I disagree with Mother Gothel's death being not needed. Mother Gothel's whole existance was about cheating death. Death was the one thing she appeared to fear. Letting her live at the end would have really had no effect on her, and would have provided her opertunity to keep trying to cheat death, instead by dying out right she's given the one thing she fears most as her ending.
Sounds like Mother Gothel and Lord Voldermort have a lot in common. They both feared death. And they both tried to cheat death. At the end they both died.
I think Tadashi (unfortunately) had to die because the theme of the movie is overcoming grief. Without Tadashi's death, there is no room for emotional development and the theme would be drastically changed.
For the Ariel one... There is such a thing as being frozen in fear/shock, so her death could have actually happened that way. Not everyone runs when they feel fear. some freeze up and don't know what to do.

To be honest I disagree with you about Ray the lightning bug due to the fact I saw the star as symbolism for a dead lover and when he talked about how he loved the star I think he's actually talking about a dead lover that he misses dearly and him being dead now would reunite him with his dead lover.
Wyvern Works yeah I always thought Evangeline was a dead firefly but I personally think that Ray didn't have to die since it shows that he and her will always be connected no matter what. But I also don't disagree that Ray should have died
Anna Gram I don't think it was necessary for her to forget Bing Bong, though. I feel like everyone is capable of growing up without forgetting what their childhood was like. I think it would have been more appropriate for Bing Bong to accept that he wasn't needed anymore, but will always belong in her happy memories.
Janet Kazarowski But while we grow, we loose parts of our selfs. Joy didn't want Riley to change, she didn't want her to have sad islands of personality, or move to Francisco. It was hard to let go of her happy Riley and the movie viewers had to feel that and that they felt through Bing Bongs death. While everyone is capable of it, growing up is hard, not just on you, but the people, that raise you. The death wasn't necessary for the plot, but without it the message of the movie wouldn't have been as clear. If he didn't die, the movie would be less impactful.
EliMunoz2003 problem with that is Peter Pan takes place in Victorian England and The Princess and the Frog takes place in the 1920's. I like to think that Evangeline was Ray's firefly wife or girlfriend and he personified her as a star when she died. He says "And I know in my heart someday we are going to be together." To Tiana this sounds like Ray is planning to ask Evangeline to go out with him but maybe to Ray that means when he dies he'll be with Evangeline, his lover.
Ecangeline is a story from new orleans where this story takes place ..Evangeline and her fiance were seperated when they were kicked out of their homes only to find themselves when her fiance was already on his deathbed down in new orleans...thats why Raymond cant be with Evangeline until he died.
Yea Evangeline was a firefly who was in a relationship with Ray but then she died and in this universe(princess and the frog)when fireflies did they become stars
About Ray and the Star, I believe the whole point of him loving the star was that at one point, the star was a lighting bug and was in a relationship with Ray. However, she must have died at some point and maybe became a star as something that all the lighting bugs do. Thus again proven when Ray dies and becomes a star, finally passing on and reuniting with the love of his life. Again, this is my opinion, and while the concept is unrealistic, I do believe it was interesting. However, I agree in the fact that Ray didn't have to die at the moment, and he could have avoided his death all together.
I saw also a post talking about why Ray would become a star and it basically ended quoting Timone: "They're fireflies; that got stuck in that big blueish black thing"
That's more of a fan theory, but if that HAD been said in the movie it would have actually made Ray's death more powerful. All they had to do was say, "That's where fireflies go when we pass on." Boom! Now the audience knows that Evangeline (that name implies "angel") was a firefly Ray loved and proven that love that seems impossible IS possible even in death.
Tangled starts with Flynn saying that it's the story about how he died. Also in the book he is blinded by falling from the tower and Rapunzel's tears heal him... same as in the movie except they made it more emotional.
I always thought for Mother Gothel, Rapunzel's hair didn't heal people, it literally just turned back time for them to before whatever their ailment was, for Mother Gothel it was aging and possibly knocking at death's door We don't know how long she was with the flower before it got transferred to Rapunzel, so she was just fighting off her eventual death of old age, and as time went on the affects of the flower became less effective, so when Rapunzel lost her power, time literally caught up with Mother Gothel, and she reverted back to her actual age, something that no human could achieve and made her turn to dust [if that makes any sense I'll consider it an accomplishment]
Yeah, if you look at flower song, Flower gleam and glow Let your powers shine Make the clock reverse Bring back what once was mine Healing has been heard Change the fate's design Bring back what once was lost Bring back what once was mine what once was mine
True, like... I have a lot of memories of my childhood, mostly good times, so right, not forgotten. Bing Bong could have been inspiration for children's books or something, you know?
I completely agree!! Hiccup finally has BOTH of his parents but he ends up at square one again at the end of the movie with just one parent. Can't the young man have a bit of happiness that's other than Toothless and Astrid 😐😢
I believe Stoik's death was just. His past actions of killing and fighting dragons and not listening to his wife is what lead to her never returning after she was taken. Of course he is a good man and all! But death isn't the final end. It's very symbolic of Hiccup becoming a man and I don't think the movie would have been as powerful if Stoik didn't die at the hands of evil. Abother thing i think is very interesting that the HTTYD trilogy (yes there will be a httyd3 and that would be the final movie) is that stoik was in the first movie and a half and Symetically, Val was also in half the movie and will be in the next one too. The way they were reuinited and had closure was very beautiful and I think it was for the best even though it was tragic. Tragically beautiful.
