@@najinelson6742 I think you’re talking about Tiap, that came out yesterday. This was a video last year on Parallel Aggressor. I agree though, so many videos! But I tried Tiap and I like it better than the J37 I’ve been using.
Hi Warren! Yes I use Parallel Drum Compression, and I'll sometimes parallel compress just Kick or just Snare groups, The Drums almost always get this treatment, and depending on the song, I might use Parallel Compression on Bass, Vocal and possibly anything. I love the sound from parallel compression on anything I treat it with. This Baby Audio would be great to obtain.
I've been having trouble getting a useful sound with parallel compression, this sounds like the kind of plugin I need. Definitely adds something pleasant to the sound, great to hear it on other instruments too.
Maybe mix in more of the dry signal to your PC? I'm no pro by any means, hell I'm barely amateur lol, but use it more like a seasoning. Create a separate track for the PC send what you want to it, and your bus track, and Sprinkle it in with the bus track, not 100% on top of the bus themselves. Also a great recorded part will probably need less PC mixed in. My noob 2¢ on parallel compressing so take it with a grain of salt 😁
@@Spoofaged That's good advice, and basically what I've been trying to do in a nutshell, but every time when I A/B it with and without even a little bit of parallel compression, it sounds better without. I should probably experiment with different compression/saturation plugins, haven't spent enough time with it, but so far I haven't been able to use it in a mix. There are a lot of good mixers out there, I try to take info from all of them I can lol. Try just sending only the room mics, or even some of the oh's and see if it adds anything you like as well as different compressors if you have options available to you. Again, I'm not a great source for info, but I'm not sure if I'd recommend this one just yet personally. But with Warren working on it with baby, it'll probably be a good asset in future updates.
@@Spoofaged I hear you, I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet, and really there are so many compressors and saturators and whatever else to try out there. Thanks for another great video Warren! Actually, I had purchased the plugin before I saw this and it confirms to me what I felt it was doing on your drums as it did on my master bus: it reduces punch and adds some 'click' on the drums. In your vid I felt a noticeable drop in the impact of the kick's low end when you went out of bypass. Deeper EQ options on both parallel channels could make it quite a bit more useful i.m.o. Will try it on piano next - bet that spank channel could put a nice sustain on keys! Always great work - really appreciate your depth of knowledge and experience!
hay Warren thanks a lot for the review; enjoyed it very much. liked the plug-in best on the organ. as for the drums , helped the snare come forward; but the Kick was a bit barried IMHO.
Wow never heard about Baby Audio but will check them out definitely after this great review - Parallel Aggressor sounds like Dimebag Darrell plays the same riff together with Lemmy !
Wow this is mind blowing! Really cool on the drum bus, amazing on the guitars in this video. This type of plugins can really help to simplify a mixing template and the best advantage I can see it’s level matching 2 parallel processes in 1 plugin I’d say it’s a great combo! Will check it out! The only thing I’m worried about the ease and simplicity of this plugin is that it will be too easy to end up with too much of a good thing! Thank you Warren for the heads up and the awesome content, now giving this plug a shot it’s a must!
My only problem with it is that is seems like the "level matching" needs to reduce more level. It makes it sound louder - or is that just perception? The guy from White Sea Studio recently showed how many plugins make it louder when it's supposed to "level match" because it makes it sound better (and you'll buy it), so it's a false claim. I'm gonna use a gain plugin to reduce some db off of what it does and give it a try.
Hey Warren, I would like to just point your progress video productionwise! I can smell the fullframe! Great job, and yea, I am feeling marveusly well :)
I've heard it referred to as a "sizzle track" or an "exciter track" but once I figured out how to do it right, I've become quite the fan. I usually bus the drums or the room mics by themselves, EQ out all but the mid- to high range and then compress it within an inch of it's life. Also had good success by using the Abbey Road Saturator plugin on this track. There just seems to be something lost in drums if you don't make sure to intentionally add back in those high pitches. They're too easily lost when looking for other flavours in the track.
