"Billions upon billions of organisms reside on this tiny planet. each meticulously designed to fulfill their given purpose. yet you barely reach the cusp of mediocrity" Is the best insult I've ever heard
Basically nsr is this company that powers the city through concerts by featured performers but they refused to let rock performers play so mayday and Zuke try to overthrow nsr so they can play rock and because the city is running out of energy
“You often get caught up in your beliefs that sometimes, you need to take a step back and see that the stage doesn’t just belong to you. We’re all in this together, and the sooner we acknowledge that, the quicker we can work towards a common goal.” Congratulations, you have just obliterated the entirety of the Internet.
I love how the bosses went from ego maniacal DJ, to young teenagers out of their depth, to a child prodigy coping with pressure and loss, to a former war veteran, to a heartbroken artist trying and failing to find herself in her art. When the game makes you want to root for the bad guys, you know it's doing a good job.
The thing I love about this is that you can feel how every boss in this game are so passionate about their craft, even with their faults they still pursuit their art woth such dedication that is inspiring.
@@imaniislander755 Totally in that agreement. Sayu's creators are a group of young college students who came into the Music industry a little too early and likely felt a lot of pressure and anxiety from it as it showed them already breaking down near the end of the boss battle. It is likely they neglected their studies just to focus solely on Sayu as she is their future. Yinu is the same only much younger and very much in distressed as she and her mother just lost their patriarch of their family and are cooping their grieve with music and fame yet it kept them feeling distant from each other until the very end.
Yinu: The hard emotions of a grieving mother and daughter 1010: obvious undertones about the harsh world of kpop and the expectations society puts on them Eve: the message of loving yourself and coming to terms with the fact that a relationship will not fix all your problems DJ Subatomic Supernova: Lmao space go brrrrrrr
@@sudanemamimikiki1527 I mean, from what I've seen in this video, Mayday and Zuke are the initiator of like 90% of the fights. Hell, they just randomly show up to a kid's piano recital and start assaulting her because it's not rock. It doesn't really seem to be about freedom of expression so much as allowing rockers to freely express themselves and punishing everyone who doesn't personally play rock, so the ending of "And then everyone gets along at the end" sounds super tacked on and like they realized at the last second they were guilty of the same snobbish elitism they seemed to be critiquing with Eve's character.
44:13 "I should teach you brats some lessons in music!" "But I have a master's degree in Fine Arts & Music-" "SHUT UP!" God, I love this game's dialogue.
"I should teach you brats a lesson about music!!!" "But I have a masters degree in fine arts and music!" "Shut up!" That made me laugh way more than it should've
Orochi HD well duh, but this is an E10+ game, yet it covers dark themes of corse an MA game is gonna have more mature themes. Imo danganronpa has a dark concept but when it comes to the game it doesn’t really take its self seriously.
My literal thoughts when I first saw this in my recommended was “Hey, that dude looks sick. Ay, that other guy also looks cool. Wait a minute, they all look cool? *WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE!?* “ And the rest is history
I like how at the ending of Yinu’s battle after her piano breaks, she starts playing out of sadness that it is broken. Her music alone was enough to snap her mother out of that overbearing rage mode. In the end her mother wants what’s best but went about it the wrong way.
Mayday was sad during 1010's Showstopper because she had to destroy the pretty boy robots who were flirting with her. Zuke was sad during Eve's Showstopper because someone he used to consider a very close friend was having a mental breakdown and he didn't know how to help her.
@@neonflights5951 Mostly that it's cool that they changed the expressions of the characters during the showstopper animation and that each character had a boss fight where they had a reason not to want to actually go through with the final blow but had to anyway for the greater good But also that Zuke's fight against Eve had more emotional impact on me as a viewer because, as much as I like pretty boys flirting with me, the 1010 fight and the flirting was played for comedy and the Eve fight was a serious situation with personal impact on both Zuke and Eve, so Zuke's inner conflict felt actually like a conflict and wasn't played as a joke like Mayday's.
@@MEEEPMEEEPMEEEPMEEEP So one is more serious for the sake of the plot. And the other was played out comedically. But that doesn't still nessacarily mean that its not valid. Imagine saying that something is only valid based on whether or not you took it seriously. Validity is based on what the person experiancing the emotions is feeling. Its a good thing this is only a videogame with characters who were written for us to enjoy.
*You need to take a step back and see that the stage doesn't just belong to you. We are all in this together. And the sooner we acknowledge that, the quicker we can work towards a common goal.* That's such a powerful message and it doesn't just apply to music.