If Eugene and Gothel hadn't died there wouldn't have been an exciting twist in the movie, Eugene had to cut Rapunzel's hair to save her and protect her from Mother Gothel, and without the magical healing hair Rapunzel couldn't heal Eugene so he died, if he hadn't died she wouldn't have cried over him so her tears wouldn't have healed him, and throughout the whole movie it kept showing that without Rapunzel's hair Gothel would grow old and die, so when the hair was cut of course she had to die, if she hadn't died it wouldn't have made any sense and she would've just locked Rapunzel away somewhere else. Also if Stoik hadn't died Hiccup would've, it was like Hiccup gained a Mother, and lost his Father, it's like he replaced one parent with another, and it just made it a very sad and heartfelt moment, it also helped Hiccup become Chief, while Stoik was alive Hiccup didn't want to be Chief but after he died Hiccup was happy to be Chief
For Elsa and Annas parents... I think they had to die because 1...they never would have had some kind of ball for Elsa or maybe anna for the fear of elsa powers being found out. 2...Elsa never would have run away after she was found out if her parents need died because of her being crowned queen, which has to be public. 3....if they were alive and we're to have some kind of ball, elsa would have locked her self in her room and no one would end up knowing her powers at all.. elsa wouldn't alow it. 4....when she and Anna are arguing, what elsa does is an accident and without that the movie would have never escalated really
MeSoNo NoSoMe i agree with you. another reason i feel they needed to die is because if her parents were still alive Hans would have never been a threat and a really big part of the movie was finding out Hans was a bad guy. and if Hans was never a threat there would have been no need for Anna to make her big sacrifice in the end.
It made Frozen even more biased and controversial about Elsa family abuse that Let it Go looks to cure in the worst ways. Brave was more decent, but hey, it's Pixar!
DON'T DISRESPECT BING BONGS SACRIFICE, THAT IS BLASPHEMY. I CRY EVERY TIME I WATCH THAT BECAUSE IT IS BEAUTIFUL. But also on a less sentimental note it is highly symbolic of the beginning of Riley growing up however he is not totally forgotten because of the final message he leaves with happiness "take her to the moon" again I cry every time, but this shows that there is still a connection with the past and Reilly's childhood but she is growing up
The is future site of BNL. And when Sadness makes the control panel flicker the Bus tale lights also flashes . Are vehicles also powered by human emotions. Maybe they send all use WAY beyond the MOON. But remembering childhood won't make you a child if anything it would make you mature
Personally, I disagree with the mother gothel situation. For a few reasons. 1. She's a villain with no redeeming qualities, she would of been a liability if she didn't die because she tried to kill both Fin and Rapunzel. So what purpose to the film would she be if she was to stay alive? there would be no more story to tell and nobody would enjoy this film if it was just about a selfish, evil, vindictive women getting away with murder. 2. Her character was designed to be completely selfish and self centred. She didn't care about anyone else other than herself and her beauty. Staying young was the sole purpose to why she stole Rapunzel to use her for her magical property. 3. Her death was necessary because it fulfils Disney's good vs evil stick they have for every film. Good triumphs over evil. So it's a focal point to further the story so I feel like her death was justified. 4. Magic always has a price, Disney are VERY forward with this, Mother Gothel misused magic. She became obsessed with staying young and beautiful to the point that she'd commit a crime to do anything to stay beautiful, and so in Disney terms she had to suffer the consequence by death. The story of mother gothel is similar to that of the evil queen from snow white, their characters are obsessed with being beautiful, they both are willing to kill to become the only one on top. So why should they not be put to death for their crimes? Both films are set in times that death was punishable for committed crimes, like putting a royal at risk, that is treachery and therefore you die. If all villains were able to not be accountable for their actions there wouldn't be any story. I agree with all of these accept for mother gothel because I feel her death was justified.
And yeah, though despite the option, the original tale is even darker. :s Disney tends to soften the blows a bit, keeping to the theme but not putting all the gruesome details in there.
but as a severely aged woman, she poses no threat. no physical strength and her mind would also go too so she would not even be cunning. it would be a bit poignant to have her live as what she feared the most. she could still have had enteral life but as an old hag. a bit dark but having her die is dark too.
Iyumi Blue However it did say she lived for many years with the flower, also when she fell you saw her body turning to dust. So, either way she would have died.
The Fangirl Mother Gothel DID have to die because she was gonna keep killing Flynn and he DID need to die for a second because that is how Rapunzel discovered a NEW ability: to REVIVE instead of making younger...IDK that is just MY thought....Also Elsa's and Anna's parents had to die to teach independence and they would NEVER through a ball after Elsa freezing Anna's head....plus, that would NOT give any reason for a coordination nor for Hans to try to take over. Tadashi DID have to die because Hero never would have caught the professor trying to kill the owner of the school. Bing bong had to die to teach us that we eventually grow out of imaginary friends...thats all of my thoughts 😂
I disagree about Flynn Rider. Yes it was tragic and yes it was very brief. However, his death accomplished 2 things. 1 Rapunzel learns that the magic was actually inside her (not just her hair). 2nd it demonstrates how fully opposite he is from Mother Gothel. She didn't care about Rapunzel. She only cared about using Rapunzel's hair to stay alive and young. Flynn was willing to die to keep Mother Gothel or anyone from using Rapunzel.
Exactly. King Triton didn’t like humans because they caused Queen Athena to die. If she hadn’t died, King Triton possibly would’ve been more supportive of Ariel going to the surface and she wouldn’t have gone to Ursula and there would’ve been no conflict in the original movie.
I disagree when it comes to Flynn/Eugene, and not just because I'm strongly biased against him. I think that, if he died for real, it wouldn't have made much of a difference in the scenes that followed. The one major divergence would be that it would showcase that Rapunzel, even after losing the first person she had romantic feelings for, was still able to slowly move on and live a happy life as the princess of Corona -- maybe even raise the implication that she's starting to develop feelings for someone new around her age, like a peasant from Corona, a member of the royal staff, or even a prince from a neighboring kingdom. With that, the movie could've ended with Rapunzel launching a flying lantern with Flynn/Eugene's face (complete with an accurate nose) painted onto it into the sky, to show that, even though she has moved on from his death, she will always remember the connection she had with him. All of that, to me, could've made the ending of the film more poignant and meaningful.
