    I’m not sure I like the idea of raising the MAST/DAST score from 6 to 10. I say this because I used to be addicted, and would often try to minimize my symptoms on assessment. I’ve heard that’s why they sometimes round up, as far as indicators of addiction. On the other hand, I hate to see adolescents who are not problem drinkers being put into treatment with people with severe addictions, which does happen when parents and counselors are told to “assume that if you find a joint in a child’s room, they have smoked 100 joints.” That may sound ridiculous but I have seen many educational materials recommending that people overestimate addiction quite a bit. So I am torn!
