Destroyer isn't too bad but he does look simple and not imposing, I agree, the PhotoShop does help make that clearer. I don't care about this Thor at all, I really wish they sold Destroyer separately. If he was by himself, I would definitely try to get him. Could I get the height for Destroyer, please?
Wish we had some effect parts, Mjolnir spinning and a different head for the Destroyer with a beam shot or fire like plumes billowing upwards. I want a Destroyer but with an open face for his beam attacks.
Minor thing that bugged me about this Thor: in body and the face-shield head, this is an Eric Masterson Thor. Most of the artwork I saw of Eric Masterson holding a weapon has him gripping it with his left hand. The Thunderstrike also lacked this, and courtesy of reuse from 80 Years Thor this lacks it too. It's that lack of attention to detail that is irksome especially in these 'special' sets they're asking us to pay more for.
When, I was kid, the version of Thor that I knew was Eric. So for me this is the Thor that I am looking for. As for what hand he held the hammer. He used both hands. There are many times in the comics and on the covers that he held Mjolnir in his right hand. Cover Examples: Thor 433, 436, 440, 442, 445, 446, 453, 454, 456. I only got the first thunderstrike comic, but I think in Marvel Age 123 he has Mjolnir in his right hand.
Mister Anthony, in this old doctor’s humble estimation, you are an extraordinary teacher; you summarised action figure anatomy brilliantly-from proper joints and functioning ball pegs to correct humanoid proportions. You have a teaching past, yes, so you could teach a class on action figures.😂 Thank you for sharing, Giovanni Marino, M.D.🇬🇧
Anthony, how is it that you, just one man on TH-cam have a much better grasp of anatomy than a billion dollar toy company? You’d think they would be able to hire someone who knows what a human should look like but apparently not.
every mass production company will always try to do the bare minimum, some try a little harder than others, but otherwise, yeah, they love cutting corners whenever they can.
@LightDarkxZ it's not on the money either, they tend to squander on the simplest of tasks, and they either are too lazy to fix anything or there's some sort of conflict going on within that has resulted in a bad product. You've ever seen Robocop, where a company had this one dude pushing a product at first glance looks intimidating. but then there are major design flaws they (the higher ups pushing the product, not the actual designers themselves) are unwilling to fix because of their arragonce.
@@themysteriousspeeddemon To me, it's just incompetence really. You're already modeling an all new sculpt, it's gonna cost the same either you do it good or not. So either the people they hired don't know what they're doing, or the higher ups make them do a bad job on purpuse to never give a definitive product, so people keep buying "upgraded" versions of the same figure every couple of years. Basically artificially lowering the quality of the product to, ironically, force people to keep buying.
Was expecting a lot more criticism of Thor's legs, but it seems like yours are genuinely better than mine. Mine are unbelievably gummy. Like, they CANNOT even bend forward at the thighs whatsoever. It's mush. Push forward, and it'll gloop back down into neutral.
Anthony, I picked up this set today and had to mention that, hilariously, for this new release Hasbro used the Ragnarok cyborg Thor right hand with the giant tumor to support the spinning hammer, and yet included no spinning hammer accessory. So he has a giant tumor on his right palm for no reason, when they could have used the normal hammer-holding hand from the original 80 Years Thor. They have no clue WTF they are doing at that company.
Hulk is easily my favorite original avenger. I think he’s the most interesting and complex of the original heroes. I can’t believe how badly marvel butchered his character in the MCU
Of the founding Avengers, my favourite is Thor, then Iron Man, then Wasp. If we're including Cap in the core Avengers despite him not being a founding member, he's easily at the top for me.
Thanks for the review Anthony. Bringing out the Destroyer's chest malformation hit me right in the feels. Upon first view I knew there was something a little odd about it, and it wasn't until you mentioned it that I suddenly realized the same thing. I checked my decade old Marvel Select Destroyer, and it appears they did the chest right on that one.
If you take the head from Thor and put it on the herald of galactus body it makes for a pretty interesting look if I might say so. I quite like it, it’s my Thor on my shelf right now
Q of the Day: My favorite Avenger is Captain America. It’s just not the Avengers without him. I really appreciated this review, because it’s been hard for me to get a read on this set. You did a nice job (as always) of balancing out the highs and the lows. Since you gave it a 7/10 and would be just as comfortable with a 6/10, maybe I’ll split the difference and wait until I can get it for 35% off! 😛
I bought this pack 2 month ago, with a repaint those figures, I expend 13 buck on paint and have lot of it, they look 80 % better. Why hasbro is so greedy with his buyers
Out of the original Avengers line up I'd pick Thor and Iron Man in joint first place. Tony was more fun but Thor had the mytological background I love. Then maybe Cap. The early version of Hulk was kind of a pouty petulant teenager like Anakin in Attack of the Clones.😁 The Destroyer fig looks almost perfect, but if it had the bigger better sculpted chest you mentioned Anthony and a ball joint at the waist, it'd be so much better. The Thor would benefit from 2 fists and grasping hands. The painted flesh on his torso is terrible. I'd be tempted to remove it. They have used better metallic gold plastics. The one they used is lack lustre.
Destroyer has a body like a potato. He's intimidating in a similar way to someone like Andre the Giant who is just big, but not really in possession of an impressive physique (at least WWF era Andre). I don't see why anyone would want Destroyer to look like that though. Just very unimpressive. I'm glad I don't care about The Avengers or else I'd be disappointed in this set.
Love Destroyer here. Not too bad. Tho I would have loved if they just added a waist cut where the cut of the armor goes. Another ball would be better sure but the waist cut would look better for aesthetics and hiding it. If they make a single release for this, I might get it at clearance.
So far this whole Avengers Anniversary wave has been disappointing IMO. The only figure that I wasn’t disappointed with is Black Widow. Grey Hulk looks fine, but everything else just looks like the bare minimum effort has been put into it. That Thor looks so cheap. And that body just doesn’t pose well with the gummy legs and poor torso range. And don’t even get me started on Hawkeye. Those small low shoulders and bland looking face just kills the figure. The colors look nice. That basically where my positives stop.
Thor is my favorite Avenger, but I'd still argue that Hulk is the most interesting character. I wish this 2 pack was better but I still want that Destroyer, unfortunately. I actually like the proportions and sculpting better here than the Select, and he'll certainly be more fun to pose
Why can they nail a diaphragm joint on Destroyer of all figures, but seemingly EVERY other one has either no range or only range going backwards. Destroyer, obviously known for his hyper dynamic action poses.
Got this set for 30$ thought it was a good price, needed a Thor for the collection too. If you can get it for a good price I think it’s definitely worth it 💯 not full price at all tho
I want marvel to make the destroyer from the first Thor movie I really don’t care for the classic look the MCU destroyer is epic built perfect give us that not this lol
I was going to get this set until I saw Thor’s torso. It’s just offensive! And then I realized they weren’t painting Destroyer and he was going to have that crap plastic swirling going on.
I like Thor because he is definitely awesome with his own mighty hammer and I do think Donald Blake Thor had a beard during the 90s which I will use to display in my Avengers display because I don't have the 80 Years Thor figure, Overall, Great review Anthony.
Y’know what drives me crazy about Marvel Legends? The misuse of the various plastics. This Thor has gummy knee joints that will warp within a year and yet his hair is crazy rigid. Why can they not reverse that? The hair on most figures is glued on. With a figure with long hair use the softer, pliable plastic so the character can use its neck articulation better. And with a big character like Thor use the more rigid plastic for the elbow and knee joints. WTH??!!
Since you don't review movie figures, it's hard to tell but I think Hasbro is putting their efforts and budget in MCU figures. They seem better. At least aesthetically. Which is a shame because how many people still care about the MCU ? Ok it was fun for a while but now it's too much, it's dragging... But maybe I'm wrong.
Thor is my favorite Avenger. Regarding this two pack, I gave Destroyer a pass because it is just animated armor. However, that Thor figure is absolute rubbish. The torso is just Hasbro cutting corners while still charging premium prices.
No matter how great the sculpt and articulation may be, if there is a no paint, the figure looks so BAD. No doubt they will re-release Destroyer down the line with better paint job which I will get. The wobbly knee on Thor is also awful.
Yes, they got me on this one. The previous Destroyer is more expensive by itself at this point. Didn't really need the Thor, but I can use him as my Futuristic Thor.
Come on, Anthony. Knocking down five points for aesthetics on Thor? I agree the chest isn’t the best, but from 9 to 4 it’s a little too emotional of a review. I know reviews are never 100% objective, but leave the emotions on the side line. Keep reviewing and collecting.
@@AnthonysCustoms That's what I'm saying boy, you're the guy who helps you quit the habit of collecting, you just have to look at your reviews a few times and the desire goes away for good! Thank you very much 😆