Agree 100% with Stoic. Plus having Toothless being the one to kill him was terrible! Like how traumatic is that for Hiccup? I am iffy with Bing-Bong though. On the one hand, I think him dying was part of Riley letting go of her past and and growing up. However I know several adults, myself included, who remember their imaginary friends from childhood. Plus Riley's emotions remember him so why shouldn't Riley herself? It's all part of the convoluted plot-holes in that movie, like "Do the Emotions have emotions?" that it's best not to think about. (P.S. I actually do like that movie) I haven't seen all your theory videos so maybe you've already addresses some of those issues.
The reason the emotions remember but Riley doesn't is because with many things, such as what people say to you, you won't remember what actually happened or what was said- you remember what you felt.
PeppermintCutie I watched a fact video for how to train your dragon. They didn't want to kill Stock, they where going to kill Goober. But some guy told dream works that they had to do it, even if they didn't want to.
I'm just mad they did a in name only adaption of the books. Those are some of the best children's books I've ever read and the movies are so generic in comparison. Toothless is pretty cool in the movies but everything else I like better in the books. Also Camicazi is worth a million Astrids.
Oh my gosh, so glad you brought up Stoic. His death bothers me so much!!! Like come on, Hiccup JUST got his mother back and now his dad dies?? Do all movie characters need to have just one parent
I hate to say it, but I think Tadashi had to die since the film uses this tragedy to really show the effects of psychological trauma, and how it should be taken as seriously as physical damage. Also, I feel like some of the deaths were needed to show that you can't save everyone and that's part of life; as a slightly more realistic happy ending
Okay for the Rapunzel movie, Tangled, the reason why Mother Gothel needed to die is because she would have kept trying to use Rapunzel's hair. And the way she did die was she was using the flower even before the flower was tooken and used to heal Rapunzel's mother so she could have been over 200 years old for all we knew because they never told us the timeline in between when the Sun made the flower to when Rapunzel's mother got sick. So when Rapunzel's hair, which was the thing keeping her alive, was cut she died and turned into dust because she should have already been dust and she should have already been Dead.
For sure, Stoick's death really pissed me off, like there was no reason for it. It came out of nowhere and then was glossed over by the fact that toothless was now Evil for a few seconds, then Hiccup is mad at him. Tension for no reason. Also the alpha dragon didnt need to die either.
If the alpha dragon didn't die it would have still fought the other alpha for control of the other dragons until one died, it's like royalty; one royal family has more power than the other, the other wants that power and therefore kills off the royal family with more power. Also it was one of the climax parts of the movie, Drago wanted power over the dragons to make Stoick pay for humiliating him by laughing at him for wanting Stoick and the others to bow down to him. Sorry if I'm not clear enough or if this is all over the place >u
Bingbong’s death was actually very symbolic! The whole movie was about Joy trying to hold desperately onto childhood, and Bingbong, an imaginary friend, was apart of her childhood. And Riley forgetting about Bingbong, and letting him go, was her growing up and being able to let that part of her childhood go. So while it didn’t effect plot, it effected characters.

For Frozen, I argue that the parents did need to die. If they didn't die, yes, they could have had some function which required the entire kingdom where Elsa looses it and exposes her powers. However, when she runs away and Anna goes after her, the kingdom is entrusted to Hans. This never would have happened if the king and queen were still alive. Furthermore, being more experienced and less impulsive than Anna, the king and queen probably would have sent soldiers, and not Anna, after her to retrieve her. And yes, this does happen in the movie, but it results in her being imprisioned. That never would have happened if her parents were alive. Her own parent wouldn't have thrown her in the dungeon. And basically, the entire latter half of the movie would had to have been completely different in order to work with Anna and Elsa's parents in the picture. For Inside Out, I argue that Bing Bong did need to die. The entire movie is a metaphor for a girl starting to grow up while put in a new situation that's hard to deal with. Part of growing up is leaving things like imaginary friends behind. It's less for the actual plot, more for the theming that he needed to die. Now, they could have left him out entirely, and it probably would have done little to affect the plot. But if they were going to make Bing Bong a thing, he had to have been forgotten about by the end of the film. That's kind of the whole point of the film. Riley's getting older and her mentality, perception on the world and interests are changing, and I think Bing Bong's death is a big part of that. Either he had to die or he shouldn't have been in the movie to begin with.
Yes. Getting stuck in a six pack ring is less ridiculous than being killed in a ship reck. Bing Bong also needed to die. Not because of a plot reason, but it almost symbolizes Riley growing older.
While I agree with cha on most of these, Flynn Rider DID need to die coz of the context. He showed that, given the choice between Rapunzel's freedom & his own life, he picks *her* . (Which is pretty admirable since I don't think anyone else woulda made that choice.) Other than that, your video is brilliant. :D
"Bing-Bong" died because Riley was *literally growing-up* . Things like imaginary friends are jettisoned by our brains as we continue to age, especially when we are kids growing into teens, and then, adults. How many adults do you know of who walk around talking to their imaginary-friend "Harvey the Bunny" (+10 points to anyone who gets the reference)? The closest people will come to "imaginary friends" are characters they create to role-play with, with friends and/or strangers for fun and relaxation. But, no neuro-typical adult has a cotton-candy-elephant-cat in their head that they dance and play with in the house. Riley had great memories with him, and she will cherish them and tell her kids about them if/when she has her own. But, she wasn't even thinking of him when he was alive and going through her memories! It was time for him to go, and for her to move on. So, on that one, I disagree with you. It was completely necessary for him to die; both to symbolize her growing-up more and more, and to show kids how their minds will grown as they get older. It won't hurt, and it won't be scary (though, it may be a bit sad for them), and it is a completely necessary part of growing-up. (This is the main reason why I cried so incredibly hard during that scene! It's like, "OMG she's growing up, and grown-ups put away childish things! I want my 'Krinkles' stuffy-dog back!!! WAHHHHHHH!!!!" *tears-snot-bubbles-in-the-air-inconsolable* )

If Ariels mother hadn't died, it could have changed the whole plot of the little mermaid. She might have agreed with Ariel becoming a human to begin with and helped her.
