- There are lots of potential challenges you could do with this game, some of them too hard and some of them too easy. I feel like this one is a really good middle ground, where it definitely limits you, but not in a way that is totally impossible or totally dependent on your opponents being bad. Enjoy!

Like, that's his personal challenge, and it's not like he has this crazy high knowledge of where the coins are. The way he normally plays, coins pretty much don't matter to him.
The point of the first comment is that Kosmic criticized a "good" player for getting hit by an easy enemy, and then gets hit by an easy enemy.
Of course, there's a huge difference even there. The other player has access to coin purchases, while Kosmic does not.
But, regardless, entering a coin room is so exceptionally different, I can't imagine why you brought it up.
If you hold "L" from the main menu or from the results screen it won't scroll through the power ups.

I also found that if you hold L right after choosing a level you will still be Luigi and not scroll the power up thing
@@Kosmicd12 Like gokust07 says, if you select a level and then hold L, you'll be able to play as Luigi. I also figured out that once players start joining the lobby, possibly sooner, you can let go and still be Luigi

The KO system is kind of interesting when you think about it, like if there's a bunch of flying cheep cheeps keeping you from jumping freely so you mistime your jump and end up running into a goomba, I wouldn't really say the goomba was the reason you died, but they got the credit

Regarding the whole thing where L messes with your item selection: just press A to select the stage, and immediately begin holding L. Your item purchase thingy will remain the same but you'll still play as Luigi. Slightly less of a pain

also did you notice that the red timer that happens when you're under 10 seconds left... still has the fast-clock animation that only actually makes sense for the other red timer (when it goes 3x or 5x or 10x speed)?

In baseball terms, a no coin run is like a no-hitter. A no KO run as well is a perfect game
Kosmic should do this but with stream snipers so that as many people as possible in a game are not collecting coins. This would be great for trying to get the lowest winning score possible.

When you think about it, not gaining KOs probably means that other people are getting it, thus making the endgame more difficult.

As far as I can tell there is exactly one place in Super Mario Bros where it is possible for a koopa to physically hit a block that does anything: around 3/4 of the way through 5-2, there's a red koopa on a high shelf to the right of a low shelf above a pit. in All-Stars (the only version I have available), the koopa is too fast to hit the low shelf unmodified, but if you do break the rightmost block, you can get the koopa to hit the second block... where it simply bounces off to no effect.
I was wondering about it too and found that one part in 5-2! So Koopa shells breaking block is a new change. In the NES version it just bounces off the rightmost block.

No coins is a really hard challenge because you can never let your instincts take over, you have to do everything very deliberately until your instincts start to adjust to the challenge, but then you start avoiding coins even when you don't want to.

You'll get less KOs with "Most Coins" since those are the people less likely to die.
I once did a no coin run for all levels in original Mario bros and I was able to reach 8-1, because of the one space jump at the end there, the coins for that jump were inevitable

If nobody is attacking you, you can use attacker not to get KOs. Also you can mess around with touch screen settings so that you target nobody
