I’ve heard her only from Norway’s Got Talent and AGT and I was blown away! And her signature of the bare feet…like kd Lang, not that has anything to do with anything, but her voice,her style, is so beautifully different! And you, music man , whoever you are, I’m sort I didn’t get your name, I didn’t catch your name, you so perfectly summed up all the little nuances and details of her singing voice. You nailed it when it comes to Angelina Jordan.
She, effortlessly, takes this James Brown classic into and beyond the
stratosphere. Her versatility is unmatched by any singer I have ever
experienced.
As the some who are lucky enough to see her live says... You never heard Angelina until you hear her sing live in person.

I found something interesting. The conductor breaks character at 6:46, staring at Angelina, shaking his head. It looks awesome.
My guess is that she didn't do it the same way during the rehearsal. If you listen to the Spotify official recording, you will find she only repeats about 4 times at the top of the note (ululating, or whatever it is called). Here, she goes all the way to 11 or something like that. It makes for an incredible climax. Probably surprised the conductor.
Notice also how the clarinette players react at 1:51. Pure joy.

This would be a pretty amazing live performance for a 35-year old global jazz star at her absolute peak. For a twelve year old girl, singing outdoor live, and the performance recorded on a mobile phone - are you kidding me? This is totally insane - and yet, it stands alongside perhaps another thirty earthshattering performances by Angelina, rather than completely outshining them. Mindblowing!

Never ceases to amaze me. I've heard this many many times and it's flat out mind blowing. Amateur audio and video and is better than major record label artists. Don't tell me this little chic can't rock. Album and concerts coming.
Notice how nervous and jerky she is LOL. It's like she is waiting for a bus. She has said in her interviews, that she never gets nervous, and we know it is because she knows what she is going to do, and how to go about it. She was born to do this; how could she go wrong!!

Jess, you were rightly impressed by the presence of Angelina's voice. I am even more impressed by Angelina's overall presence. She is, impossibly, both totally in the moment with her musicians and audience and totally in her otherworldly, closed-eyes creative space at the same time. And that contributes greatly to the presence of her voice.
That makes sense to me. I hope it does to you and all her angels viewing this.
That is one of the things I find most remarkable about Angelina... how she can simultaneously both totally inhabit the music AND communicate beautifully with her audience... it's like a superpower and from what I have seen she has always had it....
When you got it, you just got it! And she's got it! Did you see how the band leader looked over at her in shock and awe when she did that long belting run near the end? By the look on his face, I don't think that was part of the rehearsal! Angelina has magic tricks she pulls out of her bag from time to time.
I so glad you went to Angelina for a feel good pick-me-up. How often do the conductor and the band members applaud for a performer, basically never. She was definitely on fire. Not only was this recoded on a phone but there is a pond between the stage and the audience. Can you imagine how wonderful she sounded in person. I’m so glad you were able to end in a joyous mood ❤

Yeah..Angelina bringing it at, I think, 12 yo! She is pretty much untouchable. SO relaxed, swaying back and forth, firing off belt notes/phrases interspersed with soft jazz rifts with bent notes and seemingly casual vibrato and varying dynamics..but it's all intentional. Nice reaction!
Ok...I'm going to admit it....I've watched reactions to this performance maybe 50 times. I'm free from Brandon Syndrome and do remember the previous 49 reactions .....AND STILL, EVERYTIME...I whoop and clap loudly and talk to the reactor on my big screen TV like we're both sharing this experience live in Norway. Time for some other Grown Adults, here, to admit they do the same thing.

It was recorded on a (cellphone?) camera on the other side across a pond! 🤯 You can see it when you watch the video to its end. Amazing how much clarity and definition is in her voice even with all these voice attenuators.

Now you have to put on some good headphones and sit back, close your eyes and listen to her (audio only) performance of IAMW, the same year (2018), at Kongsberg with the same 4 piece band she performed with last year...that's the one you're gonna want to play in your car...gritty jazz/blues with a mental guitar outro...Angelina sounds like Elvis when she says "tusen takk" after the applause