I wish Stowek didn't die. I especially don't like character deaths if they were just reunited with someone who they thought they had lost or were away from for years! And I do wish the neverbeast didn't have to hibernate ;-;
I disagree with elsa and annas parents. I think they had to die. If they didnt the sisters wouldnt be so isolated and desperate. Anna had to want attention so bad or she wouldnt have gone after hans. As well elsa wouldnt have run away. Plus bing bong had to die because it was a major symbolism of growing up. You forget the imanginary friends when u grow up and make real friends.
I don't know. I feel that the death of their parents had no impact on Anne and Elsa's character traits. They were isolated before and after they died. Yes Elsa goes through character changes through the movie, but because of the circumstances she was in. Anne on the other hand kinda stayed the same. Also, the parents were never brought up again.
Although Ariel's mom had a stupid death, it was needed to make King Triton more protective; and that leads to her needing to give up her voice to see the prince instead of her dad just letting her.
Yes thank you! I thought Aryle's mom's death was absolutely stupid as well. I also agree that Tadashi while brave and caring was kind of an idiot running into a burning building like that, and the worst part was it was all in vain. They really could have written both of their deaths better.
That's true.Trough if Stoick was alive two things could have happend:Hiccup accepts his responsabilities as Chief and turns into the Chief of Berk or Stoick would have understand he was rushing Hiccup and would have let him go and he would be Chief for a few years more.Trough I bet that even if Hiccup accepts his responsabilities he would probably still sneak off to explore and find more dragons.
1 There are unfortunately some adaptations where Cinderella's father is still alive, but a neglectful ass! 2 Comic book righter Peter pitched a story for the little mermaid comics. Where her mother, Atlanta befriended a humble artist named Duncan who painted pictures of her. And those paintings were wildly popular, while his rival, Kole was suspicious of this mystery model. One day he spied on Duncan, discovering the mermaid, and attempted to murder Duncan. But Atlanta pushed him out of the way, thus getting crushed by the rubble. King Triton was horrified, he locked himself in his study for a week, then came out with white hair. 3 Mother Gothel did have to die because she would've likely killed Rapunzel, Eugene and herself knowing there is no more rejuvenating magic around. 4 I think Bambi's mother's death did at least give Bambi real experience about man's cruel nature towards animals. Even in the book, he lost others along the way. And even seeing how man also kills man.
Bing Bong died because Riley wasn't a kid anymore and she had to grow up. He died because Riley made new friends and she didn't need an imaginary one anymore. It is sad though that we see him slowly disappear.
I don't know whether or not I agree with Kocoum's death. On the one hand his death, and John's subsequent capture, is what led to the final confrontation of the film. But on the other hand, at the beginning of the film Powhatan told Pocahontas that he had promised her to Kocoum as a wife. So by the tribe's traditions the two were engaged and people often do dumb things in anger when they see their fiance with another person and it was only made worse by the fact that the white people were seen by the tribe as enemies. So I'm not sure whether his death, because he was angry at Pocahontas was warranted given the circumstance.
For baymaxes death I can see why they killed him, it was in order to have hiro rebuild him and show he has reached the potential his brother was at and wanted hiro to reach too, but I mean it's not THAT neccecary but I can get behind it

I think I go with Walt Disney's thing with the "motherless/fatherless" child thing here because ...he lost his parents monoxide poisoning ...so there is his obsession with orphaned characters😢😢😢😢R.I.P
I thought she still alive after that as well, but there no proof of that. Just a ban of music and that that. Do not feel canon at all, plus it ignored the tv series and comics. Be better if the pirates got Athena and kept her so Ariel and the family found her.
i dissagree with frozen . becuse if her parents were still alive then hons wouldt of been in charge and the whole sean of him almost becoming ruler of arendail becuse her parents were there . and his plan wouldnt make any sens . and the problem still could have happend but the ending would have mo climax and would have to be compleatly re written the confict with hons that wouldnt of hallend if her parents were there . is a very big part of the ending and ties the end of the story together
Of all the theories, that one is among the most nonsensical. What the hell were Scandinavian royalty doing near Africa? Why the decision to have another child right now? It's super dumb.
I think Tadashi being in a coma would have been a lot of tons better and Tadashi coming out of the coma at the end would have been a great replacement for Baymax's "death" or having Tadashi and Hiro remake Baymax together would have been just as good. I really think they shouldn't have killed off Tadashi at all in the movie. :( Also, I like to think, in the live action movie of Tarzan, that it is a "What if Kerchak didn't die..."
Athena's fin was stuck in between rocks!!! She didn't NEED to die!!! Flinn did need to die! Otherwise Rapunzel would never have found out that her tears could heal!!!
I feel that if the film bambi had been closer to the book his mothers death would have made more seance, in the book she tells him to keep away from her when they cross the field she know she will die and can only hope that her size and movement attracts the hunters and they ignore her son. Whos old enough to manage.Mind you can you imagine the trauma kids would have got seeing hares wife and gobos death and all other princes.
Actually, although bing bong's death was saddening, the reason bing bong dies is because most of us don't really remember our imaginary friends for years to come. At the end of the movie, Riley is 13, and bing bong was there for her when she was about 4. It's natural that Riley forgets him. Plus, when we are sleeping, our mind cleans out what we need to know and what we don't need to know from the previous day, so inside out and bing bong's death are kind of educational in a way.
That's a Myth Memories More often get mixed scrambled or buried or hidden. With such a hug pit Why is it so hard to forget things you want to forget. . Thing brain entire body like civilian inside . History or history get mixed with mythology or not recorded.. but later gets better organized. A civilian inside practical writes itself.. Yet rules were just spewed out. And question if emotions have emotions. Unlike consent characters cells & microbes are real. Quiet your mind off words think more on images feelings heart beats voice's sounds cravings movements urges sensations.
