I had a loop monitor for a few months. It discovered I had a couple of pauses of 3 or 4 seconds. That was a good thing. The bad thing, was that the tech who was monitoring me missed them and I was not told about them till 4 months later! I could have passed out driving , very upset. I no longer trust that group. I went to another doctor and I now have a pacemaker. I am 65 and doing well. I am grateful for the Linq. Was a good dedication to get one. I thank you for all your wonderful videos

Dr Sanjay, I really appreciate all the videos you have made. You are doing a great service to many people.
I wanted to ask you a question about the palpitations I have been having.
I cannot see a cardiologist for 2 weeks, but I have an appointment. I would sincerely appreciate your input and advice.
    Im a 22 year old male. I am 5'11", 145 pounds.
My resting heart rate is around 60 bpm. I don't smoke, or drink. I try to eat healthy, no red meat, no dairy, water is my only beverage, etc.
I have done an echocardiogram, an EKG, and a 2 week event monitor. The echo showed that my heart is structurally normal. The EKG was normal. The event monitor picked up a couple PVC's, one during exercise. These tests were done because I complained of palpitations when laying down, NOT during exercise.
I had these tests done a little bit over a year ago. Since then, my palpitations have gotten more frequent during exercise.
As a young kid, I was very actively. Lately, I haven't been so active, but I have been trying to get back into it. The last couple weeks I have been going on walks every other day and trying to get at least a little bit of exercise every day.
The thing is, when I'm doing anything more than mild cardio, my heart palpitates during the exercise. As soon as I push myself, I get palpitations. I get them from lifting heavy objects, running, etc. As soon as my BPM gets high I get palpitations almost every time.
I'm not sure if this problem is simply because I'm out of shape. I should be able to run up a couple flights of stairs without palpitations, right?
The palpitations are pretty intense. It feels like my heart is fluttering and having extra beats. They really scare me. They make me slightly lightheaded, but im not sure if that part is just anxiety. So I have been avoiding intense exercise.
My number 1 fear is obviously cardiac arrest.. is that very unlikely considering my symptoms, lack of structural heart disease, and normal resting EKG?
I don't have a family history of cardiac arrest, except for my grandmother, who was a heavy smoker and alcoholic and constantly stressed by her abusive husband. She died in her early 40s from a heart problem. I don't know what it was exactly. Possibly cardiac arrest.
Does this sound normal to you? Should I stop exercising till I see the cardiologist?
    Please help me Doctor Sanjay.
    Thank you

Thank you so much for this video!!
My EP has suggested I get one to monitor wether or not I'm having any silent AFib episodes. I will be having the Reveal Linq placed in a few weeks. Your videos are always so informative and helpful. A big thank you from Texas!! 😊

Hi . I had a reveal link loop recorder inserted last September for episodes of possible Supra ventricular tachycardia. It was quite a painless procedure and I forget it's there most of the time .
When I experience symptoms I use a hand held device to download the recording to the electrophysiology department at the hospital. They assess it the same day and let me know what they think . I feel very reassured and lucky to have one and if anybody is offered one I would definitely recommend it .
Thanks for your videos dr Gupta

Hi .I had a reveal link loop recorder inserted last September due to episodes of possible supra ventricular tachycardia . If anyone is due to have the same procedure it's quite painless and I really just forget it's there but it's very reassuring if you've been experiencing heart rhythm problems to know they will be detected and assessed . I have used a handheld device to download recordings of a few rhythm disturbances to the hospital to be checked by the electrophysiology department . They then contact me to let me know what's happened. I feel lucky to have one and if you are given the opportunity I would really recommend you have it done.
Thanks for the videos DR Gupta

    • @carolefaithorn7209
      @carolefaithorn7209 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have had one of those smaller devices for a year. Insertion was easy and painfree. The tiny scar is barely noticeable; it's not uncomfortable - infact I don't even know it's there. I have not experienced any side effects at all. The device has detected one episode of AF in the last 12 months which has been helpful in itself where determining a treatment plan is concerned. I'd say 'go for it'! I was told it cost £1,500 and considered myself very lucky indeed to be given one 'free' on the NHS in the UK.

I’m on my second loop recorder, having had a recent replacement after my first battery died (lasted 4 years). My device never migrated. The injection site healed so well that sometimes it was difficult to locate for readings but it was always where it was originally injected, I’d just forget exactly where.

Thanks for making this video- I am scheduled to have this procedure next week. My question is what can actually be done if they find an abnormality? I’ve had a heart mri that showed up some scar tissue but the consultant says overall was very good...so it seems to me that my problems are down to the electrical signal being distributed between the various chambers of the heart; I just wonder if procedures such as ablastation can really help? I just don’t want to end up with a load of data about my heart and find that that’s as far as things go. Sadly I don’t expect my local hospital to have the 1,000 pound devices so I’m not really looking forward to the larger device :-(