It's also really refreshing. It seems like most political messages boil down to, "Only my world-view is right." and it's terrible. Strictly following one line of thinking while shutting out the concerns and ideas of others leads to regression, not progression. Lean too far right, and you leave yourself vulnerable when change is necessary for the wellbeing of others. Lean too far left, and you risk losing the values and traditions that define your culture.
The thing i love about this game more than anything is the fact that the heros were becoming just like the 'villains' and realized what they were doing was not the best idea.
Yes, but I also like how they show how the "villains" are not evil at all, and the main cause of the problems in the plot is NSR's somewhat abusive treatment of musicians and hatred of Rock.
@@DR3ADNOUGHTit's not as straight-cut but yeah. Afterall thay's the title of the game: "No Straight Roads". There are no straight roads to reaching the truth.
DJ Subatomic Supernova: A man engulfed by his own ego, sought to combine his love for the cosmos and music and literally aims for the stars to make sure his music truly becomes universal. Sayu: Four children bringing their combined dream and artistic talents to life in the form of Sayu, but caught up in the politics of the city, whether they know it or not. Yinu: A child protege who just wants to play music, but her overprotective mother tends to get involved, for better or for worse. 1010: A war veteran exotic enough to make an entire boy band based off his time at the navy, but can't quite let the war life go. Eve: A woman terrified that no one will understand her perspective, and must face the reality her old friend has moved on without her. Tatiana: A woman of progress and has let the past go; a woman who has rejected her past for a presumed better future.
DK West, two brothers with issues caused by poor communication (Zuke really looked up to him but then they had a terrible falling out over West pulling a huge bonehead move and never making efforts to remedy it)
Anime protagonists when rejecting: You'll find someone i'm sure!!! ZUKE: You don't need anybody to complete you, you complete yourself. I know you're stronger than I am.
I love the fact that each boss holds a different aspect that can happen to a creator in their search for bringing what they make to life. Hold onto your hats, this is a long post detailing it all. DJ Subatomic Supernova: A creator that let his confidence and ego slowly sink his mind into thinking others are far beneath him. Recordings show that he started out just trying to branch out to like minded people. But at some point, when he gained fame he ended up thinking to highly of himself. Sayu: According to recordings you can find she was a collaboration creation that grew from a single artwork into something so much more when the group of four got together and became friends. But their dedication in wanting to win slowly made them forget about what inspired them to make Sayu to begin with. Resulting in them destroying their own creation more and more the deeper they fell into desperation to beat Bunk Bed. DK West: No secrets to find to flesh this one out. Their whole story is given in the raps they sing to one another. Zuke looked up to his brother so much that he ended up copying most of what he did to the smallest detail. In the end, he copied so much that it formed a resentment between the brothers. But it took their encounter here for the two to realize that Zuke only looked up to him and never meant to push his older brother to such lengths. After all, they are still family. Yinu: According to records in the game, she started playing piano with her father who passed away. But when her talent made her grow in fame, her mother pressured more and more into rising her daughter into stardom. In the end, the mother and daughter grew distant as Yinu most likely wanted to keep playing to not forget her dead father. It wasn't until Bunk Bed came along and knocked some sense into them that Yinu broke down and played that last tune that could have been the first song her father taught her when she was younger. Her mother realizing just how far she pushed her own daughter when she hears it. 1010: According to records you can find, the idea for 1010 began with some vintage figures made with imported materials. But once a war broke out and cut off the supplies for their creation, they were forced to resort to other means of making them and changing their appearance in order to draw in more attention to the series of figures. Over time, they stuck with a military style and once they found the 'version' that sold the most they just copied it with barely any changes to create their entire line. Resulting in the series to lose the creative style it once had just become a copy of what was considered 'most profitable'. The music aspect seems to be secondary and added onto them as a means to grow their popularity even more. Eve: Just like 1010, this one has the music as a secondary part. In the hidden recordings, Eve spent part of her younger years trying to find herself and fit in with others. Even going so far as painting her reddish half white so she would look 'normal' to people. It was in this time that she tried to find her own artistic style and, in effect, find those that understand her views so she wouldn't be alone. Then along came Zuke and she thought she had found someone that she could share her life with. But while Zuke understood her, he wasn't fully committed into it as she did and he couldn't tell her about it. The breaking point was when she tried to 'illuminate' his hair during a show, resulting in the break up that left Eve in a depressing pit that convinced her that she was better off just forcing her style onto others since she was now positive that there was no one else that understood her in the world. This one could be taken in many different ways for aspects of life. The mentality that you will never find someone that understands you. Tatiana: The largest example what any creator can end up in the long run of their careers. The high demand of fans and a fallout among her band mates sank her into a a hate for rock. SO much that she even shunned anyone else that liked it or trying to carve a path with it. The rest can be easily seen in the finale of the game and don't think I need to go into much more details on it. XD
In my opinion,Sayu's bossfight was the most interesting and favorable. The music was good, the detail of it having crowd cheering (which references vocaloid fans waving their lights during an event/concert),the music glitching a little bit as Sayu breaks more and more, the fact that you actually have to move around places, her trident being based of an usb,the surrounding glitching more and more you break those items that are connected to her and the detail of the kids controlling her. Also combined with the fact she's literally a vocaloid reference makes me happy that vocaloid is getting some sort of recognition in video games and considering it's my favorite edm genre.
