They’ve reserved it only for the TLX from now one.
@@NVIDIAGeekify Big shocker that someone with the name of a company known for being difficult to work with and screwing over their customers at every turn gets confused when someone is explaining market realities. We're in a recession right now. Honda simply cut out the engine that had a low take rate since it wasn't worth keeping it. That's all there is to it.
Well he just described the Accord exactly as I've described it from day one. As long as you drive straight and level, its among the most reliable cars ever made.
I bought a '24 Accord Touring back in September and I just love it. A great feature is the Blind Spot Indicator (BSI). I wish that Doug would have mentioned it.
I think they knocked it out of the park with this generation. It epitomizes what the Accord is: efficient, comfortable, practical, understated, reliable. This is a class-defining car. It's so good that I think Honda is missing out on sales by not giving it a trim with some more muscle... Why not give it the engine from the Pilot or CTR and an AWD system? With the level of quality a configuration like that could easily compete in the $60-70K range I'd think.
I'm kinda on the fence about increased driver assist technology like blindspot cameras. It often means new drivers don't develop the basic skills required to safely control the vehicle they're operating. Too much dependency on available 'safety features' and driver assist tends to have people focusing on things inside the car instead of looking outside and actually driving. It also makes them terrible drivers when they're in a different vehicle without those same features, and aren't used to physically checking their blindspots or for pedestrians crossing.
I wouldn’t say it makes them bad drivers if they are in a vehicle that doesn’t have those features, matter as fact it would make them pay attention more probably. I had a 2021 Kia K5 until someone rear ended me and totaled it. The car had pretty much every safety feature available today. I think one of the most convenient safety feature that is out there is blindspot monitors, other stuff like lane assist is kind of annoying, yes useful but I don’t mind having it. Though, when I was borrowing my one of parents cars it did feel weird to drive cause lane assist wasn’t on the car,but I still didn’t have trouble driving it. But I did end up driving their 2014 Honda accord which actually had lane assist.
I took my motorcycle saftey course in something like 2016 when I turned 18 and they put us on caburated bikes that had no computers and thr beauty ofnit was if thr battery malfuctioned you could push start it
Driving a 10th gen Accord Sport with the 1.5L Turbo 4, and it makes me quite happy. Wish I had the 2.0L engine, but the 1.5L matches the power of my old Maxima, so it's fast enough for my purposes. It's a solid car that will last until your grandkids are getting their learner's permits if you take care of it. I'd agree with Doug that the new gen Accord doesn't look quite as striking visually, but it's still good looking. Kind of gives off the same vibe as the pair of jeans you wear the most. They may not look anything special, but they can look good with almost anything in your closet, and they get the job done every time.
i love this car. i just got it 2 weeks ago brand new, it was the last 2023 on the lot and i got it for slightly under MSRP. so far ive been getting 30 miles per gallon combined. great car.
I totally agree! As someone who owns a 9th gen and sat out on the 10th gen offerings, I was super excited to see what Honda was going to do for the 11th gen... Sadly, I was disappointed...

I just rented one of these for a week. A trim level down from this: the Sport. Rental cars are generally not exciting and while I agree, this one didn't wow me with power, it was easily the best car I've rented -- and I usually rent big luxury sedans because they're great for long highway drives. What truly surprised me was that his 2023 accord had a better ride than most luxury sedans I've driven while also taking a corner very well. I had this thing on dirt roads and it soaked up the bumps but on pavement it didn't have a ton of body roll. Gas mileage was excellent, 43MPG and I have a heavy right foot. This is truly a great car and the first car I'd actually consider over my 2005 Accord Coupe.
Yeah I think this guy missed that one or he is not aware of that one exists lol, his opinion about the accord would’ve changed if he drove the 10 gen 2.0t.
Great review of a practical, attainable car. I understand the American public has steered towards the tall boxy wagons (SUV's) but the base model Accord is really all you need for daily commuting. Not flashy but good cars.
I learned to drive on a v6 manual accord, that accord was pretty fun! still I love them since they're so utilitarian. if you want a car that will run cheaply for forever, get an accord.
@@davevolz6138 both of my parents have had this complaint. I still enjoy sedans and sports cars very much but mom and dad are both SUV-centric at this point
I think it also didn't help that Honda and Toyota were still struggling to pump out units of anything even through much of last year. Their overall production capacity was still really bad last year.
I love the new accord styling so much its super sleek, honestly the whole lineup 2023 honda has are all outstanding forsure CRVs even look pretty good now. Hyundai and Honda are 2 brands to me that came to the plate recently and hit home run after home run. Accord is gonna be a cool VIP build platform just like the last gen n im all for it, jus waiting to see one🔥💯
I'm honestly really happy to see cars like the Accord are still in production throughout a world overrun by SUVs and trucks. If you wanna know why America is so swamped with SUVs and massive pickup trucks, a TH-camr called NotJustBikes did a pretty good video on the subject. It turns out, car companies lobbied the US government to exempt trucks from fuel efficiency regulations, and thus, they started upselling SUVs and trucks to people who don't need them. Not to self-promote or anything, but I also covered that in a video on my own channel.
I love the 2020 Honda Accord Touring with room more than a suv 1. front/ rear legroom 2. Use regular unleaded 3. Speed 2.0t with 10 speed transmission 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds
You gotta review the 10th gen with the 2.0T engine (same one as the Type R but detuned and smaller turbo). I have a 2018 Accord Sport 2.0T in Still Night Pearl Blue WITH the 6-speed manual (very last generation of the manual transmission in the Accord) and it is much more exciting than the new 11th gen in terms of driving and fun factor.

