    I tried making this mix a few months ago. To see how it did compared to the box. My family loved it. I added a diy cheese sauce mix to my jar when I made a bunch for my pantry shelf. Thank you!

    Renea, could you use the same ingredients but replace the beef bouillon with chicken bouillon? Love this idea. Thank you.

    I will make some of this. I quit buying the hamburger helper years ago because we have to watch our sodium intake . Look forward to your video on the potato recipe. Thanks and Happy Valentines Day. God Bless

    Hi Renea! What can i use instead of the parmesan, or would it be just as good without the parmesan? My man doesn't like parmesan and not sure i could hide it in there haha. Love all your spice blends ❤ xx

    I’m starting to love making my own blends.. while you was making it I was also going along. Thank you kindly for this recipe. This will definitely last a yr. Because it’s just me an now and then family . Have you ever tried using cheddar cheese powder? And if so what is your opinion of it? I just heard about it.

    My family loves the hamburger helpers !! I was wondering if you have a certain brand of powdered milk that you like. I haven't found one that I really like. What would the ratios be for one pound of hamburger, 1/2 cup of seasoning to ? how much water or broth & ? how much macaroni ? Love your down to earth cooking, no hard to find ingredients, just the basics !!

    • @LittleVillageHomestead
      @LittleVillageHomestead  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am terrible because I very seldom measure anything. But you need enough liquid to cover the pasta just like when you use the boxed stuff...Like 1 cup milk and 2 cups water...That is a good start cause you can always add more if need. Thank you Leigh. I would do a cup and a half of macaroni.

      I get all my powdered milk from a friend who gets it through the government commodities. It is very good powdered milk.

    Awesome recipe! When you say "hot liquid" what do you use? I see the recipe has powdered milk & bouillon in it, just wondering if the hot liquid was water. This may be on my make for supper list today ... yummy! I have your cookbook, maybe I should just look in there...lol

    • @LittleVillageHomestead
      @LittleVillageHomestead  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually you could use water or broth or milk. it just depends on what kind of hamburger dish you are making. I use milk & water when I make stroganoff. I use broth to make the beefy noodle kind and so on. Thank you.

    How much and what kind of liquid do you add to make a batch of scalloped potatoes. If you make more to fill a quart of mix how much mix to use for 3 cups dehydrated potatoes to liquid😊

    In this mix, when using 1lb of burger, how much water do you add after hamburger is cooked?

  • @jjo5375
    @jjo5375 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, Renea, Please excuse this 'duh' question..... You mention that the mix needs to be added to the "hot liquids" before adding to the ground beef. (What hot liquids, please)? : )

    • @LittleVillageHomestead
      @LittleVillageHomestead  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you have ever made a box of hamburger helper, then you would have used the seasoning packet and also added water or milk or both. So this blend is like the same as the seasoning packet. I have powdered milk in it so all you would really have to add is water.. so you would fry your burger, add a few cups of liquid with the seasoning mixed in it, than add the pasta... Thank you J Jo.

    Did you use true powdered milk (like from the LDS cannery) or instant nonfat dry milk (like from Walmart)?

    • @LittleVillageHomestead
      @LittleVillageHomestead  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use instant nonfat dry milk, so if you make this blend and use the non instant milk powder, then you will want to use half as much milk powder. I hope this helps. Thank you Katie.