I love that the moral is that there should be no “this music is better than that music” mindset. I’m a person who loves a bunch of types of music (EDM, rock, rap, orchestral, etc) and it’s so hard to find people who don’t look down on people who prefer a genre they happen not to like. This is a lesson that everyone should learn.
Actually, just looking at the ending and everything, this is more than just a morale on music, but rather is a parable on the dangers of political extremism, tribalism, and the follies of central planning
@@pathfindersavant3988 agreed. the whole 'equality for everyone, regardless of differences' motif is something that needs to be talked about more often in today's world.
So, it turns out that his support, his friendship (as I understood, they were more or less close) is worth nothing? Both Tatiana and Kliff are wrong. Indifference to others is just as fatal as excessive attention to them. In the end, Tatiana realized this. But Kliff didn't.
@@terterar1610 Kliff was a clingy fan, and even though he says he was "there for her" I doubt he was there in any truly meaningful way. Because at this point he's been unmasked as an antagonist, using B2J for his own needs, everything he said becomes untrustworthy. Through the eyes of a stalker fan, he may *think* he was doing something for her, but the reality is that despite everything he's "done" for her, it sounds like from her dialogue that he was way too up in her business. Just because you're a fan of someone doesn't mean they *have* to give you any more attention, especially if the fan is a stalker or makes the person uncomfortable.
Indeed Cliff wasn't owned a thing but she still had no right to treat him life nothing either. I don't care if you're the biggest rock star in the world, treat people with respect.
So after seeing the Bosses Orginis....so the piano Yinu played with that was destroyed turned to be the one she played with her late father Thanks NSR now I'm sad
Someone said that Eve’s jacket thing is the color of Zuke’s hair. Meaning she never really got over him and represents him with her art through the same thing she wears almost all the time.
Her whole body is a biblical reference. Her white side represents Eve. Her red side represents the snake/lucifer with the way her hair wraps around her leg. Her jacket-thingie has Zukes hair color but it also represents the tree and it's fruit.
25:01 I love the detail of the idol girl trying to plug in her trident like a USB. & how she flips it around twice after getting it wrong both times & then getting it right on the third try, like so many of us have done. (Her trident prongs are also reminiscent of the icon on usb ports)
The bossfight with Yinu physically pained me. As someone who grew up playing the violin, it hurt to drown out my love with rock music. And then the cutscene after just kicked me while I was down. An instrument as beautiful as a piano being damaged broke my soul. I’m glad to say I feel like I redeemed myself in the in the final sequence.
I thought it represent that some family that get their kids into music, Example piano, lose sight on why young children love music so much. Not because of fame or acknowledgement, but for the joy of it
@@Ghostwizard_0 it's implied Yinu plays her father's piano to remind her of him since he's dead and her mom is overprotective of her, but i understand why some see it as her mom forcing her to play (like pageant moms or dance moms)
The message of this game is so good. It reinforces that the world is simply not black and white, nor good and bad. Everyone had their motives, rights and wrongs.
Absolutely agree and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this even though I've never played this game. It's message is inspiring and it's portrayal of people is staggeringly accurate.