The reason I thought bing bong had to die, was because joy promised she’d get Riley to remember him. And it made me think, imagine if her imaginary friend just reappeared, like, not just a memory. But she started seeing her imaginary friend again. 😂😂
but the whole reason that Elsa's gotten so closed off and frightened was because of her parents not being there. If her parents stayed alive, they would've been comforting her through the years. If they were alive, Elsa wouldn't have broken down after their funeral. She wouldn't have been scared enough to run away and live as a hermit out in the mountains. Recall that, right before their parents left on the boat, Elsa was there in the same room with all of them, and she seemed a bit shy and unsure, but she wasn't a complete mess and thinking that everything she cares about dies.
Asj Johnson I disagree. her parents were more concerned about how other would think of her than what was best for her daughter. instead of teaching their daughter to deal with her emotions, because everytime her negative emotions for the better of her she would lose control of her powers, they taught her that she needs to hide it, making it worse.
I don't think they meant to do that, just that they were worried for her and tried to help the best they knew how. The trolls were the ones to make them think it was something to be hidden and avoided, but the trolls didn't mean to imply that, either. So it was basically a series of misunderstandings (especially since Elsa had never explained to her parents what happened that night, making it look like her powers had just gone haywire for no reason). But, Elsa became withdrawn because of how traumatic the incident with Anna was, and it only got really bad when their parents died and she lost the only support she had. But... that's just the way I see it. There's probably a lot of possibilities within the movie, since things are never outright stated and they're open to interpretation. (I just want to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and go with the most positive view) ...kind'a interesting in a way, to see how differently events can be interpreted. I suppose your view would be just as valid as mine. Though I'm not sure why they were fine with her powers before the incident with Anna. Maybe they didn't realize it was dangerous until then? But then, wouldn't they have hidden it so that people wouldn't think of her as a monster? A way of protecting her from people like the "Duke of Weasel Town".
Asj Johnson Elsa parents kind put the blame on her from the beginning. Add in you must gain control over your power or bad stuff will happen. And shirking the staff and closing the gates all to hide her gift. Talk about pressure on a small child!
It's like the movies that have a boulder or whatnot charging toward the character, and instead of side-stepping it, they run in a straight line until they die. This wasn't shock as much as it was lazy writing. They saw it as a movie for small kids that was going straight to video, so they didn't put enough quality behind it.
I agree. I get that it set up the plot of King Triton hating humans, and that there wasn't a mother in the original Andersen fairytale, just the father and grandmother, but still...the way Ariel's mother died was ridiculous. She could have easily gotten out of the way; I feel like the ship wouldn't be moving quickly enough for her to be frozen in fear. Now, if the humans had been like, "Mermaids! Capture them!" and caught Ariel's mother in a net or threw a harpoon at her while she was trying to protect her children...that would have made for a much better scene. Triton would be convinced that humans are heartless and greedy, and so his being enraged upon finding out that Ariel is collecting human things and in love with a human would really make sense. I mean, he destroys her collection. He might think that she is becoming greedy like the humans by hoarding treasure, and that the human prince will lead her to destruction (which is actually true in the original tale, technically). One thing that bothered me about the movie is that in the TV show they made in the 90s, Triton wants Ariel to learn some sort of "sea calliope" and seems to be a great lover of music. The plot of him banning all music from Atlantica just did not seem believable to me. Especially because it would be incredibly hard to enforce unless Triton can hear everything that goes on under the sea. Someone singing a song under their breath in the privacy of their own home, for example.
He would never have accepted being turned down and replaced by another. He would have spent his life trying to destroy the man who Belle chosed over him. He was like Rayek in Elfquest. He had to be first in everything.
Ugh yeah the firefly death in Princess and the Frog. They oversold it so much and it was like, you know, the movie already felt like it was just rushing between songs, you could have cut all that out for more PLOT. And I really didn't like Frozen, I feel like it's a complete mess of a script and don't understand why everyone praises it but the parents dying and not having to face the consequences of their psychological torment of Elsa sorta pisses me off. Also agree on Stoick, it was pretty pointless and REALLY contrived.
I disagree with the frozen one, no matter what the cause elsa's parents would have kept her away from anyone and keep the gates closed. Anna would just be the one to marry and take over the kingdom and elsa would probably die being unheard of
No, actually, she saved her daughters, THEN went back for the music box Triton gave her as a present. Because, you know, that music box was totally worth her dying and leaving behind seven children and a husband for. Because he couldn't have just given her another one . . . They could have just had her actually die to save her children, which is where I thought the movie was going (and Triton still could have banned music because it remained him of Athena), but instead we got the BS story of Triton banning music because his wife literally died for music. Nice one, Disney.
i completely forgot about the whole music box thing and yes your right it would have been better to have killed her by her saving the child but i dont think the point was he banned music cause it was what got her killed but rather it did remind him of her the point is while the reason she died was convaluted her death was needed it technically impacts at least ariels begining and the original little mermaid with why he doesnt like humans even more than just the fear of being spotted to the point its xenophobia and why his heart is so cold but yea she needed to die but not over the flipping music box
conckretangel She didn't really die because of music, but it could be misconstrued that way by some viewers. I still don't get why she felt the need to go back for that music box. Sure, it was important to her, but not so important that she ever should have been willing to die for it. I mean, I get that Disney characters aren't usually the brightest Crayolas in the box, but that was just plain stupidity. For someone named for the goddess of wisdom, Athena was NOT the most intelligent fish in the sea . . .
I Completely Agree with Hiccups Fathers Death. When Disney Killed The Father RIGHT As the Mother and Father Reunited after so Many Years, Tears, And Haunting Memories of that Day... That’s like Spoiling the End To Something that you wanted to see! 0_O
YES ATHENA HAD TO DYE BECAUSE THE WHOLE REASON KING TRITAN GOT RID OF MUSIC WAS BECAUSE OF ATHENAS DEATH AND WITHOUT THE DEATH OF ATHENA THERE WOULD BE NO MOVIE TO HAVE ARIAL BRING BACK MUSIC
Actually Elsa's parents needed to die because it's cannon that Elsa's parents are Tarzans parents so they did have to die in order for Tarzan to be born and adopted by gorillas. And if they didn't die the fight Elsa and Anna had that reviled her ice powers wouldn't have happened because she A) didn't have her coronation and B) Elsa's parents would have probably let her be locked up for most of her life (until they die and Elsa becomes the queen)
Honestly in How To Tain Your Dagon 2 I also thought it sucked how Hiccup had finally got both his parents then they once again kill one of COME ON!!!! Can't they make something happy?
