Was going to comment this too. Also at the end of Walt Simonson’s run in the late 80’s Thor grew a beard to cover some scars after being cursed by Hela to not heal like he normally would or something like that. He ended up using the Destroyer armor to beat her and she lifted the curse
Same here. I see people referring the figure as Masterson everywhere. But Thor is known to carry the bearded look (both in comics and movies). Anyways great to have the bearded comic look in the collection! 😇
I'll probably pick this set up. I like the look of the figures, and the 80 years Thor I got from Hasbro Pulse has some nasty defects. The neck was set in the torso at a 45 degree turn, and the right leg has a left calf and foot.
There’s not too many figure review channels that I return to mostly because it seems like a lot of the guys on TH-cam don’t even like figures that come with the legends quality and price point so every video is just them seemingly dunking on all the figures, but had I only listened to them, I wouldn’t have half the figures I enjoy today! Shart typically does a good job at pointing out the strengths AND the gripes he has without being discouraging towards the figures and collectors. So for that, I gotta say thank you for being a reliable figure review channel!❤
I really liking this set…mostly for The Destroyer figure. And I like the Thor figure (the head does look a little big). I wish there was a blast effect for The Destroyer and a spinning Mjolnir effect but I can use the other one that came with the 80th anniversary Thor. I’m definitely getting this, thanks for the review Shartimus.
It’s almost like it would physically hurt hasbro to re tool Thor’s parts painless. I’m tired of hasbro not releasing a pinless classic Thor with two fists.
Do pinless joints really do anything on Hasbro figures? They still look like toys, with visible joints and glossy finishes that look like Fisher Price baby toys. According to Hasbro, pinless joints take away from the budget, so losing out on potential paint and accessories isn't worth it to make a toy still look like a toy
I went to C2E2 this weekend and picked up both figs with all accessories for $35!! Thanks for the review, this made me be on the look out while I was at the Con!!
Hi shart, I got into an injury during my gym exercise today and it would mean a lot if you sent your prayers to me I love your content shart Update: I’m good now, doing much much better, thanks for all the prayers, it genuinely meant a lot and still does to me. I thank all of you and god for the help I’ve gotten 🙏
I prefer the MCU Destroyer figure that came out with the first Thor movie because it has the vents around the eyes open and painted reddish Orange like he’s gonna blast the crap outta something or someone.
Marvel Legends Destroyer is better by far imho. Feel like they knocked it out of the park with this one. Wish they would have had an alternate head sculpt with an open visor and a blast effect but other than that they did a great job.
hey shartimus hope you are okay, just wanted to ask you something. So a couple of weeks ago I made my first order from BBTS and it was going great until the figure arrived in my country, I live in Colombia and the figure arrived in the capital and it hasn't moved since and I've been waiting for 2 weeks or so but I haven't got any news from the package. I was just wondering if you could help me or give me any advice. Thank you for your time
I think the ML Destroyer looks odd having a narrow upper body, not to mention the hideous wide and flat feet and weird inward ankles that plague many Hasbro ML figures. Also, I like the more angular head on the Select as opposed to the rounded one on the ML in addition to having better paint. But in the end, to each their own.
@@Woah_Lookagreed. The actual paint on the MS makes it look like a collectible while the lack of paint and crap plastic swirls make the ML look like a kids toy.
Yeah, the Select Destroyer looks alright for that particular company’s offering, but it looks kinda chubby. The Hasbro Legends one looks much more athletic (which I prefer).
@@Woah_Look I think the Diamond Select looks pretty odd with its chubby proportions and lack of difference in thickness through most of the body. Almost like a marshmallow man.
I've commented on other videos but can you or the other viewers reading this comment recommend a website where I can get the mafex Peter b Parker figure and it ships to the uk I tried bigbadtoystore but they are out of stock and I don't think they will restock I've been looking for months sorry this has nothing to do with the video thanks
I think I like the Hasbro version better. The select version is nice, and if i had bought it when it was in stores, I probably wouldn't feel a need to buy the Hasbro version. However, right now the Select version is at least the price of the two pack, if not more. The Hasbro version is also proportioned differently which actually makes it look taller. Select version seems a bit stubby even though they are the same height.
I doubt the select version would look stubby in person. I bought the Mcfarlane doomsday/superman 2 pack and both Doomsday and Superman are wider and thicker than Destroyer and Thor at the same height, and they don't look stubby at all. I stood both $60 two packs side by side and I like looking at the McFarlane 2 pack way more.
I like both Destroyers but I think I am going to stick with the 2 pack because generally I prefer Legends so my collection looks consistent and clean. The Thor will go with the Extremis Iron Man and the Ultimate Cap on my Ultimate Alliance shelf. Hopefully this comic Destroyer means we are getting closer to a movie Destroyer with maybe a Thor 1 Thor figure.
The destoryer looks awesome dont get me wrong but its kinda annoying how hasbro lazily does not put toe articulation double ab crunch and butterfly joint and fix the headtop honestly its easier since its a bigger figure and big figures do suffer from lack of joints from hasbro also lack of accessories ? Cmon maybe some thunder or alt laser head for the destoryer wouldve gone a long way I wouldve paid more ! Hard Pass
Nice! I would probably like the Marvel Legends Destroyer little better than the Marvel Select just because of the improved articulation. But since I already have the Select figure, it's not worth it to me to get the 2-pack. Especially since I wasn't reading Thor during that time so I have no connection to that version of Thor. Plus he says things like "It's time for some serious butt pounding!" LOL
Stop asking for the neck hinge please- it looks hideous, breaks the sculpt, and has zero side to side range. The joint sucks, and the only reason you don’t like the dumbbell joints in Hasbro figures is because Hasbro is so spectacularly inept at executing them. It needs a large, shallow ball in the base of the neck and a small ball in the head. Hasbro usually does deep set neck peg AND large peg up top with a deep, small peg in the neck. It is an incompetent clown show.
Diamond select wins hands down, im so disgusted with dc & marvel!!!!! Especially after picking up necas new 2023 predators!!!!! I think im gonna start a predator collection & leave legends & mcfarlane in the dust since the quality has bottomed out!!!!!
FYI normal Thor (not Masterson) also rocked a beard during the 90s so it can be used as a Regular Comic Thor as well...