There's actually alot more to 1010 when you take a look at their district and the items you get from their fight that people overlook because it's not spelled out like the other artists. Neon went through a pretty traumatic war and wether or not he became a cyborg due to the war through some injury is unsure but I'm order to cope and help people he began to design toys and dolls for the children affected by the war. Then , he began to design robots and machines to protect others so that nobody would get hurt , machines to clean and upkeep the city. But at some point he got wrapped up with NSR and soon he began to design machines to bring joy through music , but overtime he forgot his own mission he set out for himself and got so wrapped up in leading his own men again like the old days he neglected the people he sought to protect. This is evidence in the fact there are several old and busted robots , in the alleyways there are machines and pipes designed to keep water from flooding the district by the zuke and may comment in the fact their barely working and the flooding would get worse.
The order of the bosses is genius. Start with an arrogant jerk that feels good to take down a peg, then twice you take down kids just trying to have fun and perform, leading to you questioning the morality of your actions. By putting these bosses in front instead of at the end the message and theme really stays at the four front of your mind instead of saying at the end “YOU WERE THE VILLAIN THE WHILE TIME??!!” It’s a lot stronger as the introductory bosses, that make you question May and Zuke even when you’re fighting a literal robot boy band and crazy ex girlfriend
Even the penultimate boss EVE makes you wonder the morality of your actions as you drive her beyond the point of sanity. It really has you thinking , "Are we Really the good guys"?
Frankly, Sayu was my favorite fight. Watching the team behind her working to try to beat you and working in tandem, even if they failed, showed just how determined they were. It was awesome to watch the artist inspire them for that final push
in Yinu's bossfight, you can really feel the tension of the overexpectations that her mother is placing on her. The 10 B's in a row that repeats then goes up to d# just pulses out a kind of tense energy that really symbolizes how much pressure Yinu is under from both her adversaries and her own mother to perform. The world wants to see her fail and her mother wants to see her succeed, but all she wants to do is play music...
@@djohnthesalty Saying that someone is an English/literature teacher is a derogatory way to imply that someone try to search things too deeply in fiction/art. Because how dare people try to analyse and find meaning in art ?
Typical normal game. I admit it’s gameplay seems a bit wonky and the character face animation seem... bad they still showed a big message with music and even pointed a lot of the flaws in different type
There's all kinds of secret meanings and back story that they put into the game for all the villians that isn't shown via cutscenes. - DJ Subatomic Supernova being vain but also wanting to leave his mark in humanity's history by propelling his music into space. his vanity is further referenced by the fact that his head is a black hole, a point in space that generally appears at the center of solar systems. - SAYU being the love project of a group of young artists and being thrown into things beyond their realm of comprehension/being taken advantage of by big corporations. Couple kids found each other on social media, hit it off really well and decided to come together to create SAYU. - YINU plays cause of her father and mother. Dad dies of illness and mom became overprotective. YINU plays music as a reminder of her dad. BBJ interjects and the thorns of the mother come out to protect the rose (YINU). after the fight, YINU gets mad cause her mother, in her overprotectiveness, forgot why YINU continued playing piano. The piano is also most likely the piano her father played. Not bad, just sad. - 1010 (Neon J.) is mentally stuck in his military days and applies that logic to all the things he does, from optimal performance of soldiers to mannerisms. - EVE obviously has history with Zuke and his brother via college. Zuke and EVE dated for while. Zuke dipped out after EVE set his hair on fire, but EVE being an eccentric person from top to bottom, didn't understand why that was a big deal. Her end goal from the very beginning was to find someone who could understand her and stand by her. She groomed Zuke to an extent to serve this purpose, but well, we know how that turned out... It's all laid out in the game via the trophies you get after beating the bosses. PS: There's also one more NSR artist that we don't know about yet. Pay attention to the fight with Tatiana. Notice how there's 7 stained glass windows? You got DJ Sub, SAYU, YINU, 1010, EVE and Tatiana. There's no info on the mystery man on the far right stained glass window.
You forgot DK West. Talks and acts big, trying to hide his frustration about being completely overshadowed by his very own brother. The shadowy figure he uses to defend himself really drives the point further. A shame only the first battle with him was featured in the video.
@@MidBoss666 Well, i didn't so much as forget him, but focus on the main villians of the game. You are 100% right though. And to be fair, his 2nd and 3rd fights are freaking tough lol
KingGiddius what about the Tatiana woman... have t finished the vid. It see you mentioned people on stained glasses but didn’t give back info on her. Also thank you for this synopsis. Never heard of this game but it seems so cool.