@@SoulfulCowboy He might review it, particularly if one comes up on Cars & Bids. The 10th gen 2.0T with the 6-speed is a sleeper and the last manual Accord. That's pretty quirky. The 10th gen Sport has a lot of demand on the used market.
Hopefully one will come up on Cars & Bids in San Diego. The last manual Accord with a sporty chassis and 2.0T is pretty quirky. Everyone who has one seems to love it. It's a cool car.
I'm looking at getting an accord touring so I'm glad to see this. My reasoning for not getting a CR-V is that the tech and ventilated seats aren't an option in the CR-V touring but are in the accord or pilot touring.
Mark the best reason to avoid a CRV is the problem they still have- Honda refuses to fix the vibration/racing engine DANGEROUS problem it has. Look that up when you have hours and hours to read the astounding number of people asking, "Why does my CRV vibrate?" from YEARS back- its just puzzling. Now people are starting to sue Honda. My brother just bought one and noticed the vibration right away (while test driving). The salesman brushed it off as insignificant but a few months into the car and it has become a big problem. If you test drive one, look at the tachometer while its idling with no other electrics on- it will most likely be very low. Drive it and the vibration may stop. Come to a stop light- its back. If you happen to drive one that's really bad, the steering wheel will vibrate in your hands as well as both front seats. I read where Honda says this will not harm the engine or other parts of the car. Many mechanics disagree...and its a very expensive problem to fix. Look up the car lunging forward and smashing into (whatever is ahead). And sometimes its during parking. This has been going on for years and why the NTSB allows it is frustrating to say the least.

When I see an adult driving an Accord, I’ve learned to see it as a sign of success. Most people I know who drive Accords are higher net-worth than the ones driving Porsches and Mercedes.
I buck that trend.
is that THE chocolate rain???
I drive an accord cuz I cant afford the Porsche so its not that true anymore lol
Nice to see Honda is still making the Accord. It’s a highly competent, efficient, good looking, sedan. Thank you Honda!

Yesterday I managed to average 52.9mpg on mine, its crazy. IMO this is a way better purchase than a prius because of the comfort & tons of space both inside & in the giant trunk.
TBH either is a far better purchase than most of the vehicles Americans buy. It was great to hear Doug talking about MPG in a review.
Except now the Prius looks really cool and this looks horribly boring. My, how the world has changed.
@@Brayant25 math done average at 47mpg after fillup, that's still great.
Are you listening VAG. A friend's wife traded in her brand new Skoda for an older model after 3000 miles as she hated the controls so much.
@@MrDunclwell they did traded that tho.

I have a 2012 V6 Sedan and love it. Going to keep it for a long time.
@@PerfectlyUselessComment I'm keeping my V6 Passat as well.

The Honda Accord holds a special place in my heart, as it was the first car I’ve ever driven. Glad to see the newest iteration being reviewed here.
My first ever "adult car" I bought was an burgundy Accord with a manual transmission, right after college. I absolutely loved that thing, and it will always hold a special place. Incredible, reliable car
There was a downgrade in design I think around 2000 but they looked better afterwards and this one isn't the exception
The first car I drove was a Fiat Uno Mille 😭
Honda is special brand for me, first car i drove was a Honda
Slow ,under powered ,technologically backward, ugly looking ,plastic interior ,no V8 but more reliable. Good choice for women
At that time, in Texas anyway, there was such demand that dealers were indeed asking over sticker for them
In thinking I dont think you could get a sunroof until the new for 1986 LX-i model
@@MoveoverAndbark And facts matter...correct?
Just keep buying them and we won't
@@benjaminsmith2287I agree especially with Tesla's SUV looking car it doesn't even look like a SUV just looks like a car with more ground clearance.
I know that lots of people don't like the new Accord but I personally think it is absolutely beautiful and looks so good!
I got mine for the same reasons as yourself. Well said!
That's why the Accord and the Camry have never left the top-seller list. They just work and they keep working without any drama. Not everyone wants an exciting car and that's just fine. I like how the new Accord looks. It's low and long, although I do see a bit of VW Jetta in the styling.

I love my accord. Last year 8th gen, top trim, and it’s perfect.

The center info screen shows a 3/4 view of the car and the one brake light that's visible there lights up too. The headlights also show up in the center screen. Impressive attention to detail. It would be fun if it showed all the lights including the turn signals and reverse lights like a school bus.

My ten year old VW will tell me if a light is out. A big surprise was finding that the tail / brake lights are done with a single filament.

