Dont seem to have any grounds on those studs. Only ones on the engine ive found are 3 on the back drivers side under glow plug cont module. Mine is a 2003 p42 step van with 6.5 diesel.
Mine doesn't seem to have one anywhere on the intake and not on the back right. I have those studs but no ground wires I can see. I have a 2003 Workhorse p42 w/ a 6.5 and the only grounds I have found on the engine are a set of three left of the fuel filter (driver side) below the glow plug controller. And then one for the PMD on top of the injection pump. Any ideas?
I have a 96 k3500 6.5 that I drove through a water puddle. after I parked it then it won't start. replaced starter and sounds like it engages but still won't start. not sure what problem Is
Might want to cover that intake before going nuts with the air hose... Don't want to blow crud around with that open or it goes directly into your engine and can damage valves and pistons...
I may have missed it in the video but was the spray just an electrical contact cleaner? You guys are the ones who make the gear reduction starter as well? That's cool that you'd make this video. I'm new to diesel engines, but I know charging and starting problems are more often grounding issues than people realize even if getting new parts "fixes" the problems - - and knowing you guys sell starters I think it's even cooler you would make this video as pre-maintenance for the charging system.
im having an issue where when i hit a bump or take a turn to hard my radio will cut out and come back on and all the lights will flicker. it looks like the ground strap has coroded and broken in half, would this be the source of my issue or do i have a deeper electrical problem? im also having an issue with my blower motor where it almost never works, ive replaced the resistor, relay, switch and the motor itself and no luck. every once and a while it will kick back on and work for a couple days then suddenly stop again. im thinking about removing the entire dash and checking all the wires at this point, does anybody have an idea what it could be?
Does anyone know why a 95 6.5 would be hitting on only 1 cylinder but never actually starting and blowing black smoke everywhere, it does have a completely new fuel system that has been bled, and all new working glow plugs as well as starter, grounds have been checked, thanks
Hi, I've had a ground problem off and on in my 99 2500 6.5 when it gets damp or this time I came home in the rain. Now the starter won't engage, just click. I think it is the ground that goes to the frame and then back up to the trans dipstick stud. I took the screw out and it was wet and nasty on the two grounds that attach there. Cleaned it up as good as I could, but I think the rust is too bad as it still won't turn over. Any ideas what it could be if its not this ground. Connections on starter?
Yes, the main battery cable connection to the starter, the connections at the passenger side battery positive terminal, or the single wire that activates the starter solenoid. May need to take the starter off, test it, and check all those connections.
@@QuadstarTuningLLC Well, I went out and checked it again and realized I had failed to connect the positive that leads to the starter as it was not even clicking now. It is starting now. Must have been the grounds connected to the frame. I'll have to figure out how to fix that.
Hey there. I apologize in advance for the massive block of words I'm dumping here, I just need some help in narrowing down the original issue. I'm including a lot of coincidental details. Maybe the issue is a combination of things, or something obvious that I somehow overlooked. I'm having a "crank but no start" issue. My 1st instinct was to go through and check all my grounds And They all looked good but I cleaned everything up while I was there. The test light seemed to show good ground. Tried every troubleshoot and tip The I have come across on the internet, somehow managed to miss 1 of the Grounding straps That goes between the engine and the chassiwitucked down in there Behind the front passenger wheel. there are two within fairly close proximity, One of the straps there was frayed(It almost looked like a rat chewed on it. I forgot which 1 exactly was damaged, but I got 2 new ones. My question is... Could that frayed strap Result in a crank but no start? There's fuel flowing Everywhere needs to be up until The Injectors, Which makes me think The Injection pump or PMD Was fried. replaced the pmd, But I discovered the frayed ground strap after I had done that, So maybe the new pmd Will work . When my truck 1st failed,It had been running a little hot, I made sure I had coolant Until I could get to a spot where I could flush all that out And give it new coolant. I changed the oil And filter So that I could Continue my journey back home with a little bit less worry. on the 1st drive after doing that, I made it about 3 miles if that And I felt A complete loss of power.Like the gas pedal had absolutely no function, And it just kind of died. My friend that was riding with me said that he saw a decent cloud of smoke From the exhaust,But it was really dark and he wasn't able to tell if it was white or black. I immediately started checking on my grounds and the connections on my batteries. The positive terminal On the passenger side battery was looking ugly. The lead chunk that the post was threaded into came out of the battery. The rubber on the 2 stacked cable lugs was melted, And there were little pit marks On the lugs which I assumed was made by electricity arcing. I wouldn't be surprised if this failure was initiated by Some faulty electrical, the guy bought this truck off of Mickey mouse the bunch of stuff and I am constantly finding Fun little Projects to clean up after him. It has been really frustrating And My trucks failure lead To a few months of very unsavory situations that sent me back,And I've been struggling to recover from it since. The failure happened about a year ago, And I just recently Started really digging into it. I cleared a bunch of things out from under the hood so that I could access the injectors, and make sure those were Looking decent, new glowplugs new harness. I know I'll get this thing running again, But I would like to know What led to the failure In the 1st place. Im hoping you could maybe Help me out With your knowledge and experience. Is there anything else I should be checking out while I have everything taken apart? At this point I don't even mind taking the extra time and spending the extra dollar To make sure I don't have to take this thing apart again for a while.I would appreciate Any Knowledge or opinions you might have. If you would be willin
Again I apologize for the mass of words. I really hope That It isn't too hard to comprehend. My communication skills aren't the best,But I make excellent scrambled eggs

Saw no response.
The old 6,2 starters were tough.

Your shaft is broken in the pump and not turning the rotor