In SAYU's fight, when you attack the symbols meant to represent the parts that make up her, it resembles model kit runners. It makes sense since SAYU was built to be a model, consisting of different parts from different people. It's actually really cool on how much detail there is in this game.
a detail i love about the final stretch is how the "rock vs edm" slider is slowly shifting away from rock as they loosen the iron stranglehold they never intended to have in the first place from the city.
Y'know, Tatiana may be the opposing viewpoint in the player and characters eyes but god damn if she isn't speaking some straight logic to Mayday before the fight starts...almost like she's not the villain in this story.
While Tatiana had great points, the energy shortage was ultimately her fault due to letting her personal bias get in the way; given how much BBJ powered the Qwasa, they were practically a shoo-in if it weren't for Tatiana having been burnt (no pun intended) by her past as Kul Fyra.
The only serious villain in this entire thing was that crazy guy, and y'know that DJ asshat but no one really cares about him. Everyone else has some sort of sympathetic quality and redemption arc
I love that the finale actually show that having one prevail over the other made no sense and actually somewhat showed the wrongdoings of both parts (and it was pretty obvious since the start for us that destroying these beautiful bosses maybe wasnt the best idea to begin with). Also, both parties generated around half the input of the city, but both were so blind on the fact that by collaborating they would've covered the whole necessity of the city and maybe even more.
It kinda reminds me of Furi. You go through the islands and kill all the prisoners to free yourself only to realise that there was a reason that they kept you locked up. The way they went about keeping Rider locked up was bad, but they weren't completely wrong in doing so.
When Eve was talking about May being like fire, she wasn't really wrong. May's actions are unexpected and controlled by her emotions, such as in 1010's and Sayu's battle. She is also very sassy and brash at times, showing her angry side usually.
And she's right about Zuke being the sea. He can be chill and calm at times, but when you make him mad, (like shown in the DK West rap battles) he can be like tidal waves crashing on the beach. I hope I'm right.
What I like is, at the end, when Zuke and Mayday compare their score to Tatiana's, they're both at 47% on the energy generation scale. In the end, neither EDM nor Rock are the end-all be-all music. Both have their fans and good things, but no one type of music is 'powerful' enough to allow to power all of the city alone.
mayday's dilemma at the end broke my heart,,, zuke had character development in-game, but her character development was at the very end of the story. she had her whole world turned on its head within minutes, rushed to fix her and zuke's mistakes while dealing with her revelation, and was treated like a hero despite feeling that she was a villain. tatiana giving may her guitar was definitely a sign that people forgave her, and her intense reaction makes sense considering she's accepting forgiveness when she doesn't think she should be forgiven. i'm glad she got back on her feet in the end.

@@kevinchang617 We as fans often forget that the people we look up to whether they are idols, celebrities, or any other popular icon are human just like us. And if we spend too much time looking up to that said person, we will overlook the bigger picture or miss out on what is clearly obvious: They cannot and will not be responsible for your own actions.
that is true, when we really look into it, idols and people we look up to are just footholds for us to achieve our goals, but we don't really need them, we can achieve anything if we just believe in ourselves.
You know, a metaphor that just hit me that I haven't seen much people talk about- in the beginning of the Yinu bossfight, when you approach her piano for the first time she is lifted up by her mother. By strings. Behind a curtain. Her mother is quite literally pulling the strings behind the curtain. I have watched these fights idk how many times and it just clicked with me
I think she's supposed to look like some sort of tree spirit or character, and those nature characteristics are passes to Yinu but yeah she does give off devil vibes 😳
I think she's a stage mom, who is living vicariously through her daughter. Yinu just loves to play music. Her love is for the music but her mother is all about getting her daughter glory, which Yinu doesn't care about.
The best premise of a story I’ve seen in a while ,on the basis of both sides being evil, but the weaker one rising up to become what they were fighting against, absolute control, but they awaken before finalizing it. And realize the importance and validity of all sides and balance between them
I wish they had done that with the rest of the soundtrack. More rock elements being introduced to the songs as the fight progressed would've been really cool.
I think it’s cool that dj subatomic supernova’s 3rd form is a reference to spaghettification that happens in actual black holes, stretching you and your limbs out
Wait, what? A game where protagonist realised that going full postal on your enemy might be shortsighted? That other's opinions can be legit? And she did it by herself?!? Mind blown! I am going to treasure this game, so rare it is nowdays!
I'm new to this game, because I used to listen to that robot mermaid song in Spotify I didnt know it was from a video game, until I came across this video by a friend. I now listhing to other music in this video, and hell, I like the Piano and the DK west. Damn they slaps.