Fangirl: should I stay or should I go Me: THE CLASH Fangirl: Stoick Me: *Cries* I love how to train your Dragon and dragon's edge but I'm sensitive please no
5.34: I disagree Bing-Bong did have to die, not for the sake of plot convenience but as a symbol of Riley growing up and forgetting her imaginary friend moving on from that part of her childhood and toward her adolescence. And for the sake of Kokoum (Spelling?) I can't say for sure because in real life Pocahontas was only a little girl that John Smith apparently had no interest in, so I can't defend the death by saying that's what really happened because I'm not an expert and don't actually know this but for the sake of the overall plot of the movie itself, I would say yes, he had to die. And this really has nothing to do with it, but the addition of John Rolf in the second movie is both accurate and inacurate at the same time because Pocahontas did marry him, but as a child against her will. Okay done now.
Remembering childhood won't make you a child if anything it would make you mature. . Quiet your mind off words think more in images colors sounds heart beats voice's. Sensations cravings movements. Urges go back simpler state of mind
In my opinion. The reason for the sad moments that come in all shapes and sizes in various Disney films is so ONE will resignate in someone and give that person a sense of relation, so she too could be a princess or he too could be hero. Despite all the trauma that had to go with it.
Ariels mum would've wanted to move, she would've been telling herself to move but she was probably frozen with fear, that's happened to me before, not the getting crushed by a ship thing but being too scared to move
I think Athena didn't need to die. She was so nice and king Triton and her had a lovely marriage. Also now Ariel and her sisters don't have a mom to teach them about life and about the human world.
If Cinderella's dad didn't die you'd have to go with the original story of him being absent due to his job and yet still allowing his new family to be jerks because he probably doesn't want to get involved in female affairs.
Bing Bong did need to die. It was symbolism of how he was no longer needed because he was just lost, since Riley was too old for an imaginary friend like him. It's about moving on, growing up, etc, the theme of the movie was dealing with life changes, etc.
about flinns/flynns (idk) death... a lot of parents tell their kids a "nicer" form of fairy tales when they do. The Prince in Rapunzel gets thrown off the dorm and blinded because Thorns scratch out his eyes. Then he has to wander a desert, alone untill Rapunzel finds him and heals his eyes with her tears. Rapunzel in the disney movie beeing forced to safe her boyfriend aswell just seems fitting to me.
The neverbeast part was the biggest whiplash I've ever felt from an animated movie. Everything was so positive and fun in that movie then Fawn says, "He has to go to sleep for a thousand years" and I swear you could audibly hear a record scratch. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?! That was so depressing. It did not feel like a right or appropriate way to end the movie. Now Stoic's death was something that upset me when I saw it but I kind of feel like it completed Stoic's arc and made him seem so honorable and heroic that I feel like it was a death I could respect and look up to as an ideal perfect father moment.
Since there’s at least one sequel mentioned here I will add Shang from Milan 2. Not only was that just a cheap tear jerker, but he just magically appears later without even explaining how he survived falling down a bottomless pit.
Okay, Evangeline went up into the sky and became a star so she could watch over her loved one. Ray dying and becoming a star represents him being reunited with his true love. That was a beautiful and sad moment in the movie it is not pointless or dumb. I agree with you on most of the deaths on the list but not this one, Fangirl.
Bingbong died because the wagon couldn't fly with both of them because the weight was to much!! He knew he was slowing the wagon down so he made the sacrifice so Joy could get back. Mother Gothel died because she was over 200 years old so yes she turned to dust when her body hit the ground.
Even though that I was also upset when stoic died in how to Train Your Dragon 2 I also believe it symbolized that stoic was with Hiccup when he was a child so now his mom can be there for him while he's an adult since she left him at such a young age so it's kind of her way to step up and be the parent and be the role model a role that she abandoned
0:59 Whether or not Tadashi should have died is an interesting one. In a sense I do agree he didn’t need to die but in another sense I feel like he kinda did. It helped Hero tell the villain that you don’t need to take such drastic measures because you went through a loss. It also helped Hero like Maybax more and he had more of a reason to get the whole team together because without that the villain might not have shown himself. It gives Hero a way to kind of understand the villains point of view which is so cool and unique. If Tadashi didn’t die then he would not have a reason to really look for the villain and there would not be a Tadashi is here moment
Bit of a Voldemort situation, hmm?
Sounds like Mother Gothel and Lord Voldermort have a lot in common. They both feared death. And they both tried to cheat death. At the end they both died.
Elephant
Voldemort?
I think Tadashi (unfortunately) had to die because the theme of the movie is overcoming grief. Without Tadashi's death, there is no room for emotional development and the theme would be drastically changed.
Eddie Spaghetti Hiro also wouldn’t have made and learned from the same mistakes if Tadashi was still around.
I think the problem wasnt tadashi, it was CALLAGHAN!! LIKE WHAT A STUPID VILLAIN!!
Honestly there wouldn't be much of a movie without tadashis death. Hiro's depression is the only reason that the story happens at all
For the Ariel one... There is such a thing as being frozen in fear/shock, so her death could have actually happened that way. Not everyone runs when they feel fear. some freeze up and don't know what to do.
Starlight Shadow I'm like that.
Starlight Shadow that happened in the tale of desperauex too

To be honest I disagree with you about Ray the lightning bug due to the fact I saw the star as symbolism for a dead lover and when he talked about how he loved the star I think he's actually talking about a dead lover that he misses dearly and him being dead now would reunite him with his dead lover.
I agree..Never thought of that.
I though we are meant to think all stars are fireflies..
