@@terrystunnerI'm talking about 1-2 bars at the timestamp dude. I already know that the time signatures in the places you just mentioned. Either they are playing something VERY syncopated at this point, or it goes back into another time signature (possibly 5 again?)
The Rex is in Toronto, and is one of the first venues they ever played in Canada. True to their form, they come back every once in a while... about two years ago they played a show in Toronto at a much larger venue, but did an after-show at the Rex until about 4 AM. They've been known to do surprise shows here as well.
this video was recorded before they did the recording on we like it here. he didn’t want to play because he knew he thought he was too drunk and gonna mess it up
The popular solo that has the world mesmerized will never be repeated. I would love to know where his head was as he was making that presentation. While this solo is good, Cory knows it isn't what that ONE was. No disrespect, I have trouble with Mary had a little lamb on the keys.
this was made before that one... theres another video somewhere on yt that shows the other takes of this song the nights before THAT solo was recorded u can see how he starts to craft the ideas in the final one
That famous solo isnt a one hit wonder. This guy knows exactly what hes doing
Everybody is really drunk there. haha
"I don't want to play!" ... LOL
BAwesomeDesign Lol I think he was drunk 😂😂
Proceeds to absolutely kill it, classic Cory!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love the way Larnell leans back while playing the bass drum rhythm haha
Hm... There must be something special about these sunglasses... where can I buy them? :D
Daniel Kanas Please let me know too when you have found the place where they sell them 😂
Cory henry is the real beast even while so drunk, he still plays the piano with so much accuracy and speed 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😩🙌🏾
when you're drunk, but still a wizard
Wasted Puppy is the best.
lol
Larnell has never touched any substance, so he is keeping everything tight
@@JDIASPRODUCTIONS exactly
He is not of this earth
8:37 "Shit.. where are the other keys!?"
LMAO 😂
I want to see Larnell Lewis and Cory Henry together in a Snarky Puppy set so bad. So epic. I missed it! D-=
same. I saw SP three times and neither of them were there
@@catalystdrums123I judt saw them for the third time too. Cory Henry has his own singing thing now. Larnell is on the other coast. I'm in Seattle.
He's literally on another level to everyone.
I like how Michael league as a band leader likely transformed from dread to delight over the course of this solo.
And he gets better and better. Amazing!
what you cant think off is what cory henry plays...There are just 12 different notes and he seems like hes using a hundred
@7:45 The chords voicing are insane
I've come back to this vid probably over a dozen times just for this one part lol
michael league's reaction is me
Corey is on Saturn wit that solo
5:20 looking at that hi hat makes my foot cramp
These horn lines do not get enough credit. They are killlling after the clave.
Man i would kill to see this lineup at The Rex, what an experience. Such a tiny jazz bar venue fpr such a huge (talent and size wise) band.
2013... I guarantee that those patrons of that Jazz & Blues bar have never ever EVER heard a performance like that :-O
Laarnel is such a MUSICAL BEAST!!!!
He was amazing but WHAT MUSICIAN ever says those words. sweet solo.
He's drunk as fuck xD
A drunk one! Lmfao
3:06 good lord
ok Larnell doesn't drink but how is Nate Werth going equally crazy while being totally slammed
rhythm section serious though.
8:38 keyboard too short for Cory 🤣
Man for real
Literally a ghost note 😆
He killed them with that ending.
This is wonderful. And the lesson is: treat every time like the first time.
the guy is before his times
Marcus Schiebold I keep telling people he's an alien
Those sunglasses helped
I think they're drunk too. Maybe that's the secret?
No they are definetly wasted
Genius
Its called he has a gift from the Lord called the holyghost
9:04 SARCASM
Just One of my may talents
😀
What about june talents?
Final boss energy
LOL "mark you take it mark!"
最後のとこ、アルバム版と違うけどこれはこれでカッコいいな!
cory henry misses a note at 8:38
So?
He didn't even mis a note dumb ass
He still wanted to get down but his thumb just play nowhere 😅
He just plays the song like there is no key for the song 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
6:57 lol

Holy fucking cory henry
Epic.
Just wait for minute 4
1:27 nice

Its avtually 4/4 for solo the rest of the song is in 5/8

how come they played this tiny venue?
why not?

thanks for the info! :-)
Very late, but the rex is THE jazz bar in Toronto, and an institution
what scale crazy It is? 😵
Drunk scale
@@chillandsmoke5008 rather Cory's scale
All of them i belive
Probably blues minor and dorian dragged up and down by half steps, as well as major triads jumping around in the upper structures
What model of Moog is he playing?
That is a moog little phatty.
Wow!!!!
813 Likes? Seriously?
Why is he shy to play? Cause he thinks the original solo will never be beaten?
this video was recorded before they did the recording on we like it here. he didn’t want to play because he knew he thought he was too drunk and gonna mess it up

what kind of keyboard is he using?

Snarky Puppy is nothing without Larnell and Cory
Must not know the bassist. He writes the music and is the mastermind behind all that is snarky puppy
@@-5249 Yeah I know Michael League. He’s probably not going anywhere. Just saying they sound like a different band without Larnell and Cory.

Crazy that they were still playing bars around this time. I first saw them in 2019, when they sold out the Royal Albert Hall which seats ~5000