he's 9 inches.

Painted Thor's boots gold and it made him look so much better. Destroyer was the only reason I bought this pack for though.

I'm glad I didn't knee-jerk sell my Marvel Select Destroyer when I got wind this was in the pipeline. It's just so much better in almost every way.

My biggest problem with the esthetic on Thor is the boots. They are supposed to be metal and the look very plastic.
I'm going to just paint the eyes of my Ragnarok Thor and call it a day.

If Vision counts, I’d go with him as my favorite avenger. He’s had some pretty interesting stories since 2010.

17$ is a great deal don’t feel bad gang
Bro...I couldn't believe that shit either. they painted his armor on his chest...freaking bizarre. No accessories either.
I'd get Destroyer, but I'd prefer the beardless Thor head and am still looking for one to swap the one Ragnarok has
I also want a head for Ragnarok Thor
I doubt I'll be picking this one up unless I feel like doing a Thor custom but would wait til someone on ebay starts selling the heads
It might not be worth the price, but I finally get the Eric Masterson version that I have been looking for.
I got the marvel select destroyer so i can pass this set
The black painted torso throws me off. As if he actually painted himself instead of wearing actual clothing.
Just got it from Ollie's for a hot 20 definitely worth it
I love the semi realistic style
Deadpool 2pack next

1) cap!!!
2) Thor !!!
3) Ironman!!!

Thor is definitely my favorite avenger.
Ironman is top most favorite avenger.....then hulk for sure.....

I would never display that Thor because of the bad skin tone paint, Destroyer looks nice as hell