Wyvern Works yeah I always thought Evangeline was a dead firefly but I personally think that Ray didn't have to die since it shows that he and her will always be connected no matter what. But I also don't disagree that Ray should have died
Same
Me to
Wyvern Works wow good point
I disagree on the Bing Bong - death. It was a representation of letting go of / forgetting your childhood, which was an essentiall theme of the movie.
Anna Gram
I don't think it was necessary for her to forget Bing Bong, though. I feel like everyone is capable of growing up without forgetting what their childhood was like. I think it would have been more appropriate for Bing Bong to accept that he wasn't needed anymore, but will always belong in her happy memories.
Janet Kazarowski
But while we grow, we loose parts of our selfs.
Anna Gram agreed
Anna Gram made us cry though 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I have a theory that Evangeline is actually the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio and when she and Ray are together they form the two stars from Peter Pan.
EliMunoz2003 problem with that is Peter Pan takes place in Victorian England and The Princess and the Frog takes place in the 1920's. I like to think that Evangeline was Ray's firefly wife or girlfriend and he personified her as a star when she died. He says "And I know in my heart someday we are going to be together." To Tiana this sounds like Ray is planning to ask Evangeline to go out with him but maybe to Ray that means when he dies he'll be with Evangeline, his lover.
oh thanks I didn't think about that :-)
EliMunoz2003 Check out the Wotso Videos theory. It is exactly like that!
Ecangeline is a story from new orleans where this story takes place ..Evangeline and her fiance were seperated when they were kicked out of their homes only to find themselves when her fiance was already on his deathbed down in new orleans...thats why Raymond cant be with Evangeline until he died.
***Evangeline
TAKE IT BACK
Ray and Evangeline were perfect and a beautiful couple
CrussoFang Is your profile picture a Mrs. Mime? If so, I love it.
Right it hurt my feelings when she said those mean things 🥺
I was under the impression that Evangeline was a firefly, but died and became the star...
Was i the only one who thought that?
Jordan Laney nah, I thought that too
Yea Evangeline was a firefly who was in a relationship with Ray but then she died and in this universe(princess and the frog)when fireflies did they become stars
Jordan Laney no I think that’s true
I always thought for Mother Gothel, Rapunzel's hair didn't heal people, it literally just turned back time for them to before whatever their ailment was, for Mother Gothel it was aging and possibly knocking at death's door
We don't know how long she was with the flower before it got transferred to Rapunzel, so she was just fighting off her eventual death of old age, and as time went on the affects of the flower became less effective, so when Rapunzel lost her power, time literally caught up with Mother Gothel, and she reverted back to her actual age, something that no human could achieve and made her turn to dust
[if that makes any sense I'll consider it an accomplishment]
Mini Kyojin Yes, you make a very good point. Flynn even says when narrating at the beginning that Gothel used the flower for centuries.
Her clothes indicate that she is from around the Renaissance time
Flynn states in the beginning that she used the flower to keep her young for hundreds of years

i disagree with bing bong it shows that riley is growing up that it is ok to grow up and let go of childish things like that
Growing up doesn't mean forgetting
True, like... I have a lot of memories of my childhood, mostly good times, so right, not forgotten. Bing Bong could have been inspiration for children's books or something, you know?
According to Rise of the Guardians it does. You forget that things used to be real to you and you forget the magic in them.
I totally agree! I had several imaginary friends growing up, and I've had to let them go, just like Riley. Plus, i think it's a very touching moment.
Elva Berg bing bong dying made my little sis yes, it resembles riley growing up but it literally made both of us cru
I completely agree!! Hiccup finally has BOTH of his parents but he ends up at square one again at the end of the movie with just one parent. Can't the young man have a bit of happiness that's other than Toothless and Astrid 😐😢
YES I AGREE. And on top of that, it's Toothless that kills him!!! Granted he wasn't in control of his mind, he technically killed his dad.
My one problem how to train your Dragon was DreamWorks but I agree
I just realised this was a year old comment
I guess we can take from this that the villains are just as important to the story as the main characters. Disney would be nothing without them.
MeSoNo NoSoMe misspelled allow you spelt it as alow
By the way the allow is in the 13th row near your forth reason
Hans is the only reason, if they were alive then he wouldn't have been a threat. At the same time he was only a threat because Elsa was a threat.
It made Frozen even more biased and controversial about Elsa family abuse that Let it Go looks to cure in the worst ways. Brave was more decent, but hey, it's Pixar!
I think the reason why Bing-bong died is so Riley could let go of her younger self and so she could grow out of having an imaginary friend
Remembering childhood won't make you a child
Plus in my opinion the option suggested was a long tormenting death, bit dark for a kids movie don't you think?
I can't wait till the new series comes out, I am a big fan of the show :)
I disagree with Ariel mother or else the king would not banned music or going up to the surface
Koho Rowlet yeah
Her death is also the reason for Triton's hatred for humans.
Flynn was willing to die to keep Mother Gothel or anyone from using Rapunzel.
about the ariel thing, the scene with athena im pretty sure was in slow motion. even then, some people freeze up when theyre scared
fp- mechanic it is also because the daughters represent the seven seas Ariel is the red sea etc and the mother represents the dead sea
fp- mechanic Also that leads the way for King Trident to not like the surface in the original movie, and especially to hate humans.
Bia Barreto the thought of that has made me emo thank you
.......Now that's depressing...... :(
Though this is Disney, and good triumphs over evil. Everytime.
+Molly Helm
That hasn't stopped good characters from being killed off.
I absolutely love that ending. So much better than the one in the movie.

@@fluffy11cat What video did you watch, who made it?
I don't think Tadashi died. He turned into a mutant Sunfire like in the comics. Just wait until they premiere the first season of the TV show
I hope that it happens because I love Tadashi
And now all I can imagine is Ariel's mother stuck in a six-pack ring XD Sorry.
Also, Bambi's Moms death is what created Bambi's sequal, where the point was Bambi didn't have a mother and there was the issue of where he'd stay.