I think Boris listed somewhere how he had updated all his equipment in preparation for doing Angelina justice. We all owe him a LOT !!!
@@mrstlu4838 Boris was not allowed to use his sound recorder that he brings to the concerts, only his mobile phone. In 2019 he was allowed to use it at a Prøysenhuset (i was sitting right behind him). Even if there were good recordings, we really missed our friend Boris at the last years concerts.
@@geirstianaaslund7141 I forgot that! After all the money he spent, he wasn’t allowed to make use of it. I suppose with the album’s launch it was pretty understandable. He did really well, though. I like this live recording best!
I really think Angelina is an encyclopedia of emotion, At each stage in her life we all know that it would be impossible for her to have experienced all the emotional events of the WORDS in her lyrics. For example the word LOVE may be in the lyrics but when Angelina sings it, it becomes more than just a word, it becomes an emotion that we feel, not just a word we hear. I have been trying to understand why I now FEEL the emotions and meanings that have been hidden in the music I have been listening to during my 77 years. Sure there have been those performers who have on occasion managed to hit the emotional bullseye but NEVER, EVER has anyone done it within the first 30 seconds of every song and so far in every genre. New words must be used to describe her and her abilities.
Pure power and she really brings out the Jazz in this one. Thought you would have done this so a pleasant surprise you hadn't and I could watch it with you. Another one at the top of my list. No one like her! ♥👣👸🏻🎷
We’re so used to the intimate breathy vocal fry ballads w one instrument but here shes singing out and at times very loud but stays in pitch n placement without screaming. Just solid earnestness in her punches. Standing in front of a horn orchestra she kept right up in her own brassiness. I love seeing the horn players hearing it all. Its a treat for them too.

I love your expression and shaking of your head on her final run...... She sang this song at the Kongsberg Jazz festival a few weeks later and there is a only audio video on YT available and it is professionally recorded by the festival organizer. Only 2 months since I found Angelina and just can't stop listening, especially to performances like THIS. Unbelievable. I've told at least 15 people about her and none had heard of her before. How is that possible?? So I've decided all of us here on TH-cam listening to this vocal magician must be what it was like to be at the Cavern Club in early 1962 hearing this phenomenal but unknown group called "The Beatles", who had not yet been discovered by the rest of the world ... but soon would be.
I suggest that you buy a copy of her CD "It's Magic " all the songs that she sings with this band are on it and the audio is so much better. I think my favorite song on it is "Sing Softly Love"
Notice the musos reactions: you can just make out a ladies face in the right hand back of the orchestra (flautist?), the look of bliss on her face, the 2 guys playing woodwind in the front left, can't hold back a smile, and even the conductor, when Angelina belts out those protracted notes towards the end, can't help himself but give her a smile and a look from the side... What must it be like to be a seasoned musician, and see a young slip of a girl come out on a stage, in front of a crowd and absolutely shred the music with such power and finesse.... ? Awe inspiring, breathtakingly so. Loving your observations and analysis
After the summer of 2018 there are no other full performances from Angelina for this song. Only recently about 3 months ago she posted a short video (1 minute) of her playing the guitar and singing it's a man's world on her Instagram reel. Jesse, this performance blew my mind. I had just discovered her singing A Million Years Ago and didn't think she could improve on that! But she did! The poise, soul, power and control off the charts. Keeps getting better!

Yeah a magnificent performance and she is hitting those notes in her head/mixed voice with sniper precision while at the same sounding casual about it. Angelina hits me with those notes like a sniper as well: hitting the spots of the brains where all the good stuff happens :-)
Awesome reaction to 12 Angelina as always. She hit that so far out of the park, that they can't find it. She did that song again live that same year 2018 when she was 12 but at Kongsberg and with her small stage band, and it gave a more intimate feel and of course she did differently, but it's audio only. Please react to it, you'll really love it and the guitar solo in it also.❤👍

There was something special about this particular performance. The first clarinet went a little overboard, Angelina stepped up in response - I think we can agree that Angelina won the contest. The performances before and after never quite reached this level, it's something about how musicians interact, somehow giving a slightly different performance each time - we were lucky that Boris Palenovski was there with his trusty simple camcorder to bring this to us.
She had, allegedly, asked him to go all out 🙂
My favorite part of this performance is the interplay between Angelina and the clarinet player.

Angelina Jordan won Norway’s Got Talent at the age of 8 in 2014, the prize for winning was $80,000.00, this money was donated to children’s charities. At age 8 her first charity performance was in Germany to raise money for heart disease. Again, at age 8 she does a telethon for Plan International Children’s Charity. Still at age 8 she performs for Norwegian Sea Rescue Society Charity. On the 12th of Dec still at age 8, she performs at Save The Child Nobel Peace Prize, 4 days later, even though she has a very bad cold, she performs for the Swedish Heroes Foundation against her doctor's orders. At age 10 she performed for the Norwegian Refugee Council Charity. Also age 10 she performed in Seoul in South Korea for Rotary International to raise money for children’s vaccinations. Angelina Jordan comes from a very wealthy family and does need the money, she, and her family want to share her wonderful talent with the world. This is what makes AJ and her family so very special.