I love how sayu is expressed by four different sub categories controlling her. The artist, Voice actor, motion capture (or dancer) then the editing or film making. It really says a lot about what they had in mind. It honestly shows techno in full light for me. Also what’s with techno always being expressed by sea and sea people?
I somekind associate Sayu with Yamaha's VOCALOID engine. As her voice is heavily patched with effects, and she has an illustrator and a "voice provider", as if with the v-tuber motion capture stuff and editing. Also, she's a reference to SF-A2 MIKI and LUMi.
I love this game not only for its uniqueness and music, but also how each of the bosses are each metaphors of the music industry DJ Subatomic Supernova, who thinks the world revolves around him and his music Sayu, who’s recognized and adored as a single fictional icon, instead of those who created her Yinu, being the daughter of a stage mother who mainly cares about her daughter’s performance perfection 1010, being a mass-produced boy band that lacks individuality, and is both literally and figuratively produced by a factory Eve, being a musical artist who creates solely for the appreciation of the arts And Tatiana, whose fight, dialogue, and actions symbolize her past as a performer, and the causes and effects of her disbandment
I have NO IDEA WHY but YT put this in my recommended and I'm not mad about it. I've never heard or seen anything about this game until now. This game OOZES personality, like the mechanics look really cool and I love Mayday and Zuke they are so funny and bounce off each other really well. Also THE CHARACTER DESIGN OH MY GOSH. I love love love it and I wanna learn more, and hopefully one day play it for myself. TH-cam sometimes blesses me with a new obsession once in a blue moon and I'm happy it's this!
I love the message of this game, how people let go of their toxic mentality and advocate for variety and equality instead - We need more of that. Powerful message for a game about fighting Bootleg Marshmello, Hatsune Miku, Lang Lang, BTS and Grimes.
I don't think it's just BTS, but the Kpop industry as a whole. BTS has 7 members, not 5. But there are other groups with 5 members, ex: TXT, NCT Dream, Red Velvet, etc.
@@pintobeani5361 It's a mix of Kpop and American boy bands though, as they're so replaceable whereas Kpop bands have to run themselves nearly to death to debut and become successful. Plenty of Kpop stars have collapsed during concerts due to being malnourished and overworked, hence the mixture of american boy bands, which were basically all one in the same and didn't have as rigorous requirements to become successful.
Thinking about the themes in this game, I think Sayu is the most important character in the sense that even though she's fake, she's also the most genuine. 1010 is literally manufactured, Eve doesn't know what she is and lives in a constant state of existential crisis, Yinu is controlled by an abusive mother, DJ SS is arrogant and not actually really that good. Even Tatiana seems to have been lying to herself about who she was in an attempt to correct her past mistakes. Sayu is the only unabashedly "real" character despite being a virtual avatar crafted by four weebs. Something about that rings true, tbh...
one of my favorite details about the game is that when bbj gears up to do the showstopper in eve's battle, zuke is noticeably more sad in his voice, and he's not smiling when he fistbumps may. i enjoy that they show how affected he still is over eve's and his relationship through that little bit!
My favorite part about this game is how it’s a platformer, my most favorite kind of game ever. It really brought back some childhood memories and/or vibes. But at the same time, it was something new, and very intriguing! So basically, I felt lots of nostalgia with this game.
Yinu's fight breaks my heart. Idk how accurate it is. But I see her playing so much because it reminds her of her late father and it made her mother happy. But the fight made her dislike playing for the probably the first time and she hated them for making her hate the only thing she had to remember her dad, even if it was only for a moment. A side note, BBJ were very dickish to not even look sorry they broke a 5yos piano and nearly killed her and her mother.
@@gone_blank that's like the whole story,, (idk if you watched all the way to the end so here's a recap) they lost sight in their attempt to overthrow NSR and their favoritism towards EDM and at the end apologize for their misguided actions
This game is perhaps the most futuristic game I seen. The designers and programers actually make it possible to see the characters talk even with rpg text. This was in my recomended and I... Fell in love with this game
I like eve because she was like me when my ex-girl broke with me. Grasping that piece of hope towards someone's.. and then be forced accept You have been left and you ARE truly alone. Quite an amazing character
Idk why, but when she first started to talk to Zuke i belived that she was Nadia that Zuke was talking about. And somehow i was right. I felt a lot of ex lover tension between them. I must add that she is very pretty, i mean each boss has their own amazing aesthetic which is awesome.