I like the way it adds some "dirt" and presence to individual elements. In busses... not sure because I have another good options. I want to try it in a complete mix, just to see if it can add a little bit of life in a dull mix.
Warren, if you were going to build a small scale (24 simultaneous track) recording studio today, what equipment would you use? Specifically the interface and preamps. I currently use a Tascam Model 24 but it feels like a bit too much, I don't utilize the mixer or channels strips at all, I use it as a 16 channel USB interface and mix in the box.
Hey mate! Could you make a video about mixing contracts or contracts in generell? What should they look like, what's important, do's and dont's. ... Would help me out a LOT! Thank you!

It's funny, it definitely sounds sweeter at 50%. I thought this also. Sounds fantastic on drums with more space around them, especially electronic with subtle tight reverbs. Great review.
Another stellar demo, Warren!!! Well, isn't this a coincidence... the same time that Vance Powell releases a vid on his parallel vocal "crush plus buzz" trick, then this vid comes out with you using a new plug that does something similar but all in one. But now that I've watched through the whole vid, not sure if this plug is actually aggressive enough. EDIT: I tried the trial, and though it works well in some ways, I have to agree with Andrew Jones below: when you bring up the Spank or Heat, it seems to remove low end from the combined signal. This happens for me even when I've applied the high pass filters on both. This plug in has potential, but maybe needs some refinement.
Do you think this plugin goes far enough? Seems like it's holding back a bit I think, I'd really like to smash the transients beyond all recognition if I chose to, this plugin seems to take a more 'subtle' approach :)
@@thebr0wnhornet I've tried that one too... I agree, it's pretty easy to dial in tons of 'spank' transient with that one. But due to its simplicity there is limited control.
Hi Murica, I'm compiling my notes and everyone/s here. Baby Audio are a great company and they make great sounding inexpensive plug ins. However, I believe it does need to go further, more aggressive and with greater Transient response, plus a side chain function allowing the low end to breath would be HUGE!
i missed an equal loudness comparisson between the two mixes tbh. The excited one felt like 2-3 times louder so i cant really decide how i find it cause i found the original mix as if it was leaving the vocal breathe better. i dunno
This might come down to a matter of taste because some people like the sound of the louder dums. I can see a situation where a client wants that sound and this plugin could do that. Notice the drums get so loud it takes away from the guitars. As a listener you have to endure drums that are too loud in order to hear the guitars that are louder, which I don't like, but I could definitely see some people loving the louder drums. I'm gonna demo this thing and see what it can do for me because if it means one less extra parallel compression bus it will save me some CPU. What I'm gonna try is using a gain plugin after it and knock off a few db off what it does.
I had a play around with the demo for a little bit and I don’t think I’m a fan! I love smack but the detection circuit seems to be a bit mushy because it doesn’t quite grab onto all of the transients and give them a good smack. The distortion is lacking some ‘tastiness’. I love the concept of blending in flavour and punch to material but in my opinion it’s not quite there yet! Great company so I’m definitely going to keep my ear out for updates/new products
yeah and also parallel compression for those too poor to buy computers with a lot of CPU power. That's what I'm interested in trying it for. Seriously, if it means one less send to one less bus - they've got a deal!
Here's my experience after trying it out: I was curious to know if Parallel Aggressor on a drum track might help cut down how many sends and aux channels I need to use in order to parallel compress. Didn't work out for couple reasons. I have better options. Even though it uses more, CPU, I think it's worth making the sends happen because then you have more control over reverb. When I increased volume on the snare in order to hear it better I was hearing too much reverb because I have some reverb right on the snare and it comes out too much, then I have to reduce the volume again. However, If I do a send to a separate parallel compression bus, this isn't an issue because it doesn't have reverb on it and I can turn it up as much as I want without increasing any reverb amount.
Is there a video where you showcase your parallel drum bus that adds emphasis to the transients? That's a really interesting concept that I've never explored before!
Gotta say, this is the first plugin you've demoed that I'm not a fan of. The Drum Buss especially. It takes away from the low end of the drums too much, especially when you crank the settings.