I wish they had a more fun version, along with the "boring" fuel efficient option. I understand that, at the end of the day, most sales will go to the latter, but at least it would have sealed the Accord's legacy, being remembered for something other than "average."
@@doncapo732 Honda used to be the fun brand now it’s absolutely boring except for the FL5.
I hope they bring it back, but I won't hold my breath.
The nav map import into the cluster is dope. Do you use it often?
The accord is very cool
2007 Accord Euro 2.4 now 330,000km. (TSX I think in your land)
Owned for 13 years. Still love it! The last of the best.
It's always funny to see that a 200hp engine feels underpowered to Doug 😀 Most cars I drive have about half that, and they're absolutely fine
Im a broke student that's gonna buy a golf mk2 with 53hp.
At least I won't be getting a speed ticket.
He is in the US and all cars have more powerful engines there. Their petrol is cheap. In Europe, that type of car would have a 150hp engine in its top spec and the base models would probably be 100hp!
@@xoloman846tell me you live in Europe without telling me you live in Europe...
a MK II Golf will command a pretty penny here in the U.S. nowadays.
@@PaddyOutbackI live in America and my car has around 100 HP
Yes man, dont even think to replace your 2.0t, it is the best
Blame the Government, their EPA regulations are forcing the car manufactures to get rid of larger engines and manual transmissions, they are saving the world don't you know, lol.
I’ve seen the new Honda accord all over the place, it’s beautiful! I must say Ford and Honda make the nicest looking cars these days imo.
This car is exactly what you expect an Accord to be, a simple car that'll just do the job. Idk why people expect a sports car out of it 😂
I mean most enthusiasts do modify Accords
My dad owned a 91 and 92 accord when I was younger. My older bro had a 02 accord out of hs. Great vehicles that will never let you down. This new model is a beautiful looking sedan.
The early 90s Accords engines will last longer than virtually every fashion trend. One guy got his to over a million miles and Honda gave him a new Accord.
1:14 That Accord has the same license plate as the current one on that Doug review :O
That's a damn good eye lol
Yeah it does wow i didn’t notice your good at small details 👏
yeah honda and acura uses that 3421 plate for all their press-related cars, whether it be in photos or the press fleets themeselves
@@doru10922 Yes. An Audi A7. Side profile is very similar.
We had Opel a looooooong time ago, but its been a long time- GM just started badging Opels as American brands before they gave up on Opel and Vauxhall
the front looks like the 2023 mustang
The Accord was a hot car in the early 90s. Very nible and fast car. That's when they made it both two door and 4 door. I'm really not an SUV person at all. I came up with some of the best "cars" that were made. Back when you could feel the road through the steering.. And the engine power through your seat. Not moved by the "design ", but it's a sedan, someone will come up with custom versions of it with better performance.. They always did with Hondas.
10th Gen 2.0T. Best body style ever on an Accord, 10 speed trans and the ability to smoke people at will.
This is truly one of the car designs of all time.
(Jony Ive Voice) "We've reimagined what it means to be car by unimagining what car can be, then we pushed it to the bounds of car...and made it out of al-you-min-youm"
It is just an absolutely car.
If I was going to look at a car, this is a car that I would look at.
This is just a shockingly, shockingly car.
No it isn’t.
As a new Hybrid accord owner I was looking forward to this day but never realistically expected Doug to review such a dad car
The Honda Accord and Toyota Camry are the only two midsize cards I’d consider owning and driving, I currently drive a 2015 Toyota Camry. And I love the new 2023 Honda Accord.
The Mazda 6 were better than both
And The Subaru Legacy trumps them ALL!
I find the design very attractive without it being weird or ridiculous. It's a really good looking car - and it's certainly more interesting than the 50th Porsche that looks the same and has a 6-figure price tag that hardly anyone can or wants to afford. At least this car many people can actually buy and use.
This looks extremely good and not basic looking 😮
Manual knobs and dials for the win!! I wish every manufacturer would do it for the most important and basic functions. I don't want to have a crash while searching for a digital tap target with my eyes.
Imagine this Accord, slightly higher off the ground, and a station wagon. How great that car would be.
Doug is the type of guy that has a carrera gt shaped cookie cutter
My 93 accord has 59k miles on it and has never let me down!
In Thailand, one of those sells for a little over $49,042. Crazy!
So nice seeing simpler designs. These are the cars that will age the best.
Oh no, Honda is still a lot better than Hyundai.
@@Teku175that probably depends on your eye. It was in reality about 10% of those produced
why you simping? They did a trash job removing 2.0T.
It had a lot of muscle with 2.0 T. people didn't buy it as much. What a brillant engine and a sleeper that car was
they could of did better as far as styling is concerned the rear screams elderly
Doug, we love you Doug
Just Doug… ❤

They may not look anything special, but they can look good with almost anything in your closet, and they get the job done every time.
i love this car. i just got it 2 weeks ago brand new, it was the last 2023 on the lot and i got it for slightly under MSRP. so far ive been getting 30 miles per gallon combined. great car.

I hear there is alot of cost cutting in the new crv
The gauge cluster can be configured to be more minimal, at least in the ex-l model
I love my 2012 Honda Accord LX. Has ZERO bells and whistles, but runs the same as the day I got it. Great car.

Just compare the first generation Accord sedans in the 1980s and the new 2023 Accord, and see how much it has grown in size
