When she asked Pete what his first band he really connected with lyrically, I had to pause for a minute because Chevelle is that band for me. I have listened to them for so many years and still to this day I find new meanings in old songs and albums. Their previous work continues to evolve for me personally. Pete seems like such a genuine person. This was such a great interview. The host asked some great questions!

I love this interview so much. Chevelle saved me during the darkest time of my life and I'll be forever grateful. I've got 8 Chevelle tattoos and almost named my youngest daughter Chevelle (her dad said NO, but I almost did it anyway). Chevelle is hands down the best band I've ever heard and will ever hear. I hope they're around for a long, long time.

Saw Snot with like 300 or 400 people in 97 or 98 like months before they took off. I stole mushroomheads live tape. Have a VHS of Deftones playing Root in 96. Wow. I’m so glad I found this interview. I’m a Chevelle fan going on 20 years now. I’ve been listening to Pete and sams interviews since I got a hold of Wi-Fi or a device. I always wondered what was Pete’s thoughts or positions or beliefs. His own personal beliefs. For years Ive noticed ppl commenting on Chevelle related videos, and they say this song is about god, Jesus or religion. They kept saying Chevelle is a Christian based band. And I go back to look over lyrics and I’m like “how they get to that conclusion or that idea? My only guess is most religious ppl make a connection to their religious beliefs out of pretty much anything, but i have no care how they view or hear It personally. I also wouldn’t give two shits if Chevelle was religious either, even when I’m an atheist, cuz their so bad ass and meant so much to me growing up. I listen to a lot of religious artists and bands, cuz their just so talented and hit just right musically. Christmas music gives me that warm feeling of Nostalgia every winter, regardless of what the songs are about. But was kinda shocking to hear Pete say he was agnostic or atheist.

It was weird, after I watched this interview, that it wasn't surprising at all that Pete is agnostic/borderline atheist. Kings of Leon is the exception as well , 3 brothers and a cousin..... And they're still together and putting out great music, and I'm not talking about the radio hits, I'm talking about when Ahh ha Shakey Heartbreak, no effects, just regular clean guitars and regular overdrive and distortion... And fucking every song on that album is great. In a time where few bands put out albums where every song is great like Nirvana's Nevermind , Stone Temple Pilots Purple, Blind Melons self titled and every release with Shannon Hoon, Jane's Addiction Ritual de la Habitual, Porno For Pyros, Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream, Faith No Mores Epic and Angel Dust, Tool every single album, and Jimi Hendrix , everything he did, and I did the Tom Morello's practice routine, instead of doing homework I'd play guitar for hours, and I was named after Clapton, Dad gave me my first electric guitar and amp, taught me batman on each string, first lesson at 6 yrs old, 12 years old taught me strumming and chords, so when I was ready to really play, was 16, after Kurt died, I watched on VHS tape Nirvana Live Tonight Sold Out, and I watched him play and he did bar chords and I learned Polly, and a friend showed me how to tune and read tab, then I heard Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Chile slight return and Red House and I said if I could play like that , I could get laid, and within a year I was better than anyone in my town , until I became friends with Kenny Wayne Shepherd, but we became friends because of our love of Nirvana and Kurt, but we were buds, then I moved to New Orleans, and after years of playing I made it into a Jimi Hendrix guitar Competition, name in the official Hendrix magazine, and played the blues station in New Orleans!!! So I eventually learned everything I could from Hendrix and Cobain, Chili peppers, and finally had to find my own style, and I write things that combined everything I've learned but sounds nothing like them. But technically I have a style that if you watched me play you wouldn't know what chords or notes I play bc I use my thumb, and the way I do things it looks like I might be playing a full chord but I'll be hitting maybe two notes and maybe do hammer ons and pull offs, and may sound really hard but it's actually very simple.

The Red, Send the Pain Below and Face to the Floor are all good songs, but Pete has written too many incredibly deep songs, like One Lonely Visitor, One Ocean, Twinge, Endlessly, Panic Prone, Bend the Bracket, Envy, Clones, Well Enough Alone, In Debt to the Earth, Safer waters, Closure, Jars, Letter from a Thief, Roswell’s Spell , Highland’s Apparition, and Emotional Drought just to name a few, for those 3 songs to be their top 3 singles. Literally every song I just named as well as a dozen other Chevelle songs are way better than those 3 songs IMO. I love a lot of bands/artists and I always say after a concert, “that was awesome, but we’re on to the next one,” but after I saw Chevelle I knew that I was gonna do that shit again, and at this point I’ve seen them 4 times and out of every other band I listen to (which is a lot of fucking bands) I’ve yet to see any other band more than 2 times and the bands that I saw twice are 3 Days Grace, Foo Fighters, Breaking Benjamin, Down, Lamb of God and Korn. And half of those bands I only saw two times because they were touring with Chevelle, otherwise I wouldn’t have seen them again, no offense to 3 Days Grace, BB or Korn I like their music, but they’re not bucket list bands for me.

This interviewer needs to relax. Like seriously... she's way too loud / high-energy to come across as genuine, just seems like she's trying too hard to force a connection or something. Chill the fuck out, please. I love Chevelle so I'm kinda dissapointed by that.🙄

Pete kept mentioning how having a band with your siblings is a horrible idea and the interviewer kept being like “except you guys!” But they had a pretty bad falling out with the third brother that I’m sure is what Pete was hinting at lmao

As Pete and Sam have mentioned before, Joe wasn’t really present and when he was, he wasn’t a pleasant team player.

@@TheCondorjc apparently, he would only come into the studio to record the bass parts (that Pete pretty much wrote), then would fuck off, that is if he hadn't "quit" the band for the 4th time that month. Around This Type of Thinking/Vena Sera Pete and Sam just said "sure, wish granted, don't come back." Then just refused to invite him back after he quit for the last time.

Don't know what you interview you all were watching, but she gave Pete a lot of time to talk overall. Of course there were some random interruptions and shit, but this is one of the most genuine conservsations/interviews I've ever seen.

Disillusioning to find Pete Loeffler is kind of a loser much like Kurt Cobain Billy Corgan and other great songwriters with not much life experience. Luckily he did mature from this early interview somewhat.