@@Ghostwizard_0 That's what I thought too, but then I saw the ending. It kinda changed my thoughts. But both/all view points are valid like Hemotite said.
As someone in the group of people who just had this recommended to them with no context, I think Yinu's my favorite out of the bunch. Not only because the story behind it felt the most emotionally impactful, but because the track (particularly the rock version) reminds me a LOT of certain tracks from the Persona series. But then I haven't gone through all of them yet, so I might correct myself.
I think West had a crush on Eve, cause in his rap, he was saying that Zuke took Nadia away from him (Nadia is Eve btw, cause at the end of the battle Zuke called her Nadia) and West also said that Zuke was only friends with her cause West was friends with Eve

I like how at the ending of Yinu’s battle after her piano breaks, she starts playing out of sadness that it is broken. Her music alone was enough to snap her mother out of that overbearing rage mode. In the end her mother wants what’s best but went about it the wrong way.
That whole scene was legitimately heartbreaking 😢
One of the most heartbreaking moment in game.
what was the song she was playing in the end?
Darude - Sandstorm
Update* the name of the song is Prodigy from the soundtrack of No Straight Roads
Mayday was sad during 1010's Showstopper because she had to destroy the pretty boy robots who were flirting with her.
Zuke was sad during Eve's Showstopper because someone he used to consider a very close friend was having a mental breakdown and he didn't know how to help her.
And both of their sadnesses were valid. What's your point?
@@neonflights5951 Mostly that it's cool that they changed the expressions of the characters during the showstopper animation and that each character had a boss fight where they had a reason not to want to actually go through with the final blow but had to anyway for the greater good
But also that Zuke's fight against Eve had more emotional impact on me as a viewer because, as much as I like pretty boys flirting with me, the 1010 fight and the flirting was played for comedy and the Eve fight was a serious situation with personal impact on both Zuke and Eve, so Zuke's inner conflict felt actually like a conflict and wasn't played as a joke like Mayday's.

All of the bosses have dope music. I liked the style at first, but the music is amazing too.
XD
Wait what did illuminating his hair even mean?
@@eldritchcupcakes3195 I think she might have set it on fire.
@@darkkatana yeah I think that’s a reasonable reason to break up

I know this may seem weird but I’ve been trying to switch up my playlist. Do you know any edm songs I can try?
Also she's a mermaid. I know this is silly but I love mermaids lol.
She's not a vocaloid though... She's a virtual idol. Kind of like a vtuber.
And discovering the team behind her and that the person who does her motion capture is a man
Pyun please take me seriously
I love that the moral is that there should be no “this music is better than that music” mindset. I’m a person who loves a bunch of types of music (EDM, rock, rap, orchestral, etc) and it’s so hard to find people who don’t look down on people who prefer a genre they happen not to like. This is a lesson that everyone should learn.
Same here
I love classic, jazz, blues, rock, rap, country, metal, pop
There's always one in each genre I can like or love
Actually, just looking at the ending and everything, this is more than just a morale on music, but rather is a parable on the dangers of political extremism, tribalism, and the follies of central planning

SAMMME- And the message that no music is above others really hits

Country music DLC in the future?
the true enemy.
It's honestly so fucking cool, man. I didnt have the context, and the visuals in the fight alone tipped me off to it
@i change my pfp constantly Not really in general, it's much more specifically targeting virtual idols like Hatsune Miku and Kizuna AI.
Castafiore i agree but only them two vtubers the others are mental
a detail i love about the final stretch is how the "rock vs edm" slider is slowly shifting away from rock as they loosen the iron stranglehold they never intended to have in the first place from the city.
DK West is a whole different vibe with his music also he looks like a chill uncle with cool dreads
Sucks his Heath bar keeps going back to normal
he is the cool uncle who lets you stay up until 5 am
He is not a villain at all
Y'know, Tatiana may be the opposing viewpoint in the player and characters eyes but god damn if she isn't speaking some straight logic to Mayday before the fight starts...almost like she's not the villain in this story.
tatiana was right
well its a good thing they gave tatiana some kind of sympathetic quality, it made her feel more real.
While Tatiana had great points, the energy shortage was ultimately her fault due to letting her personal bias get in the way; given how much BBJ powered the Qwasa, they were practically a shoo-in if it weren't for Tatiana having been burnt (no pun intended) by her past as Kul Fyra.