I like that introduction before the the theme song 👍🏼👍🏼
I think the legends Destroyer is much more superior when it comes to sculpt
Shartimus, your passion and care for your fans really shows in your work and videos. You make the world a better place!
By Odin's beard! I still have my Select Destroyer. I won't suffer by comparison.
I'll probably pick this set up. I like the look of the figures, and the 80 years Thor I got from Hasbro Pulse has some nasty defects. The neck was set in the torso at a 45 degree turn, and the right leg has a left calf and foot.
Just picked this set up for $39.99
Didn't realize until I checked out.
Just wish Destroyer had a flip up visor and blast effect for it.
I was pleasantly surprise to get on discount as well.
@@RichardsonRaider Right??
And I was wrong in my initial post.
It was $29.99+tax.
Is the thor cape removable?

Nice look at this two pack Shart! Didn't pickup the two pack per se but I copped the Destroyer itself from the bay... it's an awesome piece.
I have weird cracks and marbling on my Destroyer too, in different places. I don't enjoy looking at them. Wish I had the Select Destroyer.

Very nice 2 pack.
Been hoping for a Destroyer for a while
Favorite song has to be Static X - Destroyer
This 2 pack is @ ollies right now (July 2024)
yep just got it
selling out Ollie after ollie😂
I look at those new lower legs on the thor figure, and I see a Beta ray bill coming...

I’m curious as to how the Marvel Select Annihilus will look
I have a Street Humans question. Is there still going to be a walrus man? I really liked that one.
The bearded Thor reminds me of Next Avengers Thor.
Picked up a set today on sale in a videogame store for £24..very happy.
Got mines for $30! So we'll worth the destroyer, and comes with a Thor as accessory lol

I want this Destroyer figure in my collection. 💚
Shartimus, which thor do you prefer most? This new one or the 80th anniversary
I wanna put destroyer and Juggernaut together in a combat position. So cool!
I always felt like the Select version looked too stocky/chunky. Glad they thinned out this new version.
Are those thor hands interchangeable with the infinity saga endgame thor hand?
Looks great.
The ML Destroyer is sick, and the marbling does detract from the looks. But overall, it’s quality.
How’s the leather texture on the torso flesh tone look in person? It looked horrid in the promo images.
Got my two pack today 26quid brand new loving it

2:57 it looks like Odin the guinea pig is watching from the beyond
The ML Destroyer looks so much better proportionally than the Diamond Select and dont see how anyone could say that its a draw.

Select is better by far with size and accessories
Having the Select Destroyer makes me want to wait for a sale for this set. But nice set.
why would legends use ball peg anyway. the neck disk hinge has always been the most well engineered neck articulation
looks like the destroyer took notes from spider punk
I hope every marvel Legends that will get released soon should just have a pinless joints
Really think they should've added the spinning hammer effect and then I would've had zero qualms with this purchase
😂😂 the marvel select anti venom is no joke my little brother used to think that figure was awesome till he picked it up
Big Time Spidey singing Metallica tho🤘🏻

This was a cool 2 pack
Just bought this 2 pack brand new for 32 bucks!
Are the legs as gummy as the previous Thor?
The flesh tone on the torso is terrible. But gotta say that Destroyer is dope.