Agreed, the low end is choked, I am going to work with them to improve that. It's a very inexpensive plugin and the idea is wonderful, it's just got to be better still!
At 12:10 or close to that time in your video, where you used 'Smacked Funk Guitar' preset and it was playing, was great background sound bed for a guitar or singer to work on layering over top. Also, I thought, if the Beatles were to use this, where would they use it to good effect, and I thought as a tail end to a song with Ringo belting out his beats. It has that rare and unique sound to it.
hmmm im not sure i like what this and many other plugs do they smear the transient a bit or just the verbs so it appears blurry or grainy, i wish my hearing wasnt so nit picky about that stuff but being a drummer, the click n pop is needed, hence why some use the samples for those artifacts to do it, or a good gate plug, , maybe missing the point but this dosent cut it for me, softube tape does the same for me
I love and watch all your videos! Even if TH-cam does throw up commercials every couple minutes. Have to say though, on this one, every time you hit the bypass button it sounded way better to me. Could be since I've grounded myself from plugins for the time being I'm emitting sour grapes bias?d Sounded great on the guitars and keys, tho. YUGEly better.
As someone that see's you as a respected "Producer engineer" Off the record , would you really recommend this plugin? In your expertise I don't believe you would. Because In my unprofessional ear "IT SOUNDS SHISSEL"
Hi David, thanks for your comment! I believe as reviewed, it's a $29 plug in, I loved it on the Organ and the guitars and particularly on the overheads. It wasn't aggressive enough for me on very dense source material such as the full drum mix.
Plus, on very thick low end it gets really soaked up, they could add a side chain function on it and let the low end breath. I'm going to give them my notes and every else's here.
The vocals get buried when used in the mix. The instrumental sounds better, but the Vocals dont come through half as well. Anyone else feel it kind of ruins the stereo field, as well?
I'm gonna be "that guy" and say that I really like the less processed, natural drums over the heavily processed "enhanced" drums. Of course I tend to prefer more "natural" recordings and am a huge Steve Albini fan, who is known for his minimal processing and very naturalistic drum sounds. Cool plugin though but it seems to do weird things to the phase of the drums.
Oh no... "spank"... I wonder who they had in mind for that particular moniker. Perhaps our favorite British-born mix engineer extraordinaire Fearless Leader? The whole video was worth it to hear the phrase "Let's solo the spank", amongst all the other details of the review. I might buy it just so I can "solo the spank". (I think would be an amazing band name by the way!)
I must admit that I'm not impressed with the results you are getting with the plugin. I think I still rather choose my parallel processing more carefully than having these two options on the plugin. However, baby audio for sure is doing great work. Thanks for the great demo!
Please sir i am your biggest fan and i really want to make my tracks professional and nice to hear i haven't got any paid plugins in my 2 years of mysic career i will be extremely happy and grateful if i winn this GIVEAWAY. And last but not the least LOADES OF LOVE FROM INDIA 💗💗

Whatsappje a Plug-in. I bought it and can’t miss it already 👍
That's great to hear Edwin!
Wow! That organ is refreshing!
Thanks ever so much Audrey!
How do I enter for the giveaway? I don't see a link.
Hi Chris! It's the first link in the video description!
@@Producelikeapro Oddly, I couldn't find a description....Different computer, different browser, now I see it. Thanks!
i missed an equal loudness comparisson between the two mixes tbh. The excited one felt like 2-3 times louder so i cant really decide how i find it cause i found the original mix as if it was leaving the vocal breathe better. i dunno
Big aggressive drums. You can hear it push the monitors on that 3 rd setting.
Thank you for your knowledge
Thanks ever so much
it looks like mixing and mastering are merging
Yes, indeed André! They have been for a while!
This seems like parallel compression for dummies which is great for me!
yeah and also parallel compression for those too poor to buy computers with a lot of CPU power. That's what I'm interested in trying it for. Seriously, if it means one less send to one less bus - they've got a deal!
Here's my experience after trying it out:
I was curious to know if Parallel Aggressor on a drum track might help cut down how many sends and aux channels I need to use in order to parallel compress.