She isn't actually
The only serious villain in this entire thing was that crazy guy, and y'know that DJ asshat but no one really cares about him. Everyone else has some sort of sympathetic quality and redemption arc
subatomic supernova has some excellent voice acting, damn
@Dane Halter
Hmm I wonder
Pretty sure he voices Darth maul in the clone wars series
Everytime I looked at him, he reminds me of Shockwave fron TFA
He sounds a bit like fused zamasu
@@bagaskaraadhiguna6899 TFA means transformers animated right? Or is it a different series that you mean?
I love that the finale actually show that having one prevail over the other made no sense and actually somewhat showed the wrongdoings of both parts (and it was pretty obvious since the start for us that destroying these beautiful bosses maybe wasnt the best idea to begin with). Also, both parties generated around half the input of the city, but both were so blind on the fact that by collaborating they would've covered the whole necessity of the city and maybe even more.
Two people managed to keep up with 5/6 other different genres. That shit's crazy.
1010 really describes boy band in that short boss fight
And she's right about Zuke being the sea. He can be chill and calm at times, but when you make him mad, (like shown in the DK West rap battles) he can be like tidal waves crashing on the beach. I hope I'm right.
What I like is, at the end, when Zuke and Mayday compare their score to Tatiana's, they're both at 47% on the energy generation scale. In the end, neither EDM nor Rock are the end-all be-all music. Both have their fans and good things, but no one type of music is 'powerful' enough to allow to power all of the city alone.
i mean it is kinda cool how one duo can make the same amount of energy that 5 artists made 😳
mayday's dilemma at the end broke my heart,,, zuke had character development in-game, but her character development was at the very end of the story.
she had her whole world turned on its head within minutes, rushed to fix her and zuke's mistakes while dealing with her revelation, and was treated like a hero despite feeling that she was a villain.
tatiana giving may her guitar was definitely a sign that people forgave her, and her intense reaction makes sense considering she's accepting forgiveness when she doesn't think she should be forgiven.
i'm glad she got back on her feet in the end.

@@kevinchang617 I agree entirely

I love how sayu is expressed by four different sub categories controlling her. The artist, Voice actor, motion capture (or dancer) then the editing or film making. It really says a lot about what they had in mind. It honestly shows techno in full light for me. Also what’s with techno always being expressed by sea and sea people?
Probably because of the aesthetics it can bring. Bubbles, coral, bright colors, etc
A lot of synths used in techno have a sound often described as watery, bubbly or "liquid"
Because soundWAVES
I somekind associate Sayu with Yamaha's VOCALOID engine. As her voice is heavily patched with effects, and she has an illustrator and a "voice provider", as if with the v-tuber motion capture stuff and editing. Also, she's a reference to SF-A2 MIKI and LUMi.

I love this game not only for its uniqueness and music, but also how each of the bosses are each metaphors of the music industry
DJ Subatomic Supernova, who thinks the world revolves around him and his music
Sayu, who’s recognized and adored as a single fictional icon, instead of those who created her
Yinu, being the daughter of a stage mother who mainly cares about her daughter’s performance perfection
1010, being a mass-produced boy band that lacks individuality, and is both literally and figuratively produced by a factory
Eve, being a musical artist who creates solely for the appreciation of the arts
And Tatiana, whose fight, dialogue, and actions symbolize her past as a performer, and the causes and effects of her disbandment
Also, I know that everyone hates Tatiana's fight, but I think it is pretty Good. I just wish they added something more to it

Not grimes but it’s lady gaga
I don't think it's just BTS, but the Kpop industry as a whole. BTS has 7 members, not 5. But there are other groups with 5 members, ex: TXT, NCT Dream, Red Velvet, etc.
I'm dead at the names you gave them.
@@pintobeani5361 It's a mix of Kpop and American boy bands though, as they're so replaceable whereas Kpop bands have to run themselves nearly to death to debut and become successful. Why did you put the plot version here ;-;
Thinking about the themes in this game, I think Sayu is the most important character in the sense that even though she's fake, she's also the most genuine.
Well yeah but the fish kinda makes you wonder whats going on there brains

Yinu's fight breaks my heart. Idk how accurate it is. But I see her playing so much because it reminds her of her late father and it made her mother happy. But the fight made her dislike playing for the probably the first time and she hated them for making her hate the only thing she had to remember her dad, even if it was only for a moment.
A side note, BBJ were very dickish to not even look sorry they broke a 5yos piano and nearly killed her and her mother.