Childhood memory island . remembering childhood won't make you a child if anything it makes you mature. Quiet your mind off words think more on images feelings colors lights sounds heart beats voice's movements cravings urges sensations cravings. Go back to more simpler state of mind. And why hasn't bing bong tried get to head quarters before
For Frozen, I argue that the parents did need to die.
(Which is pretty admirable since I don't think anyone else woulda made that choice.)
Other than that, your video is brilliant.
What other imagary friend did all his coppies die for Riley. But remembering child hood wouldn't make you a child.it makes you mature.

8:06 She died because Flynn chopped Rapunzel's magical hair which was keeping Mother Gothel alive
If Ariels mother hadn't died, it could have changed the whole plot of the little mermaid. She might have agreed with Ariel becoming a human to begin with and helped her.
I wish Stowek didn't die. I especially don't like character deaths if they were just reunited with someone who they thought they had lost or were away from for years! And I do wish the neverbeast didn't have to hibernate ;-;
Thank u so much for also noticing this
Yes thank you! I thought Aryle's mom's death was absolutely stupid as well. I also agree that Tadashi while brave and caring was kind of an idiot running into a burning building like that, and the worst part was it was all in vain. They really could have written both of their deaths better.
Agree her death is so stupid too bad there no development on her at all. Wish they gave her a different look instead of a 30 year old Ariel clone.
Actually Hiccup would have been chief anyway, that's the whole little conflict in the beginning. So that was just pointless.
Remembering childhood won't make you a child if anything it makes you mature he could have gotten his own childhood memory island.
For baymaxes death I can see why they killed him, it was in order to have hiro rebuild him and show he has reached the potential his brother was at and wanted hiro to reach too, but I mean it's not THAT neccecary but I can get behind it
“Weirdest dumbest moment”

Tarzan wasn't the king of the gorillas, Kerchek was until his death as the silver back male. The silver back male is the leader of their troop until removed from power by death of being overpowered by a younger, stronger male (sometimes even their own sons)
Ray, I have to disagree, even in the movie I realised that Angelina, was an actual lover of Ray but died before him and she became a star, now I don't know why she was made a star and all the other dead loved ones were not, HHHMMMmmmmm. CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE A THEORY EVEN THOUGH YOU MIGHT DISAGREE!
I think I go with Walt Disney's thing with the "motherless/fatherless" child thing here because ...he lost his parents monoxide poisoning ...so there is his obsession with orphaned characters😢😢😢😢R.I.P

Well, Mother Gothel fell to her death from Pascal making her trip over the hair and out the window.
I may have a fuzzy memory, but I didn't think she ever hit the ground. The camera goes out there, and it's empty space.
I think she turned to dust before she hit the ground.
@@TheFangirlWatches one of my favorite sadness from Rugrats in Paris the whole the whole point of Chuckie's mother just dying out of nothing
I'm a simple human, i see Tadashi and *RUN HERE.*
I think Athena was taken by the pirates, not hit by a boat, but I cant be sure
If only Disney were cool enough to think of that! It would explain why Trident hated humans even more!
The Fangirl yes! Thats just gonna be my headcanon from now on
Athena went to get the music box then I think her fin got caught and she couldn't get away and I think she was impaled
@@TheFangirlWatches agree her death is so stupid, it be better if the pirates just got Athena and kept her. That would explain trtion's hate of humans but no just a ban on music and that stupid. They might kept Athena for the captain's bride.
I thought she still alive after that as well, but there no proof of that. Just a ban of music and that that. Do not feel canon at all, plus it ignored the tv series and comics. Be better if the pirates got Athena and kept her so Ariel and the family found her.
The death for Anna and Elsa's parents, in my opinion, did need to die because then there wouldn't be this big plot point in frozen 2
i dissagree with frozen . becuse if her parents were still alive then hons wouldt of been in charge and the whole sean of him almost becoming ruler of arendail becuse her parents were there . and his plan wouldnt make any sens . and the problem still could have happend but the ending would have mo climax and would have to be compleatly re written the confict with hons that wouldnt of hallend if her parents were there . is a very big part of the ending and ties the end of the story together
I thought Athena’s death was dumb too. She literally just stood there and waited for the ship to hit her. The ship was slow, she had time!
If you believe certain fan theories....then Elsa’s parents did not die. They became Tarzan’s parents. And then yea they died.
Also, I like to think, in the live action movie of Tarzan, that it is a "What if Kerchak didn't die..."
I think that you missed a death nuka loin king two they was no good reason to kill him he wasn't even a little bit of a good reason to kill nuka
Heather Allen She doesn't count direct to video sequels.
That was the catalyst for Zira pushing to declare war

1:40 if baymax dint go up and do a flip to the portal he would no be dead
Talk about pressure on a small child!
aerials mom was standing there in shock when you're shocked you can't really move
What about Gaston from beauty and the beast? Did he really have to die?
Judging by the bloodthirsty cheers of little people when I saw it originally in the theater, I'm going with a big YES!
@@paynebloodletter9684 yes or else he would keep trying to get Maurice in a crazy house or bother Belle.
He would never have accepted being turned down and replaced by another. He would have spent his life trying to destroy the man who Belle chosed over him. He was like Rayek in Elfquest. He had to be first in everything.
Ray mean that Eveangeline died and when he did he was now with her!
Anna would just be the one to marry and take over the kingdom and elsa would probably die being unheard of
athena died cause she was saving her daughter she couldnt get away from the reaf
I absolutely love that you referenced Cinema Sins when talking about Ariel's mother Athena, the joke was perfect. XD

NEVER-BEAST SERIOUSLY SCREWED ME UP!
I agree I love how train your dragon. And stoik could have lived I feel like Stoik could have doged toothless. It was an unnecessary death
I’m still very upset over Tadashi’s death
about flinns/flynns (idk) death... a lot of parents tell their kids a "nicer" form of fairy tales when they do.
I WAS NOT EXPECTING HICCUP IN THIS!
That death was so heartbreaking- I felt emotionally broken for a week.