That's a really interesting concept that I've never explored before!
thanks warren, buying it now
I like this it sounds great but I can really slam the drums more effectively with slate digital software
Warren, provides the multitracks of this song
even with the SC engaged it certainly squashes the low end. cool interface, but not sure about the sound.
It's wonderful on less dense sources, like overheads, guitars and the organ! Not as good for me on very dense sources.
btw ,,what about the Patiently mix contest ,,any news??????
Winners announced on Fri!!
I only use to make a music audio and write a music notebook from Ez Voice because I love singing.
I really enjoyed singing from Ez Voice because I love singing.
But I only have a Yahama piano that I can sing with the piano and write a music notebook from Ez Voice because I love singing.
@@lyneicehaynes4922 that's wonderful to hear!
hmmm im not sure i like what this and many other plugs do they smear the transient a bit or just the verbs so it appears blurry or grainy, i wish my hearing wasnt so nit picky about that stuff but being a drummer, the click n pop is needed, hence why some use the samples for those artifacts to do it, or a good gate plug, , maybe missing the point but this dosent cut it for me, softube tape does the same for me
I love and watch all your videos! Even if TH-cam does throw up commercials every couple minutes.
Have to say though, on this one, every time you hit the bypass button it sounded way better to me.
Could be since I've grounded myself from plugins for the time being I'm emitting sour grapes bias?d
Sounded great on the guitars and keys, tho. YUGEly better.
Cool, not sure it trumps the Omnipressor tho...
Thats a big sound! I liked it better when it had a bit of blu and funkiness to it.
Idk if it’s just me but when you used it in the drums you lost all the punch and smack of the kick. I think maybe the settings were too high?
I was a bit sad you didn't try this on the vocals.
Yes, that's a good idea! I didn't get to try every variation I could!
Love Baby Audio
Yes, indeed!
Very interesting plugin.
Thanks Emily! I hope you're well!
one video about to use guitars pedal for gear hardware !! sorry my bad english ajajaja great video
Thanks ever so much Martin!
The vocals get buried when used in the mix. The instrumental sounds better, but the Vocals dont come through half as well. Anyone else feel it kind of ruins the stereo field, as well?
I have a parallel crush and a parallel "snap" tracks for drums
Fun plug in
Thanks ever so much!!
No drum samples!! Love it👍. I didnt use any samples on my drums..🎧🤘”BELOVED HYPOCRISY” by “WE SUCK AS HUMANS” 🤘🎧 Rock it out!
Congratulations!
Sounds better bypassed. Seems like it just a limiter. Nice looking though.
I'm gonna be "that guy" and say that I really like the less processed, natural drums over the heavily processed "enhanced" drums. Of course I tend to prefer more "natural" recordings and am a huge Steve Albini fan, who is known for his minimal processing and very naturalistic drum sounds. Cool plugin though but it seems to do weird things to the phase of the drums.
what's the name of the song?
Oh no...
Suena muuuuuuy cool
First thought: Anyone else think this sounds a lot like Logic’s ‘Energizer’? Maybe its successor has finally come.
Interesting! I don't know that plug in!
I only use Logic for it's virtual instruments!
@@Producelikeapro It hasn't existed for a while now, not since LPX. Fred must be using LP9, I assume.
@@wittkacy aha! I see! Thanks for sharing!
Where was that guy raised though?
That guy? haha Me? I was raised in Crookham Village in Hampshire! Where were you raised?
I must admit that I'm not impressed with the results you are getting with the plugin. I think I still rather choose my parallel processing more carefully than having these two options on the plugin. However, baby audio for sure is doing great work. Thanks for the great demo!
How 2

Aw shucks thanks ever so much my friend!!
lml... song pls???
I think using good EQ, compression, and harmonic distortion plugins sound better. This all-in-one seems a bit gimmicky
I'm inclined to agree! Its sorta like those 'all-in-one body wash/shampoo/conditioner' products that seem to only do 1/3rd of a quality job for each!
@@hendrix5757 great analogy!
This vs the waves new studio rack, What's the difference?
